You're an apprentice of the Fighters Guild in the kingdom of Whitecroft.

During troubling times, you're sent to deliver a message to a nearby town, however your mission shall not end so simply. Fight to uncover the corruption that is threatening to ravage Whitecroft, and become a hero of your kingdom. Help your comrades from the Guild and learn the reason for the unexpected war that ended the life of peace you once knew.

Features:
* A story with turns, twists, and surprises.
* Four main characters with different personalities.
* A crafting system that allows you to create your own weapons, armor, and items.
* Emphasis on exploration and side-quests.

Well it has been more than a year already since Legacy of the Guilds has started.
I've been inspired by Daggerfall, Tactics Ogre, Fire Emblem, Might&Magic, a little D&D and many others. Hopefully it will turn out to be a fun game.

** Current version: Demo v 0.06

Lead:
* rabitZ (me)

Testers (thank you very much for their valuable input):
* Janneke
* Everguard
* Scourge
* Cheveyo

Download Updated to v0.07c - Lots of Bug Fixes!

Ok, I have updated the download.
The previous one had its fair share of bugs, that somehow slipped by me.
They should be corrected in this new version.

Bear in mind, there might still be bugs left.
I will do my best to fix them as they are discovered.

A HUGE shout-out to Roy, who was kind enough to report most of these bugs.
Also bigtime. All of your feedback about this is always appreciated.

Also, your saved games from the previous download WILL NOT WORK with this one. They might load, but will crash eventually.
PLEASE START A NEW GAME.

I apologize for any inconveniences!
Feel free to comment here with any complaints, bug experiences, suggestions, criticism, praise or general comments!

Thank you very much!

CHANGELOG:

Version 0.07c:
- FIXED: After the Orc Boss, there is a chest. Inside the chest was supposed to be a reward item. The item is now correct.
- FIXED: More fixes concerning crashes and imbalances regarding some Blacksmithing recipes.

Version 0.07b:
- FIXED: A bug that makes all Alchemy Recipes unusable and crashes the game.
- FIXED: A bug that makes the game crash when attempting to forge certain items. I was due to a misnamed icon graphics file.
- FIXED: A bug that makes the game crash when attempting to attack an enemy without a weapon equipped.
- FIXED: One of the Blacksmithing recipes ("Copper Axe") was essentially free to make, leading to imbalance of resources (infinte selling, haha).
- FIXED: A bug that causes the final battle with Lucan to be repeatable forever.
- FIXED: A bug that allowed the player to leave the crypts before getting a key item.
- FIXED: Some tiny graphical changes in some text-boxes.
- BALANCED: Some tiny balancing on the ATK of some weapons available to the player.

I hope you don't mind rabitz, but I went to some of those credit sites and they have some pretty good midis.
I was thinking of using one or two, but I'm unsure if there is any issue with just downloading them.

Hmm... I don't know... the daggerfall ones I'm pretty sure are free...
Thanks, I was only wondering about the daggerfall ones (They are pretty good for themes I haven't already covered)
Just a quick question: How did you get the Alchemy scripts to work? Whenever I try them, I only get a blank page.

Hmm... There is a whole load of variables at the beginning of the scripts that you have to modify...
and you have to call the script using $scene = Recipes_List.new or $scene = Alchemy.new.

With which of the two screens are you having problems?
It's the alchemy script, not the recipe.
However, when I select the script and copy/paste, all that appears in the script editor is a completely blank page. So, how did you get it to work?

Well, I don't remember having to do anything particular. I uploaded a copy of the script in my locker: http://rpgmaker.net/users/rabitZ/locker/alchemy_everguard.txt

perhaps if you selected it from there, press INS in the script editor in order to create a new script page, and then PASTED the contents of that text file, sorry I'm not being much help :S
Thanks that helped a ton!
However, if I try to run the game, it tells me there is an error in this line
CHECK_RECIPE_BUTTON = Keys::SHIFT
I think that applies to the recipe script, but I can't get that one to appear either.

Oh! You're right. I have that line as
CHECK_RECIPE_BUTTON = Input::A
instead. Try that.
Totally want this NOW!!! Go for it :D
By the way I found a bug on legacy, when you talk to the guard at the second town, and your given the choice to bribe him, inquire about the door, or ask to get through, when you hit cancel it does not exit it selects one of the choices over and over.

Also I noticed that Mansel seems to be faster than Noish, since Mansel seems like kind of a bruiser, I just thought you might make him slower than Noish.

Small stuff I know, but if it were in my game I'd like to know about it! lol, so just telling you.

I am eagerly awaiting another demo by the way, like I told wowpebbles my computer has been down for a month, now that is back up and running I am adding finishing touches to my game "The Beginning", hope you give it a play! Thanks should be out in less than half a week.

Great news! I can't wait to see The Beginning!

hey Ravenite!

thanks for reporting the bug! It shall have to be fixed, then. :)
about the mansel "speed", well, battle balance is always a Work In Progress. :)
And talking about progress... It has been slow, but a new town and two new plot-related cutscenes are on the works. Stuff like blacksmithing and lore-books are being added too.
A lot of other maps have been completed too but you know, real life does take our time from game-making, right?

Good luck with your game, too!
I've decided to subscribe to this game. I'm been checking in when I had the time, but since I just created this account I never had time to comment or subscribe to anything.

The screenshots look pretty good. After playing the demo, I'd have to say I can't wait to see a little more. If you're still accepting feedback, let me know! I wrote a few things down that I noticed. However, by the look of what's already been commented on, most of the other guys already told you.

oh hi Skylark! thanks for subscribing. I think you had the chance to play the last demo, right?

And of course feedback is still accepted and appreciated. Feel free to let me know about your impressions. There is a blog post where you can post all the feedback you want, and of course there's the screenshots.

Work on this still continues! I don't know yet if one more demo will be uploaded before the final game, but if a new demo is completed, I will let everybody know with an appropiate post.
The other comments posted in the blog relating to feedback for the demo pretty much covers everything I was going to mention. I'm sure progress has came a long way since then. By the way, your interface and HUD setup looks really interesting.
I don't know if this question has been answered elsewhere (haven't been on the site for a LONG time) but how much progress have ya'll made, and how close are you to another demo or a beta? I'd be willing to beta test if you want

I'd also be interested in beta testing if that is something you need.

well thankyou Skylark and Everguard. Progress certainly has been made, most of the bugs mentioned about v0.02 have been fixed, for instance.

The plot is about halfway through (a little more perhaps), but a lot of game mechanics are still unfinished or not-started.

I'd say a new demo is not near. A closed beta could be more probable, but if this changes we'll let you know.
If a demo is indeed released, it will be last demo.
Carvonica is at this moment the primary tester, but thank you for your offers of beta testing.
