In a different universe, or perhaps in a very far corner of our own, or maybe simply an existential layer of it that our human minds cannot quite comprehend, or also it might be an acid dream, there are beings called Overlords. The only real definition of an Overlord is a being who, in some way, willfully defies the laws of the physical world. The Overlords have generally attained this status and title through accumulation of massive power, though other methods exist and have been used; and of course their numbers are few. Still, it is difficult for super-beings to exist in the same realm without inciting a dramatic conflict, making epic prophecies and generally being eccentric assholes, and so begins our story... the story of twelve people manipulated by two different Overlords attempting to accomplish two very different goals.
There are six playable characters out of the twelve important heroes; the game takes place over several chapters. The first and longest chapter of the game involves playing through each character's personal scenario individually. These unlikely "heroes" are from different worlds, even different dimensions, but they are ultimately pulled into the same world and forced into an alliance...
The ideal interest factor for this first string of separate scenarios is that they do overlap to an extent. Remember in FF6 how Sabin was shadowing you up the mountain? Imagine if, after that part of the game, you ended up playing AS Sabin and got more insight into what he was doing as he followed you! Even turned it into a bit of a mini-game where you must remain unseen! That's exactly what you'll get here - two or even three sides of the same story told from unique viewpoints. I also aim to make sure that every single playable character is as different from the next as they can be.
(... And now that I re-read this, were YOU the one chasing Sabin? I don't remember. THE POINT STANDS)

* Every character has completely different abilities, mechanics and quirks. * Characters level up using EXP gained from battles, as well as spending AP earned from battles and questing to buy special abilities in the Velvet Room. * Many cameos and references to other series exist. Like the Velvet Room. * The theme is quite humorous, but this is not intended to be a "joke game!" * Everybody loves to build-your-own-base, similar to BoF2's Township! * Standard party size is 3 Heroes, with an extra space for Guest NPCs or Mordoba's puppets. *

Platform change, Project refocus

This project is being converted to RMVX. That is, not currently - no work is being done on the game - but it will be released as a VX game when it does come out. Essentially, 2k3 is dead to me. Not only is it far too confining for the types of interesting mechanics I desire to use in my games, but there's not enough work done on the 2k3 version of CoG to be afraid to start over. I previously stated that RPG Maker 20XX would solve a lot of these issues for me, but that's just not the case. I have gotten more work done on my current VX project than I could have ever completed in 2k3. Even graphically - and working with higher-quality and higher-res graphics is really pushing me to improve my graphical editing abilities. I've run into no problems with tilesets or any other complaints that scared me away from VX originally. They seem kind of silly now (Boxy? I edited in diagonal tiles, and I'm using parallax mapping. Limited tiles? I copy+pasted a tileset script in 2 seconds). I can't imagine going back to coding battle events to make skills that are even remotely unusual, and having to 'settle' for compromising features that just aren't possible. While Wolfcoder is doing an excellent job making an amazing tool, in my time recently spent learning VX, my rate of learning has accelerated so rapidly that I've come to see waiting for RM20XX as merely waiting to halfway bridge the gap between 2k3 and VX. I'm sure that sounds disparaging, but make no mistake, I have nothing against Wolfcoder, the project, or anyone else who chooses to use 2k3. What WC is doing is a service to everyone using the old engine. I'm not going to stand on a soapbox and shove down your throat what you should and shouldn't use; I'm merely illustrating the reasons I'm not using it myself.
As for my new project, the gamepage will go up soon. It's a very intensive labor of love, for which I am currently way more on fire with inspiration than CoG. Post lots, give lots of feedback!

I hope 20XX gets done soon so we can have some UPDATEZ.

I will be quietly, but eagerly anticipating this. Subscribed!

Actually I imagined Mordoba walking into a bar full of gangsters wearing a trench coat and opening it as if she was going to flash the patrons only for her to expose the puppets instead and attack .
This game's got style. Does remind me of Phantom Legacy and one other project on here I can't remember, though.

ac*************** (3:1615 PM):: Haha. Mordy walks into battle wearing a really puffy, heavy looking coat
ac*************** (3:16:31 PM): and is all suddenly *COAT OPEN* *PUPPETS ALL OVER THE PLACE HANGING IN HOLSTERS*
ac*************** (3:16:38 PM): *suddenly matrix re-enactment, with puppets instead of guns.*

No apology necessary, I appreciate any input, especially from a point of view I hadn't thought of previously! ;)

If you want a straight answer I'm the wrong person to ask, though I do have a special perspective . . . :P

The second, as Im sure a few men might assume you're going au natural. But you're right, it's not an issue. I guess i got too caught up in the "guile" in beguile and thought she should be meretricious.
My apologies.

(edit: meretricious is SUCH A GOOD WORD)

The second, probably, as a few horndogs might assume the lady in question was going au natural. Though frankly I'm not the expert on that kind of thing. . .

So I guess wearing stockings = men think you're skanky? Even if they're something a court jester would wear, or as someone else said, Alt Alice in Wonderland? :p

Edit: Or you're saying the opposite. bare legs are more enticing. But this seems like such a nonissue.

They're not so much 'fishnets' as opaque checkerboard tights :) Besides... why does fishnet automatically equal skank? You can still be tarted up to the nines and be a fake-skank!

I never said she was a skank. I said it would be easier to beguile men if they thought she was, and if she wants to go for that impression, she shouldn't bother wearing any tights at all.

You might as well keep the title- it's good, and even if a few people read it pruriently it does no harm.

*Edit* In fact, it might draw MORE people that way.

Nonsense! Mordoba's a sexy, enslaved witch with the power to beguile people- I'd think seduction would be par for the course, even if only as a tactic, so I'd lose the fishnets. No one says she she has to really be a skank, but pretending to be one might be a useful tactic, for, say, locking a guard broom closet. "Wait for me over there . . . ;) " SLAM!

This looks interesting Versalia. It's probably not your style to post lots of details of your project (or you're doing scenario writing on the go). However, I would be interested in learning more about the overall story, even if it's just a synopsis.

Okay! I will update the game's frontpage later today :)

I don't see how the title is sexual at all. o.o
