Do the Right Thing!

Ok ladies and gentlemen, this is a spoiler!

Welcome to the review of one of the craziest game I ever played. A game that was sitting since a long time in my little hard disk: Spike Lee's The Twilight Zone.
The game of games!
No, really, this game and all the story is an excuse to offer a collection of action minigames made with rm2k3, an engine not optimized to make action minigames... but yes, Strangeluv made an epic effort to create this epic game, so for this time, I'm going to spoil this great story... well just the beginning.

This is the story of four different characters: Psyburn, an asian boy, Sonic (yes, him!), Spitz the teenage wolf and... a girl with a shotgun (but no name!). These four unlikely heroes will meet Spike Lee, the great dirrector, and kidnapped to star in his new movies. Your goal is to help them survive the deadly traps (sounds almost like SAW) of the director and get their revenge!

But, as I wrote before, this is just an excuse to let us play minigames, divided into five sections, one for each character, plus the final one. Let's see each part (I will write them in the exact order I played, but you can do what you want as long as you... Do the Right Thing!):

War, war never changes...

Girl with Shotgun - Our only female protagonist has to fight zombies with her shotgun (duh). Unfortunately the undeads cannot die but are temporarily made harmless until they regenerate their head. This part is cool and fun to play, but unfortunately a bit glitchy: it freezed one time, and another I wasn't able to enter the room with the needed key. On my third try I finished the level that ends with a section in which you don't control the character but the sight, and have to shoot quickly all the approaching zombies.

Psyburn - The asian boy has first to exit a jungle together with a dinosaur, avoiding raptors and collecting food for the dinosaur companion of he will bite him. It's rather easy and I did it on my first try but it's just the first part.
The second part is about avoiding angry Pokemons, mines and sights, it may seem chaotic due to the visual effects (it's war!), but in reality it's quite simple if you take your time, since there is no time limit at all!
Third part is the hardest one: Psyburn has to snipe all enemies in a limited time BUT you have to shoot them when they show their back or side. The problem is that many do not change stance and stand still look straight forward... the trick is shooting on the tile on their left or right. And it will work! If only I knew this before... anyway Psyburn has probably the funniest adventure of the four heroes!

Sonic - It's platform time! Jump, run, roll to kill enemies and stop do avoid what the monkeys throw to you. This is probably the shortest minigame that ends with the showdown with Kinky Kong and adds some more obstacles. Again, take your time, focus, and you can win!

Spitz the Wolfie - Wild West means shooting! First there is a duel in three parts in which first (remember this!) move the sight o Spitz to load the un and THEN move it to enemy and shoot him as fast as you can. Took me 3-4 tries but it's not difficult if you know what to do. Then a shooting gallery: riding a horse our heroic wolf sheriff has to kill the squirrel bandits shooting them and shooting chests to reload his gun, while avoiding projectiles. This part took me two tries, because I learned that "fanning the hammer" (means shooting as fast as you can) unloading all the bullets on a single enemy, reload and move to the next one works best. Spitz part has the most aestetically pleasant scenarios, I think!

How many games let you play as Eddie Murphy and kill hordes of robots with a sword? Just this one!

After this part there will be another sections with Eddie Murphy, robots, clones and Samuel L. Jackson! Yas, it's another minigame and it's not too hard (I died only once, anyway remember that you cannot kill the turrets!) and leads to one of the most epic endings I've ever seen! Fantastic!

The game has mixed graphics (a putpurri of rtp, edits, rips from various sources etc) but it's clearly not a game that has to be taken seriously, anyway no one can stay serious while playing this wacky adventure. There are a lot of puns and funny moment and strangely I found no minigame to be too frustrating (well, maybe the sniping part), so yes for me this was good time! Going back to the graphics they come from different sources, exactly like the music. Now, except for the glitchy part in the Shotgun Girl section I found no errors/bugs or problems with the game. Mapping is... serviceable to the game, I mean are we really discussin this?

Final Verdict
Yes, this game is a joke, it was not made to create a serious adventure or an epic game... still it's pretty competently made, original and epic! Even if I completed it once I will probably see myself boing back to it due to its unique features. Oh and there are a lot of places to save and the possibility to choose which minigames you want to play makes it possible to reload and play only those you liked most! Perfect, I guess!

Ok, there are some minor problems, for example the part with Sonic has a weird key setup, but given that I was able to complete the game fully in a short time, enjoying it with no problems (oh I really wished it was even longer!)
Psyburn, the girl with a shotgun and Spitz were really cool (sorry, I never liked Sonic!) and memorable characters.

So? This is what I call a cheesy and fun game, the rating is over there, and yes it's 4/5. So now... Do the Right Thing.

I opened this game like 10 days ago. It was extremely embarrassing. But thank you for the kind review.

You know what? This game made me laugh from the beginning to the end (except the sniping part, I hated that!).
Especially the end. That was brilliant!
