Survival Points (Darwin will be proud...)

OKAY. So what I did, instead of having MP, is having something called SP (Survival Points) and it operates like MP in a way. Each character is given two standard attack commands. Leo has a weak attack, Roll, and a stronger attack, Maul. Doing Roll takes away no SP. Doing Maul takes away 1 SP. There's a fixed number of SP throughout the game, which is 10. It doesn't increase with level up. I might give the player a chance to increase it by doing some sidequest or something. But overall, it's 10! The SP replenishing items can only be used out of battle.

You get to pick three other battle commands. Each one can either take away or allot you some SP. Here is the rundown of those commands:

LEO:

Roll - Weak standard attack. 0 SP.
Maul - Stronger standard attack. -2SP.
Roar - Has the ability to lower enemy defenses and scare away certain enemies, depending on your level. You won't garner experience but they might drop some items/money. +2SP
War Cry - Do this twice and Leo will attack the entire enemy party. +1SP each time.
Apple - Become immune to status effects for a large number of turns. -1SP.
Scamper - Leo hides for a large number of turns and thus cannot be damaged, but also cannot do anything in the battle until he comes back. Will increase Samson's strength while he is gone. +10SP
Play! - Leo hops around Samson. If Samson has fainted, he will revive with 1HP. If he is alive, he will regenerate HP for a couple turns. -1SP.
Item - Using any item gives you +1SP. There will be a special "Loiter" item that you can use to skip a turn and gain +4SP.

SAMSON:

Dash - Weak standard attack, though stronger than Leo's. 0SP
Rush - Stronger standard attack. -2SP
Whiff - Samson will sniff around the battleground and uncover any items/cash in the area. +2SP
Naptime - Samson will miss a few turns but he will have recovered from any status effects and increased his offense and speed. +10SP
Buttsniff - Similar to a "Scan" technique on an enemy. +2SP
Tantrum - Samson attacks entire enemy party but loses 1/3 of total life. -6SP
Lick - Licks Leo. If Leo has fainted, it will revive him with 1 HP. If he is alive, it makes him regenerate HP for a number of turns. 0SP
Item - Using any item gives you +1SP. There will be a special "Loiter" item that you can use to skip a turn and gain +4SP.

There are benefits to keeping your SP up. The higher your SP, the more likely you are to receive "Darwin Bonuses". Just think about those bonus flowers from Super Mario RPG after you kill an enemy! If you keep your SP over 5, there is a possibility you could receive a bonus after performing an attack. The possibility increases as your SP increases. The bonuses include:

- Beast Boost - increases player's strength.
- Butterflies - increases 1/4 of player's HP.
- Rabbit Run - increases speed.
- Turtle Guard - increases defense.
- Beast Bucks - get some cash.

If both fighters have +5SP at the end of a fight, the enemy encounter will drop an item. If they have +8SP at the end of a fight, the enemy encounter might drop an item and they will recover some of their health automatically.

So yeah, that's it for now.

Sorry, I don't know much about your game except what's posted here. Are Leo and Samson animals? (I hope, with buttsniffing going on...)

I'd like to see more :)

Edit: Oops, this site is still new to me, so I didn't realize there was an entire other section I'd missed. I see now they are cubs :p
