In the form of a Game.

Well, the bad news is I do not see myself completing the Mattress Kingdoms adventure. Truth is, designing gameplay for one screen bed panoramas is just too confining. As much as the maps are cute, I don't leave much room for exploration.
I could make decent story for this, just not a game.

The good news is, I like Mattress Kingdoms too much to just forget about it. I see some community gamemaking event as a good way to release this. Maybe this is what a lot of you were expecting anyway; not a game but just some silly Release Something type effort. If this was you, then there's nothing to be disappointed about and you will see this pretty soon in an upcoming community event.

You can totally do one-screen bed panoramas as a game.

1) Talk to people on the bed to solve a mystery/logic problem. Who's lying?

2) Have battles represented by icons, and throw those icons onto the map, with different colors for difficulty. Add some chests, and voila! RPG!

3) Pacman?
I will take these suggestions into account when I return to this game; especially idea one. I designed the maps with cutscenes in mind, but the lack of free roaming space doesn't fit my need for high adventure. Some of the maps only allow you to have like 12-20 spaces you could possibly walk over. Makes sense to scale the project back to something that is just one or two hours. At the same time, I created a lot of lore for these bed worlds. Telling the whole story would be fun. Thanks a lot for sharing your ideas. It's great to see you helpful to so many.
