CALLING ALL BETA TESTERS!

I'm in dire need of beta testers. I test played this game 2x in a row but I still feel like I might have missed something.

I know RPGM 2000 is super vintage at this point, so finding a tester will be an uphill battle. But I figured I'd try anyway.

Yeah though. I had gotten through Onyx and some parts did not seem possible. Like HOW AND WHY. The Zorania fight got me very argh. And some of the battles I had to run around grinding a bit just to get through the challenge of the game. I don't know why Zorania was probably the hardest fight in the game. I had made an "inn" in Rasperra to serve as a restore to help grind around the area, and that kind of made sense for that area of the game. I think I had gotten to Level 18 to get through the Zorainia fight.
Another thing I did do to the entire game was changing the screen transistions of the game which felt too much like RPG Maker 95, the 'box' effect felt way too old, and dated. Like yee gads. That was a change I did to the game. Oh yeah, and since I am an image editor, I had went and changed a LOT of the colors of the maps to make it feel a bit more like a ligit game. That was a big problem of what I was expecting from Onyx was the dark feel of the game but a lot of the color was too bright and too RTP-ish, I had turned the brightness and the saturation of certain maps to make the color fit more in according to the game's feel. That's a big thing in terms of game design and game theory. Trust me, it really actually helped the game and I made it succeed!! Most of the other bosses were hard, but I have no idea why the Zorainia fight stuck out so much. I had used the guide to successfully get through the game. Onyx is a game of RAGE.

I'm also trying to update Onyx 2 to get Onyx 2 to feel like ligit too. Onyx 2 is ligit but more things are needed. MOAR. I guess when I get through Onyx 2, I shall share that file. I've been trying to update battle animations, and using dyn-plugins to make other things happen for the game - for instance, the RPG Maker 2003 engine's AGI is so damn slow. I used the "CortiATBSpeed" to get that running smooth. And hot damn it works so well! That made the game get a lot quicker running. I also added a game clock, at least the "game clock" plugin - which just monitors the time of the game, and adds a very nice background behind the menu which I used a panorama from ONYX 1 to keep it ONYXY in feel. And, I also added the "BattleMPstatdisplay" plugin that shows the MP usage IN battle which never really was in the rpg maker 2003 engine, that made little to no sense why enterbrain or ascii took that out in terms of the rpg maker 2003 engine is seeing MP healing and loss numbers. Like WHAT. COMMON ENTERBRAIN, you're killing me smalls!! But I am still going through ONYX 2, and updating battle animations as I go. Even adding battle animations for Evan Selwyn's base skills. But I'll keep you updated on that as I go...

This game crashed on me. Itt said out of memory.

Yikes! I really don't know how to fix that. It seems to be an error that pops up randomly with RPGM2K/3 games. All I can suggest is that if the music randomly fades, turn the game off immediately--don't save.
Hey there Yeaster, so cool how you're still offering support for this game after all of these years.

I shouted this game out a few days ago alongside a few other titles, it's still one of the best games I've ever played. Dear god how I love the script, the music, and the atmosphere!

There's no Vita in the game. It was probably supposed to be a weapon, but I never created it. I guess I forgot to delete it from the guide. Shame on me.

thanks anyways, and check other weirdness on your guide
No really. You're gonna like the update. It's not done quite yet though. I mean this. I have skills in art and I managed to make some facesets with Photoshop that work pretty well with Onyx that kinda fit every character. Though as of now, Chad and Vernon have the same face. :/ It's kinda hard to find a 'durag' kinda guy in all the facesets out there and to recolor at least with actual recolor skills and not using the paint bucket to 'recolor'...GGGGHHHH god I HATE that >:(((((((((((((((((

I haven't gone into the game and added facesets for messages though. That's a lot of damn work! :O Animations are coming out a lot better, for instance, some animations I 'merged' a couple rpg maker animation sets into one, for instance the dark animation with the explosion animation for the 'Wraith' skill - kinda makes sense. :/ I found a lot of the default used animations really bad!! The majority of Rpg Maker's installed animations when you create a project are actually that bad...Onyx must be alive! FEEL THE SPIRIT!!! lol

Ah yeah, and I changed EXP to ACP which is ACHIEVEMENT POINTS, which kinda fits a little better with the grimacing atmosphere this game makes. A lot of the sound is now more GUTTURAL and DARK. EMOTION!!!!!!!!!!!!! FEEL THA DARKNESS AM SATANOS LOL I also did a title screen and game over screen update that is very sexy. you will like it.

