A universe where, through willpower alone, worlds are forged from nothing by newborn gods. These beings oversee their worlds and nuture them in their own ways; some through patience, others through power.

To keep the worlds in check, a council of the eldest and most powerful gods created the Shallow, a swell of darkness that chooses worlds and devours them. Those chosen to be destroyed to make way for future generations are known as the Fated.

The mark of the Fated is treated as a great honor, and all are remembered for their sacrifice.

Not all are willing to become Fated and give up their lives and world, but the Shallow was created to be a devourer of all, the darkness it carries is anathema to the essence of those born purely of the light. Invariably those that fight back are still devoured, and the Shallow continues it's journey.

Our story begins when the goddess Demura and her world become the next Fated and the Shallow encroaches on the land.

I'll eventually give this a try, even though platformers aren't my favorite. * Downloads *
Downloading now. Looks brilliant!
Really fun hack n' slash. Too many enemies though! Maybe I should try it on easy...

I played it on easy... XD;; Then again... I usually do. It's like... easy mode is made for me.

I'm right there with you, especially now that I'm getting older. I'm getting no end to the grief of playing Bayonetta on easy now...something about "not appreciating the robust combo system?" :) I just stumbled across Lux last night and was really impressed by the video. That's some really good character animation too...good enough that if I was still at my last job I would have hired someone with work of this caliber. For what it's worth I wanted your animator to know that. This will be a treat to play. I see that a lot of folks use Game Maker here, which I haven't tried; I've only ever used Games Factory for my actiony things. Does anyone know if Maker is preferable, or are they pretty much the same thing?
It's a pity the game was so short, I would have kept playing it for hours if it hadn't ended so soon.
It's a lot of fun, maybe a teensy bit too easy, but that's not something that needs to be fixed. Maybe a hard mode or something perhaps.
I find it kinda easy too. I like easy, though. But I don't understand people complaining for difficulty.

Also... I love double jumping. Always did!
Haha advanced graphics broke my ancient computer during the first boss fight. Fun until there though!
Gamemaker doesn't get as much love as RM2K3/XP/VX but I'll try it out. It looks fun.

EDIT: I'm not really a fan of side scrollers, but I'm glad I tried this game out, it was pretty fun. XD
Pretty cool. I played as long as I could until my eyes couldn't take the screen shaking anymore which sadly wasn't that long :( .
I was gonna write a review for this game, but I felt weird about it. since I'm also a GG contestant.

Quick comments:
I liked it. I like the controllers, overall gameplay mechanics, the attack combos, magic, double jumping, stopping in the air while attacking, I like all of it. The only thing that felt stiff was that attacking kinda locked the character in a fixed position, so I missed being able to turn the other way while attacking, or moving a bit forward, etc.

Graphics were very very nice, I loved the main character (both of them) sprites, and I loved the feather effect for jumping. Though it was nicely designed, I was not a big fan of the stages. The initial ruins (?) and the forrest seemed unnecessarily generic and lacking character, which bothered me, considering not the same can be said about the main character.

I was also not a big fan of the music because it felt too retro, unlike the graphics. Music is not bad, but it doesn't fit IMO.

Difficulty is OK. I don't like hard games. I played LL on normal, and died 2 or 3 times before the final boss. I was kinda impatient after dying 2 times on the final boss, and I switched to easy, which made him VERY easy. But I don't mind.

Levels are nicely designed.

Story was a ok, just felt a bit lacking. I didn't feel I had a purpose walking through stages, but I guess it's not something to expect from a platformer.

Overall it was a nice game, I like the genre, playing it was fun, but I think the concept of "wind goddess incarnation" wasn't properly explored... I would expect the whole game to be themed around air, wind, heavenly stuff, etc., as opposed to generic caves, forest, spiders and snakes.
I had just gotten to the second area (? it was in a brown cave) and decided to try backtracking (because I hadn't gone to those places requiring triple jumps yet). Going back through the way I came somehow sent me directly to the snake boss.

Edit: After moving on to the next area and dying, I got sent back to the room with the snake boss and had to refight it when I walked to the left.
Thanks for the feedback everyone; I think this has a lot of potential if given more polish and the engine given more options that are as easy to use.

I don't think I'll be updating this particular game much, but a second game with all the improvements is definitely in-plan. Maybe I'll redo what is here as the introduction to that too so the ideas don't go to waste.
what happened to the planet? what will glendys do now? you left so many questions!!! plz make a sequal

Skie did awesome on the sprite~ I totally bite at spriting so I hand drew all the other stuff. It took me forever to get the walking animation right for the minotaur. D:

I actually don't know what Games Factory is, but I do know that if you go in to get a gaming degree at one of the Art Institutes in the U.S. they use Game Maker.
