Scattering objects like that is better than empty space in maps, but it would look even better if there were clumps of objects and some group formations. It looks incredibly cluttered and there is no sense of direction. If I was walking through a forest that looked like that all the way through, I wouldn't be able to tell if I already walked by a certain part.

Uh, doesn't a forest mostly look the same throughout? I think, for the better of the player, direction should definitely be shown more noticeably.

This is too confusing. Natural landscapes do not form in perfectly diffused patterns like this. Nor does it serve the player to lack a path of some sort.
I honestly like the look of the map. Not all forests are the same, so I suppose this is counted as a forest.
However, I suppose people would be expecting more trees being connected to look more natural.
I don't see why it would need a pathway though as since when do you see a path laid out for someone in an actual forest? O_O
The little one-herbs look overdone though, as they seem like they're taking up most of the map...

Every real game ever with forest levels has paths.
This is an ugly map that is impossible to navigate. Change it.
It's pretty straight forward though because there is no more room above or below what you see. so generally you gather the idea to keep moving horizontally.
