Seraphic Blue (セラフィックブルー) is a 50+ hour epic RPG made by Tempura in RPG Maker 2000 v1.51, and is highly-received in the Japanese RPG Maker community, most notably for its story. It has 2 versions: the original (made in 2004) and Director's Cut (made in 2006). The version translated here is Director's Cut.

Seraphic Blue is well-known for its
- Deep and intriguing atypical dark storyline with a deep underlying message
- Highly creative custom battle and menu systems
- Flexible equipping with the Sphere System
- Precise cutscene transitions and dialogue pauses, making the cutscenes feel more alive.
- Custom artworks to accompany some cutscenes
- Awesome music and well-used sound effects
and many more.

NOTE1: This is NOT created by me. It is created by a man named Tempura (known as Sakaki in the game credits). I am the sole translator of this game (with kumada as the proofreader), and I have permission to translate this game from Tempura himself. Credits to Tempura and his team for creating such an awesome game :)

Blog 42: Revised Title Screen

Hi everyone!

Well, this blog serves to talk about a minor revision to the title screen. I've been meaning to revise the text in the title screen 'cause, you know, the Engrish options that are New-Birth of Blue, Revive of Blue and Away from Blue. And so today, I've done just that and you can see the revised title screen:

I wanted to keep the "Blue" part, so only the 1st two options have been revised. Let me know what you all think if you will, but I think I'm pretty satisfied with this version and if nothing else, I will put this as the new title screen for this game.

Thank you so much! You don't know how much I appreciate this. I don't have to start everything from the very beginning now! You're fuckin dope man!
When I extract it with 7-Zip, I get a lot of errors regarding oddly-named image files. WinRAR works fine, though, so keep this in mind.

Thanks for highlighting! I didn't know 7-Zip won't be able to unzip the files properly (those files are Japanese-named files that aren't used in the game). But I'll remove those files and reupload again!
I heard that there was a Seraphic Blue Alter with the same story, different systems and a Disastia battle added. Any plans to translate it, since the story translation will mostly be the same?
I imagine he'd have a bit of a hard time having to copy and paste the dialog from the original translation to the new one, plus having to translate the new added stuff in the game.

But on the off chance he does do that, it'd be pretty hardcore, cause Alter looks fun, especially that boss mode. ^_^
Yeah, well, it'll be quite tedious tbh. The new functions of the Altered version change the alignment of the story scripts, so I'll mostly have to copy and paste line by line. There's also a lot of text explaining the new mechanics. And new NPC dialogues too! ~ ~

Plus, I'm busy with another translation project right now (it's a visual novel btw ;)), so I don't know when or even if I'll ever get back into it. We'll see.
It's 2017 and people still talk about this hidden gem? Glad to see that, eplipswich, I must thank you for giving us a chance to play this game. It became my favorite RPG game of all the time and it's honestly sad, it doesn't get much attention in the West (I heard it's pretty popular in Japan).

Again, I really appreciate your work and I'm eager to wait for a possible translation of Seraphic Blue Alter (of course, you don't have to force yourself if you don't feel like it).
This game... Man this game. I think I should mostly stick with the positives. The writing started off... pretty pretentious, frankly. But things started picking up somewhere around 1st chapter and 2nd+3rd chapters had some rlly good writing. I esp. liked
Heidi going full savage mode on Georg lmao, my favorite scene in the whole game. And I am not even that fond of her. Still prefer her over her husband n son, who are pretty boring n too chaotic lol. This woman has her moments n is logical for the most part despite emotions being the main plot point with their whole family issue.

