The continent of Tairngire, E.C 759.

But the respite has been brief compared to early days, and a shadow of unease begins to steal over Tairgire once again.

Regrets and Desires

*peeks head in to check no-one is around, then sneaks in*

Wow... it feels almost alien for me to sit down and write another blog (No. 198 as of writing). Not to mention the last blog for this game was written more than two years ago. And because Icebound is still pending, I'll probably just write the blog here.

So you'd probably be asking me why I'm writing another piece for a game that was completed in November 2014?

Well, thing is... The commercial evil is calling out to me. Like most hobbyists, I do dream about making a full-time living out of doing something I love so I can quit my dreary, soul-sucking 8-5 job.

It can seriously stifle the creative spirit and probably one of the reasons why my game-dev passion just vanished a few years ago. But now, having reached the ripe old age of 30 and forever leaving my twenties behind, I figured that:

1) I can't take life too seriously (most of my games have been pretty serious)
2) Let go of past grudges and
3) It is about high-time I decided to make the life I want to live and not be slave to a dreary job where getting a double bonus at the end of the year makes it bearable (it isn't).

I've also decided to buck-up on my art skills so that when I do go commercial one day, I can at least save myself a few hundred bucks by not hiring an artist. zero-project's (my music-muse) music is free for all commercial work, so that's one less problem to worry about.

Hello Laine, my old friend.

I'm also feeling a bit overwhelmed at trying to familiarise myself with MV. The engine has enormous potential, but all these plug-ins... Yanfly is seriously on a roll. To someone who has been using VX since late 2010-early 2011, to me it feels like the equivalent of going from paddling around in a baby pool, to diving off the 10-metre springboard. But I know it will pay off in the long-term. But I'll probably end up making a few short games in MV before taking this huge step.

It's exciting, but also terrifying at the same time. I need to let go of my innermost fears and just release all that pent-up creative energy. What is my innermost fears, you ask?

Well...

It is the fear of failure. Also, the fear of letting down people who expect great things from you, who expect you to be at the top of your game no matter what. But worst of all, for me at least, is when someone (whether in real life or on the internet) expresses immense disappointment in you. That... has always struck me hard and always sits like a lead balloon in my chest.

As to what happened about a year-and a half ago...

I regret it, and bitterly. I lost a few good friends that day, and I still it to this day. Every time I thought about RMN during my hiatus, that was the first incident I thought of. But I guess I'll have to learn to live with it.

So, here's to a better and more productive 2018! No more fears, no more past regrets, and no more looking back.

This is Luchi, who is now officially back from the dead, signing out.
Blog No. 198 written.

Also, the blog title is totally not a reference to an episode in Granblue.

Ah... that's how it's done.
Thanks, Oblic. I completely overlooked the "Edit" button for some reason.
Ok, it seems like more enemies later on actually take damage from physical attacks. And I found a place where you can buy powerful permanent stat boosting items.

But I also found a game-breaking bug. I was exploring around on the monster hunt sidequest instead of advancing the story and ended up in the Ulaid forest. At the end before what seemed like a boss room there was a message saying something like "this will end volume 1." I tried to leave, but couldn't enter the valley again and am stuck.
Unfortunately I saved my game >_<
All right everyone. I added the Ver 1.1 patch which will fix up most of those major errors/game-breaking bugs. Note: This is only for those who have downloaded the game already.

- Make a new folder, call it EHD Ver 1.1 or w/e.
- Add in the Audio folder that you got from Ver 1.
- Extract like normal, and put whatever save games you have in that folder. It will still work.
I don't get the system behind the sparkly things. Which things sparkle, and which don't?
I am completely stuck in the abandoned ancient shrine. There were 4 sets of doors after Siglud knocked his way into a chamber. I figure I need to pull the switch by the right most door. But the blasted statue blocking it just could not be moved. Is there a special key commend that I need to use for "pull" instead of "push"?
@nemica: Most 'key items' are marked with sparkles. Most of the items that you find in barrels, crates etc. are unmarked. It is up to the player how much they want to explore. Even the occasional bookshelf, stove-top and counter can be investigated ( without a reward, though. Laine will just make a simple comment. Got the idea from Phantasy Star 4 ).

