Just finished the game (well, me and a friend did). Pretty much did the whole thing in one sitting (except for up to the plant boss, where it initially crashed).. I'd estimate approximately 5 hours in total.

Don't know what to say really. I thought it was awesome. I'd expand on my thoughts but that'd just turn into a lengthy, lengthy review... (Which may appear soon) Let's just say I was impressed and surprised on many levels.

An RM masterpiece.

Woah I'm extremely glad you think so. Can't wait to read your full thoughts! And yeah I wish I could get rid of that crashing bug but you would have to make 2k3 un-retarded to do that...
Hey, I'm still playing this, slowly, but whenever I go into the onion-snake battle, the transparency on the windowskin goes really weird.

I like the game, and there's a lot of cute stuff in it, although there just seems to be some polish missing(as in "this game would be better in VXP what a surprise"), but I guess the little touches here and there make up for it.

This is weird because I think this game is one of the more polished games (or Rm2k games, if you will) that I've played.
In many ways it is, it's just it feels like it's going to fall apart at any moment a lot. Maybe that's just me though~

I agree, there are definitely some rough spots and missed opportunities in the game. The revisions the author made help; but it's clear he took more time in some areas than he did in others. The whole beach looked fantastic, but in some of the other areas it looks like he cut some corners.

The next person to mention RMVX is getting kicked in the throat.

Not too sure what you mean by this. Would you mind elaborating on this?

Well, I mean, there are some passability errors(the first that comes to mind are the cliffs to the bottom of the screen in places thoughout the first cave, one of which you can swim over :x), little bits in the maps where walls and cliffs and different objects don't quite match up(I don't mean that the graphics clash(there is a bit of clashing but it's not too bad), I mean where the edges of things are missing and little things like that), and other things like how holding shift without moving makes you look like you're flying, and how you have 3 skill slots but each skill can only go in one, which is really limitting, as well as obvious stuff like the fact that the 2k3 battle system is just plain messy. (also, if you quit out of skills before choosing a target, sometimes Leo will randomly use a roll attack I think?) Just little things everywhere that are mostly lol2k3, but kind of take out of the rest of the polish for me.
Yeah, I am aware of some of those. I admit, I could have polished it the maps some more. The thing with the battles is just 2k3 but I didn't find it to be that distracting (it also works to your advantage). Could be just me. as for the thing with the skills, it's structured that way. Like you're given a choice between Rampage (offense) or Heart (healing) with Leo, or Sniff (item finding) or Snarl (debuffing) with Daisy. I tried to make those matchings as interesting as I could!

As for the snake, I put it transparent so you could see its tail to know where to attack first. It was difficult to fit the entire snake in otherwise! So that's a design issue that got a little unfortunate, I guess.

Nevertheless, hope it doesn't detract from the enjoyment too much!
I used an apple at the first boss and the game glitched.

--edit---

Quick rant: In a game where you can fully replenish just by doing nothing, I don't see the need for save points. That annoyed me after I died for the third time far from my last save.
I encountered a bug. After the balloon minigame, Leo got stuck facing upwards.

Odd... I just replayed that part to check this but it didn't happen to me. Wonder if this happened for anyone else

Yeah this is the "Apple" glitch. I have no idea what causes it and I cannot replicate it. I really hate that this happens. It seems to have like a very low occurrence rate, but still...! It is very annoying! Thankfully "Apple" can be replaced by another skill early in the game and is overall fairly useless except for certain key battles.

Yes, to me.
Oh no another bug report, though maybe it was a fluke...the game crashed when I used Heart in chapter 2 (in a battle with those koopa-like enemies) D:
That's a rare fluke, yeah. Those things happened once or twice during my playthroughs and I tried to replicate them to no avail. It just seems random. No idea what causes that, except 2k3 acting stupid.
I was fighting the frog boss and got an error: "event script referenced item that does not exist". That seems more on 2k3's error than anything though.

I had this, but only twice in the whole game.. Luckily there's like 500 black cats in the game or something.
So I was rewatching Shelock Holmes last night and it felt like a 2 and half hour boss battle in this game

Seriously, where do you did up the music in this game from? When you're looking for rips and stuff, do you just have some ridiculous memory of where you've seen a lion in a game or of when you heard a song in a movie that would make a good battle theme, or do you just kind of drift around archives of this sort of stuff before just stealing anything that looks usable? I've never been a "ripper" so I'm curious.
I download a ton of movie scores for my own casual listening, and I just... used what I thought sounded cool. A lot of the music from the game is from Donkey Kong remixes and alterations/edits I did myself of various movie soundtracks, mostly Fantastic Mr. Fox.
