It is, but she is only on-screen for that one box. Then it switches to images of Tristan and Navine. So, yes, a little redundant, but for the sake of consistency.
As for the shading, yeah, the Mak a Do! images have little imperfections, but they are very nice overall. I like to think they make the characters... human? I dunno! *Insert justification here.*

Strongly agree, in spite of your counterargument.
Agreed, the face in the message window is very redundant. Don't be afraid to break away from consistency for the sake of balance!
