Platform change, Project refocus

This project is being converted to RMVX. That is, not currently - no work is being done on the game - but it will be released as a VX game when it does come out. Essentially, 2k3 is dead to me. Not only is it far too confining for the types of interesting mechanics I desire to use in my games, but there's not enough work done on the 2k3 version of CoG to be afraid to start over. I previously stated that RPG Maker 20XX would solve a lot of these issues for me, but that's just not the case. I have gotten more work done on my current VX project than I could have ever completed in 2k3. Even graphically - and working with higher-quality and higher-res graphics is really pushing me to improve my graphical editing abilities. I've run into no problems with tilesets or any other complaints that scared me away from VX originally. They seem kind of silly now (Boxy? I edited in diagonal tiles, and I'm using parallax mapping. Limited tiles? I copy+pasted a tileset script in 2 seconds). I can't imagine going back to coding battle events to make skills that are even remotely unusual, and having to 'settle' for compromising features that just aren't possible. While Wolfcoder is doing an excellent job making an amazing tool, in my time recently spent learning VX, my rate of learning has accelerated so rapidly that I've come to see waiting for RM20XX as merely waiting to halfway bridge the gap between 2k3 and VX. I'm sure that sounds disparaging, but make no mistake, I have nothing against Wolfcoder, the project, or anyone else who chooses to use 2k3. What WC is doing is a service to everyone using the old engine. I'm not going to stand on a soapbox and shove down your throat what you should and shouldn't use; I'm merely illustrating the reasons I'm not using it myself.
As for my new project, the gamepage will go up soon. It's a very intensive labor of love, for which I am currently way more on fire with inspiration than CoG. Post lots, give lots of feedback!

Semi-Hiatus

WHY HELLO subscribers and other people happening to read this blog~! Unfortunately, I'm going to put CoG on "semi-hiatus" for the time being. I'm mostly doing this because I'm unwilling to move too far ahead without the aid of RPG Maker 20XX and other tools in development, given the intentions I have for the game. I WILL still be working on graphical resources and mapping etc. I just will not be promising a demo any time before my POWERTOOLS are ready to go~

I'm also going to take this time to check out VX and familiarize myself with it, as my next project is planned to be released on VX. I've got one "staff member" assisting me with pre-production of this second project - though to be fair, he is just as invested as I am, and I consider him a co-developer. I don't expect to release the VX project for at least a year (this is a VERY modest projection) but I'll continue to post CoG updates in the meantime!
