Alter A.I.L.A. Genesis takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. You play the role of a young man known as Leon, who seeks to survive in the harsh environment he is brought into.

Exploration is done mainly via a side-scrolling view. In certain areas, an exclamation mark will sometimes appear, indicating the presence of hostiles. Press Z when this happens to initiate battle, or wait to let it pass. Sometimes battle will be unavoidable. When walking, enemy encounters won't occur.

The battle system revolves mainly around each character's Abilities, which are a set of commands specific to that character. Abilities require AP and EX to use. AP is gained every time a character takes a turn. The default is 2. EX is gained every time a character uses an Ability. The default is 1. Note that this may change depending on the situation.

"Known Glitches"
Due to the limited functionality of the RPG Maker 2003 engine, there are various glitches and bugs which are unfortunately unfeasible or impossible to fix:
- Sometimes during an action, the battle data of a character will be temporarily overwritten with another character's, causing them to not perform as expected for that round.
- In certain cases, player actions can be interrupted by the enemy or other character's actions. To minimize the occurance of this, wait for current actions to finish before selecting an action with another character.
- Using items and guarding doesn't trigger the code to check for enemy deaths. You need to actually use an ability, or let the enemies take a turn.
- Although not a bug, Active Mode should be changed to Passive Mode in the in-game menu to prevent enemies from acting while you are taking an action.

"Hints and Tips for Boss Battles"
- Don't expect to just be able to spam regular attacks until you can use your Exceed ability. You won't win an attrition war with the enemy party.
- Always target the enemy's weakness if you can. If you want, think of this as a Shin Megami Tensei game. :P
- Make sure to keep your HP up. The vast majority of bosses have pretty powerful high EX costing abilities that'll wipe out your party if you're not expecting it.

- That said, keep in mind, the enemy is subject to the same rules as the party. In other words, they're also gaining AP and EX, and they also need it to use their more hard-hitting abilities. So if you can prevent them from using them while still retaining the ability to use yours, you'll be able to beat any boss.
- You can tell how much EX an enemy's ability uses by looking at the name of the ability. Similar to your character's abilities, it'll show up as the number of squares on the left side of the name.
- Of course, the above passes quickly so isn't that reliable of a method. As a general rule, you can expect that:
- Anything that uses an element other than Force likely costs at least 1 EX
- Anything that does multi-targetting likely costs at least 1 EX
- Anything that hits everyone hard probably costs 2 or more EX
- Anything that outright kills someone from full health, or makes you swear "Bullshit! That can't happen!" is likely an Exceed ability.
- Chances are it'll also be very flashy.
- Obviously, there's going to be some exceptions, but for the most part, this can be followed.

- Don't ignore Field Effects either. Bosses don't, and the Field Effects they use generally stack things in their favor. It's not just about dealing as much damage as quickly as you can. A lot of times, it's also about controlling the situation.
- Modes, Field Effects, and Boost ailments all stack. If you're creative, you may be able to create a situation where you can pretty much negate everything the boss throws at you, while tossing out Exceed abilities every turn. Bosses won't stand a chance.

MAP SAVE FREEZE: If you're changing things in this game in the editor and your save file freezes on the world map as a result, press F9, go to switch 112 and 113, and turn them both OFF. That should fix it.

KK's bizarro modes glitch

Okay, I think I see what you're saying now. I'll look into it and see what I can do.

BTW, how should I contact you for testing? Do you have an email address or anything (you can pm it to me.)

Also Mr.Neok, if you are going to make a side-projection, why not make a drama CD thing. :P like some of those popular animes and games do? But instead just make it only a big BIG cutscene.

But drawing's hard.. :<
Nah, if I pull this off right, it'll be way cooler than that.

However, once I do get a microphone, I think I'll actually do it.

Sounds good! I love hearing what other ppl have to say as they're playing. Definitely looking forward to it.

(Small Question: By the way, are the movements at the end of
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIS6k8KWZ_U
supposed to be possible?)

What do you think man :\/

(Thanks. Fixed.)

And yeah, I think I will be able to make something to transfer save-games for bonuses, so make sure to hold onto them! I'm hoping to get this side-project finished asap, so hopefully I'll be able to release it in like half a year's time or something. (Thanks for the idea, missile, I actually hadn't considered that prior).
I think this game will be a good one to start LPing with, as there isn't really a set walkthrough that states everything about the game yet. And there isn't like 20 different LPs going on right now ( at least, I don't think).

I have to admit though, I am kind of shy when it comes to speaking, so it may take a while to get used to it.

Also, I may take some time to replay the Innovationists path back in the original, just so I can say the differences between the two when I come across them.

By the way Neok: For the Turrents, the bosses that you encounter if you try to cross the bridge at the Bridge Facility without the Passcode, why were they so hard to beat?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3wuzrL3J34

That was my best attempt at them so far with my Avg Level 15 (2/3) new game party. Doesn't seem anyone else has a video on this boss so I can't really compare.

Didn't expect such an intense fight to happen this early in the game.
Well, I'm slowly continuing this run of AAG again, now for the sidequests.

