Bowser has stolen the Princess (*gasp*) and taken her to his MOON BASE....IN SPACE! However, Mario will have to make his way through the Block Plains, past the Pirate Cove, across the Ancient Desert, over the Jungle Gorge and up Pandora Mountain to get there!

This game is a collaborative effort between Solitayre, GreatRedSpirit, Hexatona and kentona.

A special thanks goes out to Deckiller, Max McGee and ShortStar for play testing (and Deckiller for a guest level!).

This game requires the SMBX engine to play. Please download the engine from here:
DOWNLOAD

-Extract the 'Mario vs The Moon Base' folder into SMBX's Worlds folder.
-Start SMBX and select Start Game.
-From SMBX's menu go One/Two Player and select Mario vs the Moon Base from the scenarios list.

Thanks for playing!

Online Play

I just found a guide for how to connect to other people and play this game cooperatively online. It is amazingly complicated and unintuitive, just like everything else in SMBX.

I just have to know, has anyone tried or done this? I'm really interested to know if it works. If anyone manages to get this to work, post here and let us know about it! I think it would be really cool (and likely game-breaking!) for people to be able to play Moon Base together.

Thanks! The problem was pretty much the ball. I managed to stomp his head once, but the ball would continue to bounce like crazy.
Strange that apparently it only happened in my computer.
Hmmm, it's not exactly stoping me from finishing the game or anything, it's just something I'd like to point out.

I'm very near the end of game now, and I just found out that the mecha koopas (Or whatever their name is) are acting weirdly in my game too. They dash (Very, very fast) back and forth. I can handle them once I know where they are, but does anyone have any idea of what is wrong with my game? :/
There are some other enemies that might do that too, like those little dark ball things on the moon.
Are you able to record a video? It *might* affect your ability to defeat the final boss, as you need to throw mechakoopas at him.

Also, have you tried reinstalling SMBX? Or playing it on another computer?
Here we go (I never used a video recorder before, lol). They come flying from out the screen and are faster than I can react, but I can dodge then if I know they are coming.

I did reinstall the program more than once. I downloaded it from the link on the gamepage and from other sites, and I don't have any other computers I can use :(
whoa that is insane. I have no idea why that might be.

I can try editing the .txt file associated with the mechakoopas. I have heard that the speed modifier tag is giving other people issues in SMBX, and I know that I changed their speed.
Thanks! I don't know if this helps, but they are like that on all the levels. So far, at least. I'm on moon patrol.
Okay, quickest would be to open up one of the level folders (say 6-2 Lunescape) and open up npc-165.txt. Delete the line "speed=1.3" completely, save the txt file and restart the game and play Lunescape again and see if that addresses the problem. If it does, copy that npc-165.txt to the rest of the world 6 level files!
It worked perfectly this time :D Thanks, that makes everything much easier!

I keep recommending games to this guy, and he keeps playing them, probably because they're good games that he likes.

This world's pretty easy, was running around with 99 lives for most of the game, except the final level before the boss which took me about 20~ lives. Even then there was no danger since alot of levels have guaranteed lives that are easily obtainable. Some of the levels are pretty interesting, especially the space ones. Not a fan of the lifeline level though, that gave me valley of bowser 2 ptsd and its worse because its a water level as well.

This is the first custom world I played for smbx aside from the default smbx campaign, and its pretty good. Generally the dragon coins are placed in sadistic spots and I had max lives so I didnt really want to get all of them. The levels also tend to favor luigi, but perhaps mario's speed is still better, dunno. I do like the yoshis island yoshis, they're cute.
If we could've turned off lives I would've pushed for it, lives are trash! (although finding an actual "cool" thing to find in odd places or for collecting coins would be tricky, the star to unlock stuff seen in the later RMN World would probably have been best)

Lineline's my favorite level gimmick but I can absolutely see not liking it. It's like a weird pseudo-autoscroller, getting it work right in water in SMBX took some playing with the speed and it never quite gets there, and the p-switch part is dumb and idk why I thought that was good level design.

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it. also Yoshi Island Yoshis own

the only cool thing about providing extra lives is it gives players something else to collect for that small hit of dopamine. but honestly there are other ways to provide that rush.
