"Where were you when the universe ended?"

I Miss the Sunrise is an all-new prequel to 2009's The Reconstruction. Featuring strategic battles, player-created weapons, and unique gameplay around every turn, I Miss the Sunrise is an RPG experience like no other. The full game is available as of July 22nd, 2012.

Version 1.51 released August 12th, 2012.

FEATURES
-No typical HP & MP drudgery. Instead, all battlers have Hull, Systems, and Pilot ratings that serve as both health and fuel for weapons. Reducing any of them to 0 means defeat, so spacefarers beware!
-Create your own pilot. Give 'em a name, then choose your gender, race, and customized personality, all of which determine how you interact with other denizens of the universe.
-Get to know your allies better through dialog interaction and performance in battle. But be careful: some allies may be less receptive to your chosen personality.
-Assemble your own weapons. Use salvaged components to customize and outfit your own weapons, name them whatever you want, and use their blueprint codes to share your creations with other players!
-Fast-paced, strategic turn-based battles reward careful positioning and targeting over brute force. Exploit your enemies' vulnerabilities while covering your own!
-Random exploration maps let you take part in battles and exploration any time you please.
-Customizeable AI lets you determine just how ruthless the enemy can be.

Out with the Old

Happy Nauruan Independence Day, everybody!

For anyone still watching, I've expunged my old site in order to concentrate on my new one (Sungazer Software) full time. Plus, I had a lot of insane rambling from 2009 or so that I didn't want hanging around, so it had to go.

If there were any posts you absolutely cannot live without, or if you object loudly enough, then I could be goaded into having a "greatest hits" archive left intact somewhere. Swayed, even. Until then, though, consider any links to Tilde-One.com to be defunct. (Actually they'll just redirect to the new front page.)

Good night, and keep watching the skis! Uh, skies.

Are you sure you fixed the distress call bug? Maybe it still doesn't appear... Anyway, Iudeshka, if you don't have the distress signal (maybe you played past the point where it appears before Deltree fixed it, in which case I don't think it ever appears), this is all it says:

AUTOMATED DISTRESS BROADCAST
Origin:
Splice 2
Superspace 06
Subspace 49
Point 53

---CRAFT INCAPACITATED---PILOT STATUS: STABLE---

Hope that helps. Luke is arguably the worst character in the game stat-wise, but it's good to get every party member for the sake of completion, I suppose. :p

Edit: By the way, Deltree, I just remembered that there were no on-foot exploration areas in Episode 2. I was kind of disappointed since I really liked them, but I suppose there aren't a whole lot of places where they'd fit... Did you just forget about them, or are you not using them anymore?

It'd better be fixed; I started a fresh game run and it came up correctly. However, if she had a save file from before it was fixed and somehow played past the point where the fix triggers, then it's possible it's still missing. (Although I was sure I'd accounted for that too).

On-foot exploration will come back at least once next episode. I ran into major issues with lag and such (and almost broke the project file completely trying to implement an anti-lag script) in the first episode, so I held back a bit.

It's been a couple of days and I guess the review is still in the queue, but a preliminary thanks for your input!

Really great game ! I'd love to play it, but stuck between the (explored) ruins and the position just below it, going back and forth with "move", no clue how to get away ?(thx)

Whoops, surprised no one found that one yet. What map was it on (number or name)?

(Moment of clarity edit) Was this on the very first map? Stop me if I am embarrassing you, but you can use the arrow keys to redirect what node you go to next. I guess that should be made more clear from the get-go.
Not sure if you've been made aware (I expect you have) but there's an amazing review of this game over at Meridian Dance at the moment. Have you read it?

Thanks for the heads-up! I have not heard about it! I shall go read it now.

(Post-read euphoria) Okay that was really, really good. I'm enamored that you thought so highly of it, Mellytan. (Although you didn't recruit Chac? You monster!)

Thanks, yes, I figured I was missing something obvious!

aaaaaaaaaaaaaa i didn't really know you could, is it too late, aaa pls forgive me ;w; next playthrough, next playthrough...

