This is a complete, fully playable, Mario-only game made with SMBX. It features:

- Simple, non-confusing hub area
- 25 unique (and awesome) stages with 3 stars each
- Epic non-linear gameplay
- Optional final boss if you manage to collect every star
- Ice Flower!
- A decent amount of graphical customization, considering this is my first game
- and other things!

Version 1.1 finally released!

Subcon Stars version 1.1

Version 1.1 has been completed. The most significant change is that there is now a checkpoint in almost every level. Many enemies have also been removed from some unfairly difficult areas.

I got all 75 stars. Every level is designed similarly, with 3 clearly separate paths for the 3 stars. Difficulty ramps alright. There isnt too much variety in the level design, mechanics wise, but each level does look different. Late game levels can be tough, especially when you do each level 3 times. Kinda disappointed that the perfect end isnt much different from the normal end.
Im from de SMBX community, I liked your episode/project, but has some bugs and some levels are very flat about NPC and GfX.

So, you give me permission to do a remake of the episode/project and post the original project in the community of SMBX?

Thank you for reading this.

So far I am really enjoying this. Three stars per level is a great way to stretch out the number of levels you have.

I really appreciate how each level has a theme.
I noticed a "bug" in the hub area: in the room on the way to Turtle Flats, there is a block missing in the top corner of the room. With appropriate timing and ducking, you can get through the hole, but all there is through the wall is death. You should plug that gap in the wall.

On the plus side, I was able to glide far enough to see the entry room to Turtle Flats before I bit it.

I really thought that hole in the wall was a secret, I got on top of the room and flew around thinking I could get somewhere, but no... darkness... and death... lol
Thanks for playing! I'm glad someone is finally giving me feedback. I'm aware of that missing block and will fix it in the version 1.1 update. I'm waiting for Desmo360 to finish his LP so I can see exactly what needs to be fixed. So far it seems like the difficulty in the mid-game levels needs to be toned way down.

Yay, 60 downloads. I hope people are enjoying the game to some degree. I want to get feedback before I continue working on my next game: Luigi in Dimension Castle. It's another star-collecting game. In the meantime I'm working on Super Princess Dreamland, which is a very SMB2 kind of game. The more feedback I get, the better these games will be.
Thanks for playing.

Luigi in Dimension Castle sounds so awesome it's not even funny.

Congrats! This will be my FIRST Let's Play!
Well then I'll have to watch it. Let me know when you upload.
The link is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oByBD3YISI

I see you've already found it, but I posted the link for anyone else who wanted to see this. The quality in the first two videos is bad, but it's in High Definition from the third video on!
Good maybe you can tell me how to get the key in the ghost house, cause I still can't figure it out.

The key was in the same room as the locked door. You go all the way to the right and climb the zig zag platforms. At the top there's coins leading to a ghost block, which isn't actually just a block. It's a question block with a key in it! :O

Thanks for playing everyone. Hope you enjoy the game.
Wow an entire game page paralyzed because of a small little description.

Anyway.

I'm playing this right now, I'll let you know what I think when I'm done.

I greatly dislike this description.

It always bugs me when a game's ~feature list~ sounds like it's described as a better-than-thou game - "features a custom battle system!" and whatnot. Nobody who is not a developer (i.e. actual players) does not give a fuck. It should be an expectation that the hub isn't confusing, not a feature!

It's called "selling your game" whether it's done well here or not. Sometimes people aren't even going to get past the description (as said, for lack of caring) before they forget about it.
Sub* Loving the looks on these here levels.
Kentona gets it. But I apologize if this tiny block of descriptive text offends anyone. I should also warn you that there is more text in-game to provide tips for inexperienced SMBX players. If you are easily enraged by the occasional small box of text, please avoid this game.
okay, maybe the tongue-in-cheek delivery was a little to subtle

- Simple, non-confusing hub area versus an intricate and detailed hub world, or versus an overworld map. This is relevant info!
- 25 unique (and awesome) stages with 3 stars each other than the tongue-in-cheek awesome, its good to know there are 25 different levels with 3 stars each! tells you about the level setups and the expected gameplay
- Epic non-linear gameplay
- Optional final boss if you manage to collect every star
- Ice Flower! ooo new powerup not available in SMW or SMB3! also, only developers who have used SMBX recently would know about this new powerup, so to regular players of the old NES/SNES this is pretty cool
- A decent amount of graphical customization considering this is my first game despite the awkward wording, tells me he made some custom graphics (which people seem to care about for some reason)*
- and other things! humour! lol!

EDIT:
*so I don't fault him for appealing to that and highlighting that (the use of custom graphics, I mean)

Go make an article about not making games presentations sound pretentious and retarded.