The boss in the Slums where you get Ai Di whatever, the thing freaked me out when you heard its movements. Oh yeah, I changed the boss theme that way I don't get hit by that stupid copyright thing again. >>; I'll try and change it into something better.

Heh, guess they finally found you with the music, didn't they?

By the way, which Track is it? It'll help me to know if there's another one besides "Blast My Desire" that's under copyright.

Yeah, when I re-entered to get the Al Di La, I thought to myself "Hmm, the ground didn't shake the last time I was here." Although I thought I heard you mention about that place being too long and have "nothing" counted as being suspicious, thought you'd be ready for that kind of thing.

And good to see that you're back into it, hope you have fun with the post-game ( don't forget the secrets ).
Review written, as promised.

By the way, I think I found a weird cosmetic bug; When trying to change party members at the blue terminal in the Underwater Facility 2, Scott's portrait phases out of the cast. You can still select him, and if you put him in your party he works fine, but it's still weird that the portrait disappears like that. Know why?
Aww, it looks like the double attacks only work with characters' upper tier moves, like Frost Diver and Volt Dial. :(

I also haven't gotten a triple attack yet, though I'm getting the hang of doubles.

You should try it with Dread's Ravage. From my tests so far, it hits ridiculously hard for a 1 EX move and with virtually no setup costs.

I think I'm going to put up a video detailing each character's maximum damage capacity (at least, this will be the best I can do with everything in the game and nigh unlimited money). It might as well be an EX exhibition, though.

I'll go ahead and say that so far I've managed to break the game completely with Violet. Apparently I managed to deal so much damage it refused to display the damage dealt by the final hit of Shooting Star both times I tested it. I've also managed to get either 99999 damage hits with several other characters or multiple lesser hits that add up to over 100k with the exception of only Erin so far (it's not 99999, but it's still an epically good Second Aid). I've also been including some of their normal moves where appropriate (so far, just Ravage and Sniper). You guys think I should go back and just include all of a character's damaging moves?

When I finish recording them all, I'll post two videos. One for the main characters and one for the optional characters to help avoid unwanted spoilers.

I'm not sure if the source of the problem might be just my computer.
As long as it does appear only unique to me, I kinda get the impression.
Also I've been wondering why loading the game is able to fix it.

BTW, how should I contact you for testing? Do you have an email address or anything (you can pm it to me.)
While I do have an E-Mail adress, I rarely check my e-mails.
I'll have to think of a relatively reliable way to contact me, but there should be one.

Reminds me that I was able to walk into the foreground in the sewers.
I guess I'll edit a screenshot in here once I find it again.
Edit: I actually took 3 screenshots. These are the positions where one can walk into the foreground:´

These are from the abadoned city.

By the way I remember a bug in Phase 2:
The Special Operations Unit isn't able to go from Charon to Gallith, wich I think is right so far, however, they can leave the area and go over No-Mans Land through Isle down to Gallith and then back to Charon. I think they aren't supposed to leave Charon.

Edit: When I just did select to enter Ceres City the choices(city-parts) were aligned on the left outside of the message box(No face-set?).
Don't know why, that was the first time that did happen.
I think I just did leave Charon and then selected to enter Ceres City.
I then did cancel and tried again, but it was correct this time. I tried duplicating it with loading and behaving pretty much the same, but it didn't happen again.
Question about your music

Are they original or taken from different games

Not trying to say its a bad thing but i like some of these soundtracks
They're mostly from anime OST.

If you look at the music name and the Album they came from it'll show the anime and stuff.

(Still trying to figure out where that Factory one came from.)
I believe the OST is from various sources. I originally digged the "special encounters" battle music or the music from the trailer and I found it on youtube, the source was some obscure source that I don't recall at the moment. But I love the song selections, they all fit, add to the atmosphere and are just very good to listen to.
By the way Neok: For the Turrents, the bosses that you encounter if you try to cross the bridge at the Bridge Facility without the Passcode, why were they so hard to beat?

I dunno, I thought I'd give people the chance to strong-arm through there if they wanted to, but you're typically expected to find the passcode :P.

It probably has to do with picture setting conflicts. I'll take a look.

Krazy bugs

Thanks a lot! Screenshots definitely really help. All fixed.

Sometimes this happens, I'm guessing due to conflicting message property settings. It'll be kinda difficult to fix it now as it's buried in the code. I'll remember it for AAV though.

Question about your music

More or less what Jay said :P. Some of them come from japanese indie groups as well.

When I finish recording them all, I'll post two videos. One for the main characters and one for the optional characters to help avoid unwanted spoilers.

Nice, I'd like to see this :P.
Well double Double Shot just came through, now I'm really getting the hang of this!
The special encounter theme is called Brandish Headless? by a guy named Saitama Saisyuu Heiki.
DOUBLE VAMPIRE BITCHES!!! SCORE!!!! XD

I don't think a triple move is possible because the menu for the third character doesn't open up at all. Oh well, at least now I know for sure that single-target ex abilities can be performed in sequence.

Just you wait till I make this a necessity for beating certain bosses in the fandisc! (okay, probably not :P)
