Announcement

Portuguese Translation Incoming!

Thanks to an awesome RRR member by the username of PRM, Fragile Hearts 1 is getting a Portuguese version in the near future!

This is the first time one of my games will be given the chance to reach a wider audience, and I couldn't be more excited. Maybe one day I'll finally get to those French versions I've been mulling over for a while... probably not until the trilogy is completed though.

Anyways, I'll post more when it has been released (will be at mundorpgmaker.com).

Final Version Released!

I finished my playthrough and everything seems to be in working order. I made 3 save files as well in preparation for the carry-over to the sequel. You can read up on each of those on the Fragile Hearts 2 main page (under save files).

As well, I posted the secrets portion for this new version on the main page. Check it outtttttt!

Unless there are future problems with the newest version, consider this my final blog for FH1. I'm getting teary eyed. Not really, I'm drinking a celebratory beer. Cheers!

Beta Testing New Version

I began beta testing for v.1.3 today, finally. It plays much smoother overall, and i'm looking forward to seeing how I did on the new content in the final episode. ~Memories Neverlasting~ has taken up most of my time recently, so this dropped a bit on my priority list. Luckily, if I can keep up pace, it will be released sometime this week and I can forget about all the bugs that have been plaguing the current version once and for all.

Little work has been done on the sequel in the last month, but the game itself is probably about 53-55% complete, so it's still on schedule for a December/January release. I have yet to decide if there will be any changes to FH1 when it is included with FH2, but I'll be sure to update the blog if I do.

Regarding the walkthrough, I don't see much need for updating it. The side quests are very straight forward, and the updates to the battle system are too small to really need tutorials on. They're more like hidden perks anyways.

Exploration in v.1.3

I just wanted to list the areas you can explore openly in episode 8 in the newest version of the game.
-Orin (after the attack)
-City of Witches (after it has been burned to the ground
-Prostitown (the real one, also allows you to enter buildings that were previously not open in episode 3)
-Pet shop (with new pets)
-City of Cameltoe (NEW CITY!)

The newest city is the biggest addition, as it is tied in with the final mission and will feature a host of new NPCs, weapons and armour, and buildings to explore. Also, I'm implementing some extra little quests to do while you explore the overworld. This should help you gain some extra experience before the final mission if you need to, and it should make the last episode feel more complete.

A screen of the new town will be posted later today!

Why the new version matters

Here's a list of things that are being updated for the newest version:

-New stat items have been scattered around the world
-A special conditions feature has been added for battles, and each character has a different conditional status affecting their special abilities
-fixes for bugs
-Updated stats for characters and enemies
-NEW AREAS! Episode 8 has been radically changed to allow players to explore both old and new locations.
-Added missing abilities and pets.

I believe that covers everything atm, and I don't foresee more changes coming for this version. A reminder that this will be the final FH1 version to be released until the sequel arrives (which includes this game for easy save transfers).

Progress Report

v.1.3 is getting there.

Just a small update today. On top of all my other crazy business, I'm still working on this game's latest update as well. It kind of goes hand-in-hand with the sequel, so I'm constantly being reminded to update certain parts of it.

I have fixed up a bunch of little things suggested by comment makers on the main page, and I've implemented all the new systems that carry over into the sequel. All that remains left is to add in the new areas for episode 8, which I still have yet to decide how to go about doing so. It will mostly be revisiting areas from past episodes, but I do want to add a couple new things here and there if possible.

Anyways, that's that. It's all slowly coming together, and the changes will definitely make transitioning from this game to the sequel much smoother for players in the end.

Progress Report

Version 1.3 development

It's started. Battles have been implemented, typos were fixed (actually, I think it was only one), and I'm about to begin phase 2.

This will be a relatively large update in comparison to the 1.2 upgrade, as I'm adding a few extra things to the overworld and whatnot to detract from the linearity aspect a bit. I also have about 3 sources of suggestions to go through while beefing it up (and yeah, I am going to do another play through myself before releasing it). In other words, it isn't gonna take me a few days like the last update did.

In the meantime, I'm also making steady progress on the sequel, as usual. Being that they are part of the same game folder, it makes it so much easier to handle when implementing backwards compatible changes.

For info on upgrades 1.3-1.5, check the previous blog for details. I am hoping 1.3 will be the last version uploaded until after the sequel is released, so it's gonna be gooooood.

Game Design

Future updates:

I can't believe it but this game is still getting subscribers 3 months after its release! 36 isn't a half bad number (better than any of my other games). So here is what's next for this project:

V.1.3
- I kinda botched a couple messages in the new version with typos, as seen in Nicob's let's try vids. I'll have to fix those. A couple other bugs were made apparent in those videos that I will be tending to before anything new is added.
- I finally have the special bonuses for battles working perfectly in the sequel, so I'll be transferring those to this game for Fergus, Haddy, and Midard soon. It'll give an extra little oomph where it is much needed.
- Since the second game will be more open world, I'll be expanding this game just a tiny bit with a couple new areas. This may not occur until the next version though.

V.1.4
- This (I believe) will be the version included with the sequel, so the transition and choices will hopefully be a bit more seemless than older version will allow, and it will include 2 savefiles with the 3 different routes chosen.

V.1.5
- Will be included in FH3, and will be (I hope) the final release.

I also want to make a trilogy collection on the new 2kxx engine that will have higher resolution graphics, voice acting, and additional battle elements. But that is a couple years away, so I haven't really started thinking too much on that yet.

Anyways, thanks to those who are still following!

Version 1.2 Submitted!

Alright, so I went through the list of bugs from version 1.11 and I believe they've all been fixed in one capacity or another.

Other things that I did for this version are as follows:
-Changed the battle music
-Edited the end boss a bit
-Added environment descriptions for examination on... everything. Tried to make them as amusing as possible.

I'm probably forgetting a couple other things. Anyways, keep sending in suggestions and bug finds!

Obviously, I'm pretty happy about it. Always good to hear more opinions on it, especially when it's mostly positive feedback!