Well, I finally got my review in the queue here, and I see someone else here also submitted one a little while ago. I guess the staff is busy with RMN4 now but it looks like IMTS will have 2 more glowing reviews when they get approved :)

It's never too late! He is really really strong though.

Oh! Also, I did address the issue of missing a lot a while back (especially after watching Craze's LP of Episode 0) so in the current version there is a base accuracy boost on all weapons. It was a little ridiculous, I will admit, but on the other hand - the numbers given are the exact calculation being used with all the hidden factor already applied, so maybe the RNG god especially hates you.

Looking forward to reading it again!

Ahhh cool, yeah I figured there were more hidden factors I wasn't taking care of, and it's possible that I was just exceptionally unlucky lol. I guess for a lot of people it's just very frustrating to miss; I changed up my battle system after testers told me how frustrating missing was, although at the time I meant for there to be a trade-off between accuracy and power. Now I just have those attacks sometimes do low damage instead of missing.

That's a pretty good idea; maybe have glancing blows if the die roll is close instead of an outright miss every time. Or maybe an accuracy boost if you're going to score a critical hit anyway. The idea is to have a trade-off for attacking needlessly (such as trying to hit an enemy with high RT with a C-type weapon) since it costs health to attack every time. I have new things to consider now!
I've been enjoying the game quite a lot so far, but Chac's sidequest has left me feeling like I'm missing something incredibly obvious. I'm supposed to prove I'm the lone survivor of a situation, but I've talked to everyone and examined everything that could possibly be related to that and have come up completely empty. So unless the game code messed up somehow, hint please? :P

Sure.

Win a battle with just your player character. Probably easiest to do so in Splice Zero. (Edit) Oh almost forgot, if you do it in a higher Splice you'll get a merit too, so maybe do it in Splice 1.
What a game! It's so good that I have to literally force myself to stop playing it. I was up til 7am playing it last night!

@Deltree I have a question regarding blueprint codes.

I've acquired several code "keys" such as 0A01, 0D03, etc. In the cargo menu, they give me what seems to be random letters as if I'm supposed to fill in the blanks. However, they are much to complicated to fill in from what we are given.

So my question is, are there any clues you (or the game) can provide to solve these codes and cash in on the goodies?

I also found a bug.
If you talk to Freddie and get a random map, once you go to the navigation screen you can go to the Menu and quit to the title screen. If you do that, the random map will be in the background of the title screen and any other screen you go to when you load your game. It goes away when you quit the program though.

There are four pieces to each code (i.e. 0A01, 0A02); most of them make (somewhat goofy and well-known) phrases so if you write down what you have you might be able to piece the rest together.

Also, yeah, that bug snuck up on me; right now my plan is to take out the "return to title" option and just force you to use the F12 key since that will work for resetting.
I've been playing this for a good few hours with a friend and I've gotta say it lives up to a lot of the hype (referring to the recent glowing reviews). Even hooked the PC up to the TV and played with a dualshock pad - Had a lot of fun. We're about halfway through Episode 1 now. Anyway, congratulations on making such a polished, professional and engaging game :>

Edit: Oh yeah, I found a small error, I'm not sure if it always happens or it's just in Episode 1, but choosing the "cancel" option in the "Move" menus in battle with the confirm key seems to just re-open the same menu you were in rather than cancel the "choose a movement" thing. The only way to actually cancel is with the cancel key/button, which is no biggy but I thought it'd be worth reporting where an option seems broken.

PS: Having the opportunity to name my weapons things like "Pilot Light" (Thermal, Contact, Pilot) and "Plague Hammer" (Chemical, Contact, Hull) has totally made my night.

Thanks for the feedback and bug report! I can't imagine where that broke, but I can't say I'm not surprised either.
@Deltree Thanks for the feedback last time. Now, for another bug I found;

I found code keys 0A01, 0A02, and 0A03. I know there is a 4th one out there, but that's beside the point. I used your method for the first three, to see if I could just fill in the blanks for the last key. I went to the Machinatorium and put in SPFONEMILLION for a blueprint code and instead of Mahk telling me it was the wrong code, the game just crashed. However, when I put in for example "SPFONEMILLIONLOTION", the game did not crash and Mahk told me it was the wrong code as he should have.

Any suggestions?
