Regrets and Desires

*peeks head in to check no-one is around, then sneaks in*

Wow... it feels almost alien for me to sit down and write another blog (No. 198 as of writing). Not to mention the last blog for this game was written more than two years ago. And because Icebound is still pending, I'll probably just write the blog here.

So you'd probably be asking me why I'm writing another piece for a game that was completed in November 2014?

Well, thing is... The commercial evil is calling out to me. Like most hobbyists, I do dream about making a full-time living out of doing something I love so I can quit my dreary, soul-sucking 8-5 job.

It can seriously stifle the creative spirit and probably one of the reasons why my game-dev passion just vanished a few years ago. But now, having reached the ripe old age of 30 and forever leaving my twenties behind, I figured that:

1) I can't take life too seriously (most of my games have been pretty serious)
2) Let go of past grudges and
3) It is about high-time I decided to make the life I want to live and not be slave to a dreary job where getting a double bonus at the end of the year makes it bearable (it isn't).

I've also decided to buck-up on my art skills so that when I do go commercial one day, I can at least save myself a few hundred bucks by not hiring an artist. zero-project's (my music-muse) music is free for all commercial work, so that's one less problem to worry about.

Hello Laine, my old friend.

I'm also feeling a bit overwhelmed at trying to familiarise myself with MV. The engine has enormous potential, but all these plug-ins... Yanfly is seriously on a roll. To someone who has been using VX since late 2010-early 2011, to me it feels like the equivalent of going from paddling around in a baby pool, to diving off the 10-metre springboard. But I know it will pay off in the long-term. But I'll probably end up making a few short games in MV before taking this huge step.

It's exciting, but also terrifying at the same time. I need to let go of my innermost fears and just release all that pent-up creative energy. What is my innermost fears, you ask?

Well...

It is the fear of failure. Also, the fear of letting down people who expect great things from you, who expect you to be at the top of your game no matter what. But worst of all, for me at least, is when someone (whether in real life or on the internet) expresses immense disappointment in you. That... has always struck me hard and always sits like a lead balloon in my chest.

As to what happened about a year-and a half ago...

I regret it, and bitterly. I lost a few good friends that day, and I still it to this day. Every time I thought about RMN during my hiatus, that was the first incident I thought of. But I guess I'll have to learn to live with it.

So, here's to a better and more productive 2018! No more fears, no more past regrets, and no more looking back.

This is Luchi, who is now officially back from the dead, signing out.
Blog No. 198 written.

Also, the blog title is totally not a reference to an episode in Granblue.

Why are people still playing this? ><

Why wouldn’t people still be playing this, huh? HUH!?
It's a good game Luchino. There's people who have not tried it yet. It's a featured game. I'd be happy to have people still playing at least one of my games. I myself am enjoying this game. I am just too busy to give much feedback, or a review.

^ This.
I suppose its natural to look back on earlier projects with some sort of disdain. But I'm still happy if people have the game on their HDD ( or listen to the soundtrack ).

I guess its different for me as a developer, having play-tested it ad nauseam, so I sort of know what to expect, what to do etc. That whole magic of discovering the game as something new and exciting is sort of gone after that. Which explains my jadedness.

i've been putting it off kind of waiting for feed back from the dev.
30 minutes in i notice a lot of gap between words like
"Don t go to that c ave." and i am not sure if it was a weird mistake or due to the font style.
so i asked about it as to not waste time making notes of things that wont be fixed/improved :3 its really distracting for me :3
/
also i don't think it's still playing. not everyone has played it :3

That’s why you’re supposed to come back to it after a couple of months have gone by. After an appropriate amount of time has passed, you’ll be itchin’ to do another Enelysion run again, I'm sure of it!

Or maybe you can consider doing a low-level run of it if you haven’t done so already just as a personal challenge to yourself. It’s always fun to try and see if you can actually beat your own game with the minimalist of things and see if it's actually possible to do. You know that you've done good if you can manage to beat the whole game twenty levels less than what you're supposed to. :P

Yes, I still draw now and then, but I'm awfully lazy at making portraits.

I don't know why she ( Laine ) still sticks with me, nearly five years after I first did a sketch of her. Maybe I care more about this that I'm letting on. It won't let me go, and its killing me. I have a project to finish, another one I care greatly about, but... (sigh)

But don't mind my rambling. I just wanted to get it off my chest on a Tuesday morning.
There’s always enough room in that mushy exterior of yours to love both projects to death. Tristian may be your ace in the hole, but there’s always that Laine of spades lying around just when you need her…

How that whole sentence turned into a deck of cards reference - I don’t know!

