You are CHAD DANIELS a teenage boy living with his aunt in the projects of Trace Town. Coming down on hard times, his aunt enrolls him in a military program in Lezeer to help her cover the bills. Intimidated by its reputation as "death capital," Chad attempts to skip town for the night to dodge recruiters. In his closet, he comes across a child who panics and disappears in a show of light.

Discovering that his aunt has also disappeared and undead walking the streets, Chad realizes that despite looking the same, this world isn't the one he knows. Rescued by an angel who calls him the "Diamond," he becomes Allumia's only hope against the Onyx, a gem of reality-altering power pursued by a deranged ex-knight who'll stop at nothing to seize it. She can have it. All Chad wants is to return home. But with a slew of demons wanting him dead as much as they want the Onyx, this is one responsibility he can't run away from.

CALLING ALL BETA TESTERS!

I'm in dire need of beta testers. I test played this game 2x in a row but I still feel like I might have missed something.

I know RPGM 2000 is super vintage at this point, so finding a tester will be an uphill battle. But I figured I'd try anyway.

You mean, edit a guide for a game that's 15+ years old? That probably won't happen. I am including a guide for the updated re-release coming soon, but it still probably won't include monster data unless necessary.

In the OG, I'm not sure tbh. But in the upcoming re-release, there will be plenty of opportunities to level up. At some points in the game, there will be encounters in towns and the palace.

In both versions, the section where the player controls Tari after some events in The Nation, enemies will drop A LOT of EXP, I designed it that way so those characters could catch up to the levels Chad, Winter and Evan were.

phew
Opportunities to level? Cool. I feel like there was just tweaking that needed to happen, and some areas where leveling was like really needed, like the Zorania fight, the Decarabia fight (holy crow), my animation overhaul really got the game singing! If you still need that Chad Daniels faceset redone I can do that, just will take a little bit of time, I possibly could do a better Evan faceset. I wouldn't want to give you anything rushed really!

For the Zoraina fight, you could always go outside and grind on the field. But now you can rest inside Raspera for free full feeling and buy new items from a vending machine.

As Chad and Evan, sure I'd love to see what else you can do. The last version of Chad you sent me looked too "soft." His huge doe eyes made look like such a bitch lol. The first Chad you sent me was perfect, I just wish he had a ponytail. :p

A new Evan would be great, especially if you can give him dreadlocks. That would be sublime. :)

aAAAH I remember grinding a lot on the fields against the ice/snow-themed
enemies. That place is a bit far from every city so it's ok. I also hated Zoraina! Lol

Oh well I'm sure I will have to re-send and updated review for this (and Vanity too) when it is released

That would be amazing. Thanks! An updated demo of Vanity 2.0 has already been uploaded, jsyk. =P

The boss battles in Onyx v2.0 are much more tolerable. Many of them are susceptible to a particular status abnormality. So you can exploit the hell out of their weaknesses.

I know, I am constantly dying at the boss in the mansion, he has a pooooowerful attack. But I will win as soon as I find a cool strategy, I'm getting better. Btw I liked the changed.

And yes, like for Three the Hard Way I've to remade some old reviews that were pretty bad lol.

Cool. I do not need to say that probably, but I'm waiting for it. I must say that Onyx is my favourite (together with Onyx 2 ofc) for setting, story and characters.
one thing. how i can defeat the skipper and jogger enemies?
These monsters always runs first

In the OG it's impossible.

In the re-release, if you have a character who's faster than them you can one-shot them.

Thanks!! That means a lot.

About Vanity, you have to defend before the boss uses his powerful move. He'll defend himself just before using it. :)
is true that you gain some bonuses from transfer saving from onyx 1 to onyx 2,?
also, there is some plus for using your old onyx 1 save slot into the new onyx 1?

No bonuses. Onyx 1 was made in 2000, Onyx 2 in 2003 =)

You absolutely should NOT use your old save files for the new game. A lot of system stuff was changed.
At least the new version will actually shar ethe same items than the guide or something
