Megaman Unlimited

It looks like Megaman Unlimited will be released on July 14 2013. This is awesome news! Instead of getting into stupid debates on which game is better when we release our game later this year, let's instead rejoice! Megaman fans will be getting two awesome games on the 25th anniversary of the Blue Bomber this year! If Capcom can't deliver, then we will!!! Huzzah!

Have you guys played Mega Man spiritual successor, Rokko Chan?

I have heard and seen a few videos of it but I am not really playing any custom MM games at the moment so there can be no outside influence on the current work. I don't want to be accused of stealing ideas. So I will play these fan games only after I complete mine.
That game is cool! Thanks for sharing the link, but I am currently playing MMROTF, so I will play that at a later date. As for wolfie here, I have collected 3 of the items as well as testing the wily stages. I will give you an "in detail" update within the next couple days.

Yeah, good idea to not be influenced by other designs. Unfortunately, some things may turn out to be kinda similar by coincidence, etc., but it's a good idea to avoid it best as you can.
I wouldn't worry too much about straying too close to another game by accident. It's not that likely to happen, and I think it's more important to make sure your game is fun than to make sure that nothing in it has ever been done before.

still, it says good things that you're not even gonna tempt yourself with that. good luck, yeah?
Well, I have played and beaten Megaman Unlimited last night. (released on the 14th, beat on the 16th! huzzah! I will say this about it:
"For those wondering, yes, I have played and beat Megaman Unlimited. It is a wonderful game, albeit punishingly hard. There were quite a few design concepts I don't agree with, and quite a bit of fake difficulty. Despite this, it is highly recommended everyone at least try it.
If anything, playing Unlimited has further cemented my faith in my own design decisions for Revenge of the Fallen. I believe it will appeal greatly to those who felt Unlimited was too hard yet still retain a challenge for those wanting one. And that is all I have to say on the matter."

Well mawk, after beating it and seeing some concepts he has applied storywise, we are actually going for similar things...using similar characters. That was quite a coincidence! lol Now people will think I'm copying him, but I'm really not!
haha That guy is such a dork u.u He's got a silly intro of, what I suspect is, himself doing karate moves at the start of his youtube vid in his ugly messy room. Not to mention the hentai casually dropped between his megaman images.

I downloaded and might even play it, although I doubt I'll like it from the comments I see.

5 years? Working on it almost every day? I find that hard to believe.
is it still okay to be excited about both projects?
That game has TERRIBLE checkpoint placement. I downloaded it about an hour ago and haven't been able to reach a single one.
Of course you can be excited about both, in fact one is already ready to be played, just not this one! lol
As far as checkpoints go, yeah, my stages are long, just as long as the ones in Unlimited. However, we have come up with a checkpoint system that I think will work.
I put a checkpoint smack dab in the center of the level, but sometimes that doesn't account for one half of the stage being longer or worse than the other half. So in those rare instances, we place a second checkpoint on whichever half needs it most. Furthermore, to ease frustration levels, the firm MIDDLE checkpoint will be permanent after each game over until you decide to quit and go back to stage select. What this means is: you can Continue over and over again from the perma midpoint until you decide to give up if you've reached it. All temporary midpoints are for normal deaths only that don't result in a game over. I feel this design decision will lend itself well to a whole swath of players. And for folks who feel that's cheapening the experience, just 'stage select' out after every game over, challenge preserved! :P
I thought Unlimited was incredible! I loved the challenge and just thought the levels were just about perfect. Took about 5 total hours to beat the whole game and I loved every minute of it!

I look forward to your project as well. :)
