So, I haven't spent all "that many" days working on this since I've been busy preparing applications to yet another masters program (some of us enjoy the absence of happiness in our lives). However, I have finally gotten through the most excruciating elements of rpg making. Yes, I created and assigned all the magic spells to the 10 characters, making sure that each character class is different and learns their skills in different ways. Some naturally take on new abilities as they level up, some have to buy new spells, some have to do both, and of course, our main hero still gets to choose his skills as he levels up.

The second point of business I finished up was the issue of teleportation. I placed the teleports in each area (which took HOURS), doing it all at once to avoid missing anything. That's really where the worse rm bgs come from, not properly setting teleportation events. So we'll see if my new method worked well, or if it fried my brain so much that errors occurred anyway.

So yeah... nothing really interesting to mention, I suppose. I still have to make the final two dungeons, one more town, and then make the 10 character endings (that part will actually be fun though, as I haven't allowed myself to be so flexible with the story in these games so far). And then the beta testing will commence, as I've said many times before, I'm still aiming for mid-August for that. If that works out well, an end of August release is still quite possible.

I have some people lined up to beta test, but I'll see how my play through goes this time before I start sending it out to them. It really is the FF2 of the series (nes), adding quite a bit to the system of the original game, but whether or not you'll like it depends on what type of gamer you are. Personally, I think I prefer the first game, but I have yet to play any of this game yet, whereas I played the first one constantly as I went along making it.

Anyway, it occurs to me that I could probably start playing it once I put in the level events... maybe I'll do that tonight and get a head start. If I had to guess, I'd say the game is 80% finished. Not so bad considering I started in March!

Damn, i was kinda hoping this would be out by now. Good to know it is still being worked on though. I guess i wouldn't mind the change of pace. I have downloaded the deluxe edition for the first game but I probably won't touch it until I've finished with the sequel. If you need any extra beta testers, I suppose I might be willing to help, just so long as I don't miss out on any HUGE changes to the final.
Thx for offering to help, I think we're all good for testers right now though. And I couldn't promise no huge changes to the final version, I guess I won't have any idea until I actually play the thing myself. I'll post an update as soon as I finish making the level up events, got 15 of them done the other day.
