Umm... IT should work with 240x160, ne?
As well as, say, 320x160 or something. Uh, reformulating: It can also reduce the size?

400x240 is the closest I can get to a standard widescreen ratio (16:9) without it being hard to convert when used in fullscreen so that the width fills the sides. The whole point of widescreen anything is that you see more stuff on the left and right than you normally would.
This is the basic res. You can only increase the window by an integral scaling factor of this size (2x, 3x, etc.)

author=WolfCoderAnd to avoid the awful horizontal stretching that makes our heroes look fat on modern monitors.

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I dunno about you guys, but I use a fullscreen monitor. This allows me to see more stuff on the top and bottom than I normally would!

it's funny because modern software already works with modern monitors

You're right...
The only thing that the developers gonna to worry about is about the size of the pictures. I think that they will have to do a extra title, parallax or gameover picture to the wide resolution, or then it can be stretched with the resolution change...
