Seraphic Blue (セラフィックブルー) is a 50+ hour epic RPG made by Tempura in RPG Maker 2000 v1.51, and is highly-received in the Japanese RPG Maker community, most notably for its story. It has 2 versions: the original (made in 2004) and Director's Cut (made in 2006). The version translated here is Director's Cut.

Seraphic Blue is well-known for its
- Deep and intriguing atypical dark storyline with a deep underlying message
- Highly creative custom battle and menu systems
- Flexible equipping with the Sphere System
- Precise cutscene transitions and dialogue pauses, making the cutscenes feel more alive.
- Custom artworks to accompany some cutscenes
- Awesome music and well-used sound effects
and many more.

Sample in-game video of Seraphic Blue:

NOTE1: This is NOT created by me. It is created by a man named Tempura (known as Sakaki in the game credits). I am the sole translator of this game (with kumada as the proofreader), and I have permission to translate this game from Tempura himself. Credits to Tempura and his team for creating such an awesome game :)

Blog 42: Revised Title Screen

Hi everyone!

Well, this blog serves to talk about a minor revision to the title screen. I've been meaning to revise the text in the title screen 'cause, you know, the Engrish options that are New-Birth of Blue, Revive of Blue and Away from Blue. And so today, I've done just that and you can see the revised title screen:

I wanted to keep the "Blue" part, so only the 1st two options have been revised. Let me know what you all think if you will, but I think I'm pretty satisfied with this version and if nothing else, I will put this as the new title screen for this game.

Thank you!

Honestly, though, eplipswitch does all the heavy lifting. Most of what I do is polish. :)

Have to say I'm really impressed with the new translation so far (just got to Episode 11). Everything sounds so much more natural now. Well done to both of you!

Thank you! kumada and I will continue to churn out smooth-flowing cutscenes as the game goes along. :)
Is there a specific reason why I cannot see any of the text in-game? I looked for fonts to install thinking that maybe that was the problem but to no avail.. This game looks like it has a great story and I would hate to miss out on it.

Is your computer set in English? If it is, try downloading and installing the fonts below. These are the fonts that you need:

Yep it says those fonts are already installed.. I have no idea what is going on. I just keep seeing completely blank text boxes. I even deleted the old fonts and reinstalled them with yours and nothing happened.
Hmm. Where are you putting the fonts? What's the file path?

If the text boxes are coming up blank, that usually means the game's not finding the font.
This topic should help you, lolina:

The most probable problem is that your file system may be corrupted. Follow the instructions in the last few posts, notably the one by Atavus Dei.

Also, uninstall FontFix if you have installed it. That is most probably the one that caused the problem in the first place.
Thank you so much for being so sexy awesome.. If I recall correctly I did just do a font patch on a different game just before playing this one.. Thanks again.
Played through the whole water city dungeon....Didnt save.....Boss used some spit move on first attack....Game couldnt find item....Game shut down, what a drag.

Oh, well...Missing file per se. I'll get back to fixing this error in about 10 hours time as it's almost bed time here...Will edit this once I've fixed this...

EDIT: I couldn't find this specific error. Could you tell me exactly what name the move is? And I presume the boss is Ortrud, right? Because I don't think anyone else have encountered this error? Did you download the latest version and not the old version?
Huh, just stumbled across this video (warning, spoilers for untranslated content!):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Nee8jwt038

The interface in that video looks completely different to the one in this version, why is that? Is it a fanmade patch or something?
Sorry eplip. didnt see your message. Its been a while but the boss in the city on top of water. Ill make the effort to play back through to get you the info. Ill also re-download first.

Oh that one is fanmade version. The full name is called "Seraphic Blue Director's Cut Altered". That game has extra bosses, though some of them don't quite fit into the game... I didn't go about translating that version because it is not made by Tempura himself (though he approved that, of course.) And of course, the gameplay mechanics in that version are much more advanced.

@bigtime: Okay much appreciated!
Holy crap, those game mechanics in Altered look tasty.
I've been playing this game and really enjoying it. But I've been having trouble with Ortrud, every time he uses the move Spark Mist the game crashes, saying it cannot open .zip file. I've tried re-downloading the game and looking through the files for any .zip files but couldn't find any.
I've been looking around and no one else seems to have encountered this problem. Is this a problem that's been run into before or is it something else?
I'm sorry to trouble you about this, but I do really enjoy this game and would like to play it further.
Sounds like something got renamed and no longer looks like what the game wants it to look like. Eplipswich, any ideas?

Kimea, bigtime and everyone else, I have figured out the problem to the above...It appears all this time that I have a file missing in my game for some reason when it wasn't supposed to be missing before. Download the file below and place it inside the Battle folder of the game.

http://rpgmaker.net/users/eplipswich/locker/Zip.png

Thanks for highlighting the missing file. Here's hoping no such thing happens again when the full version is released (which is unlikely to happen...)

I will update the download accordingly.

EDIT: I have just found 3 more missing files inside the Battle folder...

Had it not for you Kimea, I wouldn't have known there are a few more Battle files missing. Thanks again and sorry for the trouble!
Finally finished the latest version! I really enjoyed it; the story is going completely insane but in a way that's superbly entertaining, and the battle system finally starts to be realising its potential as well. Kind of crazy how long some of those strings of cutscenes are though, felt like I was playing a visual novel for a while. Can't believe there was all that new content and there were only two actual dungeons in all of that.

That final battle was a great note to end on, I had so much fun with that. Working out a system to make sure that she'd be left with no magic circles every time she got a turn was great to work on, and so satisfying when I got it working.

Can't wait for the next version! You planning on releasing another demo or will the next release be the final one? Either way, I'm super hyped!

Thanks for playing! The game only gets better from there. I hope to finish translating the game by the end of the year, but no guarantees. Motivation is what I need now in addition to juggling with real life stuff, but I'll do my best!
You can do it!

This wackiness needs to be brought to the English-speaking world. :D