- But right now your mission is painfully clear: You must finish Tristian and find the jade monkey before the next full moon before you can do anything else Enelysion related. I’m not sure how good you are at juggling more than one project around at a time, but it’s probably best just to focus on getting Tristian done sometime by next year since you’ve been working on it for quite some time now and I bet you really, really wanna get it done as soon as possible so you can move on to the next thing. (Gee, that whole sentence doesn't sound that familiar to me at all! *sarcasm*)
Yes, Addit. We're still waiting for your legendary Monopolo. I swear, its like an urban legend already. XD

Nah, I can't juggle two projects at once. Need to get Tristy done before even thinking of going back to Tairngire. If ever.

I should probably upload a new version of this ( almost year-old ) project of mine that includes an updated patch.

I really need to play it again.

( lol, looking throught at RMW screenie thread. that fog script totally reminds me of the one AK47 made for VX. What a rip-off. :/ I hate that site so much.)

i dont really remember exactly but in the room with water its a room down to left with 2 statues who will help you
iirc, it involves moving the statues around in one of the chambers until the blue torches light up. I haven't played my game in ages but I may consider writing a walkthrough for it. It is anything between 8-15 hours long, after all. XD

Random thoughts
Bold=what i consider more important
other=thoughts good or bad

beautiful :D

i love your small sprite on the world map!

a lot of words have spaces when they shouldn't as a example
"som e" appears often.

not fond of the gain stats in this game. its impossible to earn enough points to max everything out :(

i hate when games sell perm stat up items :/

red enemies are supposed to be aggressive but sometimes they don't rush you and i am not even talking about the special "bosses"

guh...it would of been nice if the 2nd finne village wasn't behind multiple rooms with enemies. it sucks that we manually have to walk thru it to leave to go to enelys tower :(
it sucks there are no crytals in lo'riel'O Geal

NOOOOOOOOOO patricks level resets when he rejoins you!?

theres alot of areas we could of not had monsters ...like Sidhe? give me a break!

patick was in your party when you met your ancestor despite that you're supposed to be alone

this games tedious. i really wish it were shorter...

this is what i mean...why do we have to go to fatalis and get more things? why cant we just deal with the guy now?
putting things off is annoying.

should have a shortcut to get to the soothsayer faster (when going back to get durandal)

the conclusion was pretty satisfying

General 8H 19M (expect a few hours longer)
This was a okay game. as i play for the characters and story, the battles were something i didn't care about despite being a significant part of the game.
the dialog needs a lot of fixing with spaces between words many times.

for my taste the characters didn't stand out or interest me for the most part. they weren't bad, i just didn't care about them.
the plot was okay. pretty standard
and the ending was satisfying in presentation and events.

Overall
based on my personal preferences i would not recommend this.
but outside that its something to spend 10+ hours on.
I've found Patrick and asked him to rejoin my party, but he does not show up in the menu. I can't get into the Sidhe without him. Help please. This is a great game an I am looking forward to finishing it.

Nevermind. I downloaded the patch and got it to work. I'm trying to defeat Vasilios now.
I really need to fix that Patrick bug in another release of the game. >< Maybe upload a full version of the game with all the bugs squashed. Since only 10% of the people who have downloaded the game have downloaded the patch as well.
hi, may i ask some questions?
- How can i open the leftmost door in Southern Shrine?
Here's the text when i press Z on it: It's an intricately carved door. There is a tiny hole for a medallion-sized object to fit inside the door's circular relief...
- How can i find the fire wolf?
It's for the first Ulster Creature Campaign. Whenever i enter Kulean Valley, it's always evening. How can i make the time to be night instead? I tried re-entering several times and using tent but it didn't work. Also, where is it spawned?
- What are the crystals in Ulaid Forest used for?
It's said "I wonder what this is...?" when i press Z on it.
- How can i open the chest in Gervis' Armoury in Landen?
It's always said that it's locked. Percival, the man in the armoury, said that Arthur has been gone somewhere else. Is this related? If so, where is Arthur?
- How can i enter the forgery in Barran's Weaponry in Landen?
- How can i enter the cave behind Log Cabin in Clannad's Home?

Note that i have beaten the final boss.

I know that this is an old game so.. any help would be appreciated.
Hello guys. I have a question which may sound stupid but it's really bothering me. I'm in the waterway doing the quest in the beginning. There are those balls which have to be moved. This thing is I can only move them forward. How can I pull them backward so that I can clear the way ? Thanks

shift + up/left/down/right (whichever direction you want to)
I really need to write a walkthrough for this game one day.
