The game Mass Effect Chronicles is a fan-game based on Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 (© Bioware / EA Games ).

The Normandy has been destroyed and Commander Shepard, the hero of the battle for the Citadel is assumed to be 'killed in action'. The devastating news is soon forgotten as you are swept up in the events that follow. Engage in battle against yet unknown forces or simply try to do your best to stay alive through it all, it's up to you. Recruit a team to stand by your side as you explore the galaxy and unravel the mysteries that lie ahead.

Mass Effect Chronicles is a free fan-made RPG that is completely compatible with the canon of the Mass Effect universe, and features the events that took place between Mass Effect 1 and 2 from the eyes of a turian, a salarian and an asari.

In the alpha, you follow Vazill Korturus, a turian Hierarchy soldier who arrives at the Citadel to take care of some personal business and ends up with more questions and enemies than he wished for. It includes the entire Intro Project so far, and game mechanics such as, combat, space exploration, ground exploration, cutscenes, a morality system, an inventory, achievements and more!

The alpha comes with it's own artbook and a manual. Have fun with the alpha, but remember to check our site for more updates, since some of the patches will continue the story as we develop the rest of the Projects.

Keep in mind that this project is a WIP and some things are just placeholders (e.g. the sprites and facesets don't always match.)

is this project completely dead or is there still any hope? in the latter case, is it by chance possible to have the code to carry it forward?
Greetings,

to honour today's N7 day here's a look at the playable characters.
(I don't want to say too much yet as things might change further along the road.
It is currently planned to give people two kinds of armor - heavy and light for casters, depicted here is only one version
Also, i hate to admit it, but I traced the basics of these from in-game models and just added some things here and there ...)

I hope we can pull it off that you can just play it as a scifi game, even if you haven't played Mass Effect before. At the very least there will be an introduction for non-ME-players just in case :)

if only i was a fan of mass effect : (
This project is in a state of Limbo. Basically, to sum up, my life has been focused on my family (had a baby shortly after posting this here), college (one year left!), and work (blah!).

I've been thinking long and hard how to pick this back up after I'm done with college, so, a year from now... but it's definitely something I want to finish. I can only hope a few of my team members still want to finish it with me by that point in time.

Also, seriously considering using RPGmaker VX Ace instead of RMXP, any opinions on that?
btw: the easiest way to keep up to date at the moment is the group we have on the BioWare forums.
I try to keep everyone updated on the progress, even if it's just small stuff in the "what we are working on" thread
hi

I know Norton had started posts on various forums here and there to make people aware of the project way, way back when we had started out and I don't know all the places and don't have the time to check them regularly, sorry ...

Suffice it to say it's nice to see people are still interested in the game and we are still working on it. But it is an ambitious project and it will take us a long time still. Especially since the team is now smaller than we originally started out with, but we're too stubborn determined to give up

MEC will focus on the RPG elements of Mass Effect and combat won't be done with battlers anymore, but with sprites - if all goes well.
I tip my hat to you sir. Looking forward to playing.
I don't know if this is dead or not, but if it is it would maker sense. When you play MassEffect it's a shooter. So people move and there's cover and other shooter elements like snipers. He presented the first battle well but I don't think all battles could be like that. So. he may have backed himself into a corner and didn't realize it, but if he did find a GOOD way of fighting and it flow well then I hope this isn't dead.

Love that basically every char- and chipset is custom made in the game. Also, you CAN punch the interviewer chick. Love it.
i'm really enjoying this game so far please don't say its dead as this would be awesome when finished.
It has a surprisingly active comments thread for how dead it is.

Maybe one day the designer will wander his way back?
aww man this game looks pretty cool is it dead? I see in the comments that some people think it's dead I love fan games and I hate it when they don't get completed. :(
Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure Norton has left this project for greener pastures. Which is a shame. I would love to see a nice side-story after the debacle of the ME3 ending.
This looks interesting.can't wait to see more.
