It is a story of how a villager ends up meeting an old wisemen who tells him his village has been raided.
It's a VERY short game, just enough to see how far my ability's take me...(a battle system is a possibility depending if I can get it in). Also, the game is in the Alpha/Beta stage right now so if you find any major mistakes and would like to point them out, feel free(and if you are a sphere user, tell me how to fix it). I really hope my first game turns out well. I know you all will enjoy this game as much as I do.

The rules of the game are stated in the game its self on the start menu. There are 2 classes to pick from, archer or paladin. also theres a choice between genders.its basically about how a wondering villager comes across a portal and enters it, finding himself in a mystical forest. The old man in the forest tells the hero (villager, main character, you, ect.) of what has happened to his village. The hero (of course) goes out to destroy the evil withen his village.

p.s. when you download the game and open the folder, look for engine and click it to start the game.

critics and other things...

please tell me what you might think of the game when finished playing it. I'm hoping that if this demo works out well then I'll be able to start on the actual game (Enternal Eclipse). Enternal Eclipse is (as I might have said before) my dream game which I hope to create, it would be like final fantasy (to big of a dream eh?). the comments of the public will determine wether I'm truly cut out for making games period. for you veterans, remember, I am only a beginner at this and this is my first game ever so just keep that in mind.Enjoy the Beta/Demo Game!

I've always wanted to see someone make a demo that was "completed". If anyone goes "How's it complete if it's only a demo?", the creator can go "It's a completed demo!".

And then I would laugh.

Best name for game EVER!!!

thanks, I just thought the best name for the game would be the most plainly put out (in this case...).
also, if there's anything you think I should add/fix, please tell me.

I know it's cool to be different.

But I'm curious as to what this game/engine has to offer that the RPGmakers don't.

I mean, there is a problem just opening the game.
It might be better to stick with one of the makers.

But I respect you trying something new.

thanks, I just tought it'd be interesting to expand my computer language vocabulary (a little bit of c++ and now javascript) and apply it to making a game (demo).
also, I'm slightly new to the game creation community because whenever I make websites and such, I don't get all public about it, so this is (sadly) litteraly my first time uploading a game onto a site.

It has roughly the same advantages as programming a game from the ground up vs other makers, except with the advantage of being easier to do thanks to JavaScript and easier accessibility to the basic functions needed to make the game. It also has the drawbacks of still being waaaay harder to make stuff and as such first attempts like this will be an even bigger mess than most new maker games.

Still! Good job getting this far I'm sure it was a lot of work, I'll check it out later.
Also for making distribution of your game easier you can take the Sphere distribution, replace everything in the startup directory with your own game and it will automatically start your game when engine.exe is ran. You can just zip that up and make it much easier on people unfamiliar with sphere.

I know I'm going to sound like a dunce here, but when you say replace everything in the start up directory do you mean EVERYTHING, because I don't want to end up deleting the only way to open it period, you know what I mean?
Yeah, everything. You should be doing this in a freshly made copy of sphere and not your current working directory, though (since this is primarily for distribution and you don't want all your other stuff in with it).

It sounds like you installed with the exe, you should probably use the zip release for this so you don't confuse the installer with multiple copies. I don't know where you found Sphere at but I believe the latest releases can be found here: http://spheredev.org/downloads/sphere_release/ (You'll also need the sphere-dlls.zip extracted to the same directory)
