NOW HIRING
I need somebody to co-develop the project with me, the requirements are:
1. MUST work with Photoshop (CS3 and above). I use overlays in all maps, and to be able to help me with mapping we need to be with the same tools. Help in map development is what I need the most at the moment.
2. I might need help with dialogues too, so being creative in that area and have a wide vocabulary sure helps.
3. You don't need to be a great scripter or eventer, but it would help of course.

Download link below:
Remember it is still WIP, so there might be errors despite all the beta testing, and a LOT will still change in the next releases, maybe even everything!

Last update: November 16th, 2010

- Teaser RELEASED, check download link and don't forget to give me feedback!

- Teaser almost complete, looking for beta testers.
- New screenshots, relatively official ones finally.
- New screenshots, finished intro and starting the actual game scenes.
- A couple new screenshots, about the battle system exchange member and a test mapping one about little characters.
- New Screenshots, finishing up many menu and battle scenes.

Upcoming Teaser

I am almost done with the Prologue of the game, containing a little of the content of game. It is short, but since it uses many of the making techniques I will be using whole game it is already a big step. Before actual release I want to "hire" 1 or 2 beta-testers, that would also help me with a little things I am still in doubt with. If one you are interested, please reply to this topic.
After beta-testing and some touches are made I will release it, maybe in about 1 week or 2. I don't like giving specific dates, lol, it is a hobby, not work.

Introduction

A Dust Tale is a project I am creating based on ideas i've had long ago. It is a little hard for me to create a short version of the story and put it here because everytime i tried it came out different than what actually will take place in the game. Anyway, I am putting a lot of work in order to make it very unique and interesting for an rpg maker game. The ideas, both for story and for gameplay are very much based in games and stories i've seen, such as Final Fantasy, Xenogears, and many more, but the mix of them and some details are my own, which create something new. I really expect people to see certain things and think "wow, just like in that game i loved" because that's exactly the feeling I get when i'm making it.
I consider myself sort of old-school when it comes to rpg maker, having used pretty much all versions of it for almost 10 years, with long hiatus of course. I am well aware there has always been preferences on people, such as the dispute VX - XP or Sideview BS - Action BS and I will always use the one that helps me best achieve what i'm looking for, don't count me into any "clubs" to worship one or the other.
The sci-fi theme is a little harder to create than the fantassy one, specially because of the availability of materials and even the game engine itself is geared towards fantasy settings, but i'm doing my best to keep it working, and whenever I need help I will ask around the forums.

The screen shots are nice. The colors are rather monotone but I don't think it'll detract from the game.

Do you mean the menus? Because well, they all follow a certain palette of course.

But on the tilesets... well for now most are from the same place, so it's obviously the same tileset... but i am a little concerned with that, with creating different environments, problem is the "future spaceship-like" tiles are usually grayish, i am editting and planning to have different colors... but making, say, green / pink spaceships might be a little too colorful and not look like it fits in the game... i still dont know how to make it diverse and still fitting... i'll work something out, lol, no need to hurry tho.
The last update was November 3th?
On the websites and forums yes.... i... think, lol. why?
WOW man, am playing it the prologue demo at the moment and it is GREAT... there are a few grammatical issues, and some of the sentences are a bit off, but other than that great fun so far!

Btw, if you want any help with phrasing your text give me a message! :)
I will need help eventually. The dialogue ... and well everything is still a bit rushed. i'm just going with the DO IT NOW CHANGE IT LATER thing .it's hard making a game striving to be long and detailed with so many systems in it alone... if i keep trying to perfect it all at the first run i'll eventually give up lol
Just remember, I'm always up for helping. ^_^
I'll certainly be downloading and playing this.
anyone else crash ever time they play i keep getting window crashes

ok seems it only dose it when it is not in full screen cant wait for act one
i really forgot to remove the script that doubles the window size, well my resolution is very high and i can't run it well in full screen because i use a wide screen lcd monitor...
Looking pretty great, man... keep it up ;)
Yeah, this game's good and I hope this won't be a vaporware! Your game's close to be a professional one :) For now, this is my next best indie game on my list, besides Alter AILA series, Ascendence, and Recettear.
i'm in love with ascendence too... did he stop making it?
also liked alter aila a lot too. too bad theyre made in 2k3.... i mean, it's a great rpg maker, i loved it but.... the higher resolution is the best part of the xp/vx it really enhances the game, i wish they would port it!
lol, the red writing on this page makes everyone look like rmn admins.
You, good sir, ARE GOD!

Seriousely, this is one of the best game intros I've ever played, classical basics with getting right into action without much knowledge, but still fresh originality. I love the characters, they all feel alive to me with differing personalities that shine through well. Everything from the menu to the environment is nicely detailed and well worth all of this praise. The ending of the prologue has got me really interested in seeing what happens, I will follow this project carefully!

I am ready to say that I would gladly pay the regular sum of a DS game for the finnished product of this if you keep this going! Please keep on going, let it take the time it needs, just do not give up!
well my account number is...

lol jk

i think u give it too much praise yet, i myself KNOW for sure ineed to change a lot yet to make it a good game, i just released this to get feedback on ppl... hopefully it'll be better later.
Looks really good. One of the highest quality projects I've seen. Good luck with this. I hope to play it soon.
