Stories of Innocence is a great game that seems to have it all. Though there are a few bugs and issues that require addressing, over all it's a solid performance all-round.

PLOT/STORY
At the start of Stories of Innocence you choose one of two female leads to play. However, as I played the demo only one lead was open to me - that of Lyanna, a young woman sold into slavery who attempts a failed escape. She meets Joseon, a one-eyed mystery man who buys her freedom and then takes the lead role for a while. I really enjoyed what I played. I was very quickly drawn into the plot and the characters were easy to empathise with, especially Lyanna and Ridah. The interaction between characters and the people around them was also really well done. The addition of extra cutscenes was a great idea and I loved that you made it an optional feature, too.
The writing itself is pretty strong and you convey the personality of each character very well. There were a few spelling errors littered about, but the strength of the writing just led me to ignore them. I can't even remember what they were!
The plot itself has a lot of room for growth and I am expecting great things from you - I really look forward to seeing what you do with the world you've created.

GRAPHICS
The mapping was wonderful and captured the feel of the areas that were portrayed very well - from the wilderness of the desert to the dangerous gambling town of Nasrat. The ship, especially, was one of the best I've seen, and I love that you included underwater windows and kept the shape of the ship in mind when mapping the insides. All of the desert towns were wonderfully alive and full of culture, the wilds were layered really nicely and were fun to explore - even if I was chased by desert animals. The cutscenes were well-crafted, the lighting and fog effects didn't go overboard and the small touches you added really added realism to the environs. Each town is different and has it's own personality, which is great!
Your edits were very well done and added a lot to the personality of the characters. The character design is also very nicely done, especially Lyanna's slave dress (with no pockets to carry things in). The battle characters were really nicely done and looked great - animations were smooth.

GAMEPLAY
General
The general gameplay is standard RM fare - you control a character that walks on a map, press enter/z/space to interact and whatnot. I would have liked to have seen a few more puzzles that don't rely on battles thrown in, but there was a lot of interesting bits and pieces to make up for it - from on-map critters that approach you to battle, trying to sneak past palace guards, finding someone to help you with your snake problems, to upgrading your characters the way you want.
The last is definitely a fun system to use - every level you gain points that you use to upgrade your stats. You can upgrade your HP, MP, ATK, VIT and INT only by using these points - they are not raised through levelling up at all. That said, though the system is pretty balanced, you could expend all your SP (Skill Points) into the ATK, but your defences (or VIT) would suffer. The costs for said upgrades are pretty fair and it does affect your abilities in battle quite a bit.
Speaking of battles - only human opponents leave gold after defeat. Monsters will leave various parts that can be sold for money and I think the drop rate is pretty high. The cost for the inn is pretty reasonable, and medicine is pretty well priced. There are a few treasures lying around and sometimes you'll have to think about how to get them, which is nice. That said, I would have liked a few more scattered about the towns, but the amount was certainly enough.
Battle
Battles were challenging to begin with but once a certain party member learned 'Stealth Strike' monsters, bosses included, became a bit of a joke. I think that's been remedied now, but at the time the skill poisoned and paralysed an enemy 100% of the time. That took away the challenge, except in the case of the last boss battle of the demo, which was immune to both and proved to be a hard kill.
For the most part the battles are pretty balanced, if leaning towards the hard side a bit. You only have two characters in your party going up against two-three monsters. The speed was fine though battles lasted a little long, but seeing as most of them can be avoided, there's not much of a problem there. I'd recommend lowering the HP of some monsters a tiny bit but it's not much of a problem really.

MUSIC/SOUND
One of the main things I noticed right away was that there was an abundance of sound. From walking in sand to snakes hissing, the musical and sound aspects of Story of Innocence is very well done. There were one or two sounds I remembering wondering about fitting but they can't have been too important if I've forgotten where and when they were. ^.^
The music fit the atmosphere well, though I think there was a point or two where there was none (though that may have been my speakers ^.^;). I couldn't immediately place all the songs - hell some of them I had no idea of where they came from, but each of them suited well, so no issues there.

SUMMARY
All up I really enjoyed Story of Innocence and felt disappointed when I realised the demo had ended. Especially as it was at a point where I really wanted to explore. ^.^ It's got a lot of potential to be a great game and except for a few small bugs it's well worth trying out.

I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a well-told story, engaging characters and exploring worlds.

Thanks for the favorable review, and I'm glad you enjoyed what little there was. I know the demo was a little rough around the edges, but I haven't touched it in a long time. That is,until I received your initial feedback. Since then, I tried to change some of the things you mentioned. I believe I spotted all the spelling errors (a brain fart on my part), but I may have missed a few. As for the battle mechanics, I probably won't change them until I get a more general census. That said, I did reduce the stats for the monsters, and the game-breaking power of "Stealth Strike" for the demo I've uploaded (which is still pending). Anyway, thanks again for the review, and rest assured that place you didn't get a chance to explore will have puzzles in it.
This is a really really great review, Liberty. You should do more of those.

This game sounds really interesting too. I'll wait for a full version.
Not a big fan of this gameprofile design though. It's kinda disturbing for some reason.