Other things that didn't make sense is that, some of the characters don't really 'match up' to the battlers via the chibi sprites, so with some photoshop skills I did some recolors to make the sprites 'fit' if that makes sense. I found that as a continuity error. The more you play, the more you learn...
I see. Ok. Only one thing: Winter isn't White. She's a light skinned Black girl.
o_0 Oh really. 0_0 I did not know that. Her sprite would have been slightly darker then? I dunno. I'm rockin' out with animations though the animations of the game are improving a lot! Onyx needed an animation rehaul. I also kinda feel iffy about Baal's sprite, it isn't seeming to be matching up with the monster graphic sprite. Just things that don't make a lot of sense to me.

Update! I found a decent sprite for Baal. It doesn't match but it's more 16 bity. That 3d graphic from before was weird. I'm getting through finishing the update though. There's a lot of new animations for weapons and it feels like you are truly a strong man when you use weapons. RPG Maker has this lousy wimpy feel with default animations. :/ STRONG EXPLODING SLASH. This update is like ligit quite good. It's feeling more and more ligit. I'm feeling maybe update Genna's graphic too bc that's an FF4 sprite in Onyx, it's about 5 colors I think. There's like 306 animations in total so far and I even made the elemental magic animations feel a little more original and they really kick ass. I thought to myself as well maybe some things could be dual element magics like Black Thunder but when I tested it Decarabia was a bit too strong. Like 585 damage on Winter strong. Oops. Though in the update, I'll make a readme.txt of everything that I did to make the game sing! It's like writing an Opera. "AHSOALAMIGOOOOO!!!" I can go on for a while really...
Well I'm back. I have a majestic present awaiting. An updated ONYX!!

AH! The hard work paid off!! YES!!! Your game took a little while just to improve. MONTHS. And boy, you're going to like it. I have included a README CHANGES.txt file for a list of all the changes I did in my version. Don't worry, I still have the original downloaded. Prepare yourself for 192 new animations that don't suck!! HOORAY!! Including much more for the game. The README CHANGES has it all. Working on this game has lead to some headaches and anger because...it's that hard. But I think it was worth it. And it was done on a laptop, an ACER Chinese model laptop that is super fast! I dunno whether to upload the game to my account because initially you worked on the game, and I don't wanna take all the credit, because it is your game, maybe something can get resolved with this. What do you think?

Here's the link to the game via my Google Drive.
I guess we can resolve whether to upload again or keep this as a Drive link? I dunno. AND IT AIN'T ABOUT MONEY BUT ABOUT LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These are nice... I'm going to put out an updated version featuring these changes. It may take me a while because oh boy... the graphics don't match AT. ALL.

Last thing, Evan has dreadlocks yet his face set doesn't. =P
What graphics don't match? I am confused. The face sets? I tried with PS, though to make better 16 bit art I would have to actually draw each face, and that can be done, it would just take time. I know in ONYX 2 there was an attempt for portraits but....egh, they just didn't feel very good to me. :/ I went to art school so generally I do have an idea of what I'm doing. :/ And what the heck, I did this for fun. 0_0 I put in a lot of energy to the animations too so I'm like, ow man.

Oh yeah, and just so you know this was done in RPG Maker 2000 Value, so there won't be any font problems, though I did like the old fonts the "old" RPG Maker used that Don Miguel (I guess) made?
Yeah, Onyx 2's facesets weren't very good. That's why I dummied them out. :)

I appreciate what you've done. I wasn't expecting this. I made this when I was 16. I'm 34 now. I didn't expect to ever jump back into 2000, but here we are haha

And yes, I bought the new version of 2000 off steam. It was only like $2 =P
I mean, if you want me to I could try to make decent facesets for Onyx 2? They looked like they were done in paint. I'm 34 as well. Hmm!! Irony. I did the same thing and got RPG Maker from Steam too. Haha!!!

Haha That's fine; you don't have to do that. I'm going to leave Onyx 2 where it's at.
is me or the only enemies thar are abstent in your guide are the world map ones?
