You're an apprentice of the Fighters Guild in the kingdom of Whitecroft.

During troubling times, you're sent to deliver a message to a nearby town, however your mission shall not end so simply. Fight to uncover the corruption that is threatening to ravage Whitecroft, and become a hero of your kingdom. Help your comrades from the Guild and learn the reason for the unexpected war that ended the life of peace you once knew.

Features:
* A story with turns, twists, and surprises.
* Four main characters with different personalities.
* A crafting system that allows you to create your own weapons, armor, and items.
* Emphasis on exploration and side-quests.

Well it has been more than a year already since Legacy of the Guilds has started.
I've been inspired by Daggerfall, Tactics Ogre, Fire Emblem, Might&Magic, a little D&D and many others. Hopefully it will turn out to be a fun game.

Download Updated to v0.07c - Lots of Bug Fixes!

Ok, I have updated the download.
The previous one had its fair share of bugs, that somehow slipped by me.
They should be corrected in this new version.

Bear in mind, there might still be bugs left.
I will do my best to fix them as they are discovered.

A HUGE shout-out to Roy, who was kind enough to report most of these bugs.
Also bigtime. All of your feedback about this is always appreciated.


Also, your saved games from the previous download WILL NOT WORK with this one. They might load, but will crash eventually.
PLEASE START A NEW GAME.

CHANGELOG:

Version 0.07c:
- FIXED: After the Orc Boss, there is a chest. Inside the chest was supposed to be a reward item. The item is now correct.
- FIXED: More fixes concerning crashes and imbalances regarding some Blacksmithing recipes.

Version 0.07b:
- FIXED: A bug that makes all Alchemy Recipes unusable and crashes the game.
- FIXED: A bug that makes the game crash when attempting to forge certain items. I was due to a misnamed icon graphics file.
- FIXED: A bug that makes the game crash when attempting to attack an enemy without a weapon equipped.
- FIXED: One of the Blacksmithing recipes ("Copper Axe") was essentially free to make, leading to imbalance of resources (infinte selling, haha).
- FIXED: A bug that causes the final battle with Lucan to be repeatable forever.
- FIXED: A bug that allowed the player to leave the crypts before getting a key item.
- FIXED: Some tiny graphical changes in some text-boxes.
- BALANCED: Some tiny balancing on the ATK of some weapons available to the player.

Hi BareGamer! Thanks for your post!
I must admit I have been working very little on the game.
Work and real life stuff, etc.
I hardly visited the site in the past semester because of that.

I have a vacation from work coming up in these months so maybe things can change! It's my hope at least, since I do have some new unpublished content for this game that needs polishing :)
I should put this in hiatus in the meantime, though.
How's this coming along? Hope all is well with it.

@Miracle: lol, it's funny, I do remember I had this idea that when the heroes returned from the first quest the village would have burned down, but I thought I never released that demo!? haha but it's pointless now. Thanks for your words! Always encouraging.

@MKnance: Thanks! And I shall have to think about that, but if it is "pre-rendered" cinematic scenes you mean, I fear they might break the overall feeling of the game. But it's just a matter of how well they are implemented, I suppose.
I remember playing the earlier versions of this game, this thing has really come a long way hasn't it? The introduction is leagues better ("oh no the village is on fire!"), also the mapping has improved by a ton. Really good work so far, subscribed :D

I am working when I can to finally release this! I'm now mapping the final dungeon (Whitecroft Castle), so hopefully the final release is not *too* far off. (But I know myself, so don't hold your breath).


Good to know, and take all the time you need, a rushed game is never good.

Hi Crystalgate!
Thankyou for playing this again. I know it can be boring for someone, repeating content, but as always your feedback helps me a lot.

You're probably right about the progression and balancing. I find myself with little time to work on this, so the last boss wasn't probably very well balanced. I will try and find a way to instill urgency and danger without having to lock the player out of the shops and inns.
I finished the demo. The story has improved considerable since last. It's of course the same story, but now told so that things makes much more sense. I also enjoy the boss fights, bosses aren't a mountain of HP, you have to kill them before they kill you. They aren't a damage race either, unless you're overpowered, you have to stun them to live long enough. Unfortunately, this makes the outcome very dependent on what the RNG says whenever I use the Kick.

One big problem I noticed it that the characters gain very little power from progressing. How powerful your characters are depends almost entirely on how many extra battles you fight, how much time you spend mining and harvesting and so on. This wouldn't be so bad except for the game at some point turning it to night and locking you out from shops. If you're to weak to beat the upcoming boss, you're screwed.
