I decided to slap together a demo just to show where I'm going with this project. Feedback would be greatly appreciated, especially since nobody tested this but me.

I'm trying to make the battles much more strategic, requiring thought on who to target first. I'm not sure if I succeeded, or if I went too far!

Definitely let me know what you think so I can invest the last 9.5 hours wisely.

"File system 2c cannot be opened" I'm guessing we need the 2k3 RTP for this?

I posted a notice that you'll need the 2k3 RTP...maybe I should go through the process of including it. But I didn't for Encephalon I and it didn't seem to be a problem. Hmm...
Hey, that was pretty fun. Going in guns blazing with your default party definitely wasn't an option, and there were a couple ways to tackle most of the random battles. I did to a whole lot of party-switching, a definite improvement over the last game, and the classes fit together pretty well. The "weak but high defense" idea was cool the first two times but then it got old, and the "kill it before it permanently raises everyone's resistance" trick was more annoying than anything. Didn't use any items, and Flare and Assault seemed superfluous. Great job overall though, I'd love to see more.

Thanks - I'll probably keep the high defense gimmick to that boss and maybe two or three enemies throughout the game. I kind of like the resistance raiser in the first battle, since there are ways around it and it doesn't make the whole battle very challenging (just a bit harder). It's probably not a good idea to have it in that ice queen battle though :D

There probably won't be a full heal between battles in the final version. Otherwise, items would be pretty useless except during bosses.

Assault can be pretty useful against enemies resistant to most physical weapon types. Flare is useful if the monsters have their elemental weaknesses buffed or if they don't have any elemental weaknesses at all (at the cost of higher MP of course).