I also liked the art, its very clean n elegant n hence was to my taste.
The final chapter... man. This chapter had some serious issues with how much stuff was repeated again n again n idek why Tempura though it was necessary to go on and on about the same thing over n over again. The cutscenes can be very long to begin with. Also, the ending was a bit underwhelming. I can see where it was going with the relatively realistic themes, but something felt missing. Game definitely suffered in its final stretches plot-wise, n couldn't live up to its full potential.
Nevertheless, I liked this game. The battle system, while, too hard at first, eventually becomes fun once other characters join n was a solid part of the game for sure.
I didn't like most puzzles though, lol. There was so much text so I just followed the walkthrough or the hints. The one with portals looking like keyboard keys was innovative tho. I just don't like how the instructions for most puzzles were too vague n unclear.
Characters, I liked quite a few. Nixon and Minerva are my favorites. Minerva is so awesome especially, once she gets her OP spells, its plain awesomeness n even before that she's plenty great, definitely top-tier with end-game Vene (except I would rather her a rank above as she stays that way throughout. Vene is still a solid high-tier though) Yangtze, Foxey, Hausen, Doris, Lansard, Vene, Ewan, Lake were all likable too. I also like how everyone had their uses. Yangtze felt mid tier to mid-high-tier-ish at first but then her co-skill with Doris came n she became high-tier too lmao, she n Doris make quite a team. Lansard I would say is mid-high. Nixon high-tier. Foxey, mid-high to high.
Virginie, definitely high-tier. She's such a pleasant addition battle-wise. Not bad plot-wise too though. I just wish I didn't have to fight her so many times before her joining us lmao.
Lake was solid mid-high tier. Ewan mid-high to high. Boring Kane mid-tier. Hausen high-tier because of his synergy with Minerva, dude makes her even more awesome n he himself is pretty great.
Overall, some issues aside, a solid game. I enjoyed it for the most part. Thanks for your n your team's translating efforts -thumbs up-
Hi, guys. I've recently opened a fan-wiki for this great game that has become my favorite JRPG of all times. It's mostly empty for now since I don't have much time but a content and info is keep being added piece by piece, so...Make yourself at home!

ps: I'm also insta-sorry for my pure engrish and googrish, it's better to turn off your grammar security before entering.
I'm not sure if anyone is reading this board anymore, but I tried to boot the game, but it complains that I haven't installed RTP, despite following the instructions here and doing just that. I have windows 10, so I wonder if that creates problems? Would love to play some old-school RPG Maker stuff, so that's why I'm still asking about this, instead of moving on! : O

Nice timing. Try running the game in Windows 7 or below compatibility mode?
Maybe Don Miguel's RTP must be installed in order to play the game?

It's a good idea in general to follow the instructions in this post to make RPG Maker 2000 and 2003 games playable.
Don Miguel's RTP did the trick! Makes sense considering it's such an old game from that specific era. Thank you so much! Excited in getting into the game!

Good to hear! Front page link to RTP has also been updated to Don Miguel's RTP.
The link on the front page to Don Miguel's RTP doesn't seem to work this way (even though it's the same that I used). Perhaps it would be better to use the "link" function like in my previous post (left of the big "A", looks like an "8" rotated through 90°). When using the link on the front page, the "&" right of the first "0" seems to be missing - which, coincidentally, is the line break's starting point. Line breaks and links don't go together.
hey, I just had a minor question related to RPGmaker translations - I've noticed that you translated all 729 map names in the map tree, did you rename each map one by one, or have you found a way to quickly edit the whole map tree in one go?
I’m really digging what Seraphic Blue brings. I’d be right at home on my Playstation. I know I’m late to the party, but consider me a fan.

Greetings, after a long disappearance from the community, I am back

This is a quandary I and others have had, and I will put it to rest since I found an answer:

Q: Why am I having trouble playing Seraphic Blue or any RM2k games on Win 10 and above and why are people mentioning RM2K games on an actual console, how can people do that?
A: EasyRPG (https://easyrpg.org/) is what people use to play it on consoles and can circumvent the compatibility issues for PC users, it is like the Retroarch of RM games. All you need do is just slap it into the folder and run the program, it will play the game using the files of the folder as it emulates the launcher. Easy RPG also has other functions that regular RM2K does not such as screencaps and fast forward.

Correction, apparently in many cutscenes a sprite of Lake facing forward appears in various parts of the screen, I thought it was EasyRPG, but after Downloading DonMiguel's RM2k RTP it is happening even outside of it.
I try to extract the zip but I am getting header errors. The download may be corrupted?
