Strategy Guide/Walkthrough Completed!

Yes, I finally finished it!

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8MLWOP0H

It's also available on the main page.

In other news, I found one last bug having to do with the level 40 upgrades. I guess no one has needed to get that far to beat it yet, but it is fixed and ready for the next release, whenever I decide to put it up. I may just do it when I finish the Deluxe Edition. Also, the game now has 2 reviews. One good, one not so good. I believe this is an accurate depiction of how this game will be received by RPG players, as it is catered to a specific audience.

Thanks to all who have given this game a chance, and thanks for all the great emails of feedback and praise. I incorporated amerikevicius' tips and bug finds in the walkthrough, so another big thanks goes out to him for letting me know!

The Official Soundtrack

Below is a list of links to the 8bit sound files heard in the game. Below that is another list of the actual mp3 versions with performances by the bands that wrote them. It's mostly from my favorite genre, Melodic Death Metal, but there's the odd other Metal track as well, like Alestorm.

In other news, the 1.1 release has no reported bugs so far (aside from the odd passability error, which I'll fix for a final FINAL release lol). I've gotten some good feedback via emails as well, so I'm glad there are people out there playing and liking it. Enjoy the music!

This should be the final release

I've tested it, and there were no bugs along the way.

If somehow you encounter any other ones along the way... well... I'll hate you forever. Kidding, but seriously, I didn't run into any problems so no one else should. This version has the RTP charas all in it for those without RTP installed, so there shouldn't be anymore crashes for those users either.

On the plus side, I only had 3 ppl tell me about the problems, so I don't think i pissed TOO many people off. I just hope the 80 downloaders check back here before they decide to play... :S

Once again, if you're going to review it, please make sure you're playing the 1.1 version.

RTP and NO RTP Versions

Well, a game breaker exists in the 1.05 version. Imagine that. I'm not so sure, but I think if you download the newest versions you can carry over your save files... Maybe someone can clear that up for me. I merely fixed a switch fix. If you saved AFTER the screw up, however, I think your file is dead. And again, I apologize, but I think we can all agree at this point I just suck. Now I remember why I never released anything for 10 years, the game never seems to work for others the way it works for me.

Anyway, there's a version with the RTP and a version without it. The RTP included one should fix those game crashes people without the program are having.

Release 1.05!

Yes, it's already available. Thanks to the efforts of demonlord5000, I was able to fix many of the mistakes that were added after the initial beta testing phase. Yeah, I screwed up a few times lol.

I'm much more confident in this release, and I'm sure that many will enjoy it. I apologize to those who are bound to run into the bugs on the 1.0 version, and I hope you take into consideration the new fixes if you are to review it.

Thanks goes out to McBick for testing, and especially Jimbo, who helped me turn an otherwise unplayable game into the fun adventure it has become.

I plan to rewrite the walkthrough this week, so if you have any questions in the meantime, post them here.

My next step is to translate the legendary French game 'Dyhortfight' by Bradgeone, and I'll be working steadily on Eden Legacy II while I do. Thanks to all those who play!

Major apologies!

Somehow I ended up making a new bug right before the release. It's fixed and I have just submitted the replacement download.

For those who already have it, after you beat the first boss you'll have to re-enter the cave to get the crystal ball.

Again, I'm very sorry for this unforgivable hiccup.

Release 1.0

So here it is, version 1.0 of the game!

Please post comments, complaints, suggestions, or whatever other kind of criticism you can think of on the main page.

I'll probably make a version 1.1 that fixes any other major issues in the next little while, but aside from that, I'll be using all your suggestions for the DELUXE Edition. It will NOT be minimalist in any way, so any suggestions you have will be taken seriously.

I'm off to finish my last 3 assignments of the school term, and after that it's a long month of drinking my ass off! During hangovers I'll be hard at work on translating a French classic RM game by Bradgeone known as DYHORTFIGHT, and steadily working away on Eden Legacy II: Children of Eden.

