RTP EXPANSION MAY BE REQUIRED: http://rapidshare.com/files/419850720/RTP2.rar.html

-=Staff=-
Programming, mapping, and story: Deckiller
Graphics and overall influence: Kentona, Mitsuhide, Zeph
Music selection: Deckiller, Edchuy, Dezz123, Orpheus
Characterization: The entire RMN community

-=Overview=-
Legend of Denadel was my third project; the demo was created in 2010 after playing Hero's Realm and getting to know the insanely active RMN community of the era. After amassing about 2,000 downloads, I took down the demo. I reposted it fairly recently.

The inspiration for this "semi-community game" came from my playthroughs of Hero's Realm and Final Fantasy VI Advance, and also from my work on the Ultima Island community game.

Most of the graphics will be RTP or RTP-oriented; however, I plan to use smaller sprites and classic side-scrolling enemy graphics, like most old-school RPG Maker games.

Gameplay will be classic side-scrolling ATB, though the DBS will be used to its fullest. That I can promise you. There will be a classic level-up system in this game, though I will be throwing some twists in. Dungeons will be a mix of puzzle-oriented and old-school romps.

-=Chapter 1=-

The Kingdom of Denadel is in turmoil! For the first time in a century, the Demons are on the offensive! Demon attacks have been reported in the area of the Wachenta Caverns, and the King of Denadel is extremely worried that it may be the sign of an mass global invasion. But the attacks have been minor thus far, and the King believes that nipping the source of the attacks in the bud will quell the threat before it truly begins. The King has a powerful weapon to cleanse the cave of any demons, but there's a problem.

Those who release the cave-cleansing weapon will almost surely die before escaping. It's a suicide mission!

Obviously this hasn't been worked on in ages.

Why hide the fact that it's been cancelled? It's 2018. These projects serve as stepping stones for us, and there's no shame in being honest. Sometimes we see them through to completion; other times things just don't work out. I bit off too much than I could chew as a naive 20 year old who was going to school full time AND working full time, and it just fizzled. The demo is pretty good, overall, if unpolished - but was this really going to turn into a 20 hour game?

I still think there is a market for a FF6 version of Hero's Realm, and I still want to reuse these maps, but it will be in a different context and a different medium. Legend of Denadel was a great learning process while I was a noob to RPG Maker and while I wish this project had done great things for the community it unfortunately was not meant to be.

To everyone who believed in me back then, I'm sorry I let you down when it came to completing some of my projects. Things just happened so fast and I ended up doing all sorts of other things in RPG Maker that I was never able to go back to my basic projects (this and Carlsev Saga II).

Ah, you have to time the triggers right. Dodge on the 5th or 6th turns, and do this twice until you have the option to use the nearby guns. That will wipe them out.

I am always looking for reviewers for my games, so if you want to write a review when you're done -- positive or negative -- I would really appreciate it.

Thanks! Nathanson is one of the main characters for the entire trilogy, and he goes through some interesting character changes.
Man I already wanna play it

goodluck ;)
Dudes, you guys, this game is awesome (hint hint I got to play it before anyone else >=D )

Great mapping, great dungeon design, and a few things Deckiller explained to me that will also be awesome.

As of now, all the playable characters are taken. I might add some secret characters later on...not sure yet. This is planned to be a 30-to-40-hour RPG with six chapters, so there will be plenty of NPCs and bosses that could use your name.
well, about my boss/monster, look at these sprites. i would like the first ghost sprites and the silver person. looking for more sprites still.

I hope the bosses will be hard but not Emerald weapon hard :P I like a good hard fight.

I can attest to this--yes, they are pretty challenging...but they're not impossible.

Well I woulden't say he was impossible..

But a good challenge is fun because when you win it makes it all the better. and some optional bosses would be fun too.

Emerald weapon was actually pretty easy with someone that had max HP, and only 2 materia slotted. (barret got max hp fairly quickly)

Anyways, this looks pretty good so far. Sub'd!

Thanks! Now that I'm back in school and my work hours are cut, I'll have more time to spend on this game.
When will it be released...? o.o
Emerald is very easy with Knights of Round, two mimic, Zero Bahamut,4x slash & 2x slash. but anyway..

I will be waiting to see how everything turns out for this game.

I also thought of how I'd join the party in Chapter 4.

WARNING: This is very long, so if you wish to read, please bear with me!

When the player gets three of the characters in said chapter (Linkforce, Orpheus, and Savage, right?), they are told that a teenage priest-in-training recently disappeared.

Sadly, that priest is me.

So the party also gets a clue about where I could be (forest close to town), and they suit up and go there.

The forest is dense, but thankfully straightforward; the party just has to remember which path goes where. Around halfway through the forest, they start hearing a faint, mysterious voice. Further inward, however, the voice gets clearer. At the end of the forest path, the party sees me (the missing priest) on my knees.

It gets worse from there; my dark self is in front of me (sound familiar?). He starts blabbing about my various faults, and I keep rejecting him, until he blabs a huge fault of mine AND says that he's me and I'm him in front of everyone. At that point, I scream something like "You're not me!".

My dark side goes berserk and transforms into a grotesque demon (or something else that represents my level of snarkiness and jackassery), I collapse onto the ground, and Linkforce and company have to fight it. After my dark side is defeated, I manage to get the energy to get up, and gather the heart to face it myself. I tell him that he's right, and I can't change it because he came from me. Satisfied, he shatters to pieces, and I briefly glow white, allowing me to use Divinity. Then I join the others to help them.
I'm laharl the paladin dude.
Can you show me how my sprite looks,or are you keeping the sprites a surprise till you finish the game or demo.
