Taret Blade is a tactical RPG for RPG Maker XP created by Shadowtext. In part, it's there just to prove it can be done.
Taret Blade is the story of a war between two rival territories. The people of the Summerlands have warm, comfortable temperatures year round and their crops always grow. The people of the Winterlands live in eternal night, and have trouble growing much of anything. Their people are increasingly weak and prone to rickets and other ailments.
Eventually they can take it no more, and beg their brothers on the other side of the world for a grant of land on which they can get nourishment, but the people of the Summer refuse. Left with no recourse, the people of Winter march to war, to take the lands by force.
The war has been raging for years now. The player will control the Allerion, a designer of weapons for the armies of Summer, and Belegriath, a researcher on the side of Winter, as they fight for their respective sides, but come to feel closer to one another than to their superiors.
The backbone for Taret Blade is now called the "Acari Engine." It will be provided as-is (and separately from the game itself) in the interests of Open Source, but it's no longer being made in anticipation of others using it.