Hope you all find something to enjoy in this game! If not, the music is still pretty kick ass :P

Only days away!

I just finished my second play through.

I made the odd change here and there, but nothing seemed too out of place. Everything works as far as I can tell, and it's about that time to finally release the full version. If there are any major bugs still in the game, I'll have to fix them for a version 1.01 release, but I'm really hoping I won't need to. As for any other discontent from players, I'll make sure to read all criticism on the main page and implement new ideas into the DELUXE EDITION. I consider this first version to be my stylistic, minimalist piece, made pretty much for me. The DELUXE EDITION will be more for the players, so I will definitely take your criticism seriously for that release.

So, I'm a week away from finishing my second school term and only a day or two away from my first major release. I've made more changes than I originally thought I would since the first beta, but they've made it quite the beefy project. I already have my sights set on the second game, and I'm doing my best to make it as different as possible from the first game, while trying to own a new stylistic type of gameplay.

So keep an eye out on the front page, I'll be there soon!

2nd beta tester and final trek!

McBick is the newest beta tester, and marks the ending of the fixing process. I've gone through and reworked way more than I had originally set out to, even going as far as adjusting the level up system for more seamless transitioning. As I've stated before, however, the ending is way too abrupt, and I am going to add in a final mission of sorts to replace the crappy one I have right now. This should clear up exactly what has happened, and what you will have to do before the game finally ends. I'll admit, even I had no clue what the hell was happening in my play through. I didn't really care either, but I should have.

Now all that's left to do is to finally finish the dungeon in Atlantis so it's not so boring, make one more house for one of the cities, and to make that final mission. Unfortunately, there won't be a testing process for that, so we'll all just have to hope for the best.

I was going to wait and say this later, but I may as well get it out of the way. I realize I've made some pretty odd graphical decisions with this game, and I've gone back and fixed a whole bunch of them to make it more interesting. But when I release the full version, whether you agree with it or not, things are the way they are meant to be. It's probably my obsessive compulsive nature, but I want to show a huge progress throughout this series, and limiting myself in terms of some graphical and gameplay elements was the only way I could achieve what I wanted to. That being said, if you are not a fan of the game when I do release it, I would urge you not to give up on the series as a whole. Each game will be VERY different from the last, and will feature story recaps for the areas that really need it. The second game will be a complete mix of a free world and dungeon crawl in one. It will be extremely different in the graphical department, and will boast a new sort of atmosphere overall.

Anyways, that was not to turn people away, but to let them know that most everything in the game was deliberate, given the whole minimalist style of this particular game. I don't want people turned off of the series just because they dislike one entry. Like Final Fantasy, I want each separate game to be completely different, even if "parts" of the stories are linked (although separated by many centuries).

So here I go with the final development trek!

My Happy Day!

Well, it was a long one, but it ended well.

I think I found an easy fix for my mp3 problem. It's a newer patch, kind of an add-on to the mp3 patch I was using before. I'm pretty happy, I think it should work for downloaders now because I can actually listen to the files in the BGM player now!

If it doesn't, I'll just include the patch in the download (setup, that is) and it should work from there.

Anyways, big thx to the makers of that.

As for the rest of the day, I did a major cleanup of this project. I made new monster parties for each area, fixed the encounter rates (though I kept them quite high for the world map), made the houses accessible for each of the towns (yes, this means there are a TON more areas to explore), and fixed a few more bugs found by Jimbo. Little ones, but every little bit helps. So here's an updated list of what I need to accomplish:

-Populate the new houses
-Finish beautification of Atlantis (just the dungeon portion, the rest is done)
-Make sure ALL skillsets are available in each dungeon
-Fix the ending. This won't happen until Jimbo gets there, as his input would be of great benefit to the project.

So all in all, a very productive day... which means a very unproductive day in terms of school work. And I only have 3 weeks left. Yikes! Anyone else absolutely HATE group work? Anyways... off to do more on it, I feel like I'm on a roll.