@samji: You need to pull the statue towards you by holding Shift+Z. It is outlined in the game guide, after all. =)
So a statue that gives me a blurb about Fontani (is it spelled like that?) is a key item, but the pieces of timber that I need to advance in the sewers aren't? Hum.

Also, I got standard consumables from both sparkly and non-sparkly spots. And why are some signs sparkly and others not?

I still fail to see a pattern in this, sorry.
Ah, I should have removed the sparkles from the usual items you can find. -_- It will be corrected in a later release ( like a month from now ) to avoid confusion. Sorry about that.

Yuna, I'm sorry I missed the maiden voyage ... then again, I'll make sure to make playing Enelysion and reviewing it one of my first priorities once I get back into RMN playing mode.
Thanks, Yuna. Somehow, I knew it would be a mistake as stupid as that. I read the guide, and somehow didn't see it (even if it was high lighted. Sign...!).
The game is great so far. Love the music too. I have played enough RPGs to see heard work turning into quality. Great job, yuna. But I haven't gotten to the heart of it yet. So, move on...

ps. another question. The waterway infestation sidequest. There are 2 sets of "drop-bridges". After I pulled all of the switches, I realized the southern set of bridges never dropped. I could see (barely) an entrance of sort at the bottom of the screen. But I would need to cross the bridge to get there. Are we not supposed to go down there? Or did I miss something again?
@educhuy: I do look forward to your review ( there are some bugs in Ver 1.2, but hopefully, they won't detract too much from the overall experience ). I plan to release Ver 1.3, but that is around a month or so from now. =)

@samjii: The southern bridge does not drop. It is permanently broken. XD

Don't worry Yuna. It will take me a while to get back to RM playing shape. So I'll deal with version 1.3 once it comes out.
All right then. Version 1.2 actually. =) Since I released 1.1 a few days ago, and I'm busy with 1.2 now.

Needless to say, it will be very patchy version I'll be dealing with ...
I really suggest you look at the things on your Hints and Tips page, since right now, it's less of hints and tips and more of a required reading.

In general, this game could take a bit more explaining, especially for skill and stat points and pulling/pushing. Maybe bring it up when the respective things become relevant first.
The pushing/pulling mechanisms ( and other things ) are explained in the Guide section of the main menu. :\ Stat distribution is obvious. You get a couple of points for every few levels you gain. You cannot re-distribute them afterwards ( it would probably break game balance ).

If you would like to do a review, you can wait until Ver 1.2. I'm only one person and can't solve everything immediately.
Yuna,
This might have been reported. In the Eos temple. After I finished the east door, I enter the west door. After I saved at the crystal, there was an encounter rushed up to me as soon as I stepped into the next room. The game crashed everytime it bumped into me. It is obviously a bug. My solution was to sneak VERY carefully around it and went to fight the guardian and retrieved the sword.

Second, I think 4 skills are just too few to equip. Everyone of them had such cool skills that were NEVER used because there was just no room for more. It is especially difficult with the healer. Other than revive, heal, and cure, the 3 basic must have. Patrick only has 1 slot left for attacking skills. And he is also the main black mage, too. (I could only boost up Laine's Mag as much as I could, as a backup mag, which reduced her from a great sword fighter into a mediocre Swordswoman + a poor mag. Alas!) Maybe they should be able to gain slots as their mag increases. but overall, 4 is still not enough.

Stat distribution is obvious.

Obvious is only that you have to distribute them. How you should distribute them isn't.
I am ready to go to the Ulaid Forest. Now, where is that Patrick? He is such a teenage girl! So sensitive. I mean, come on! Toughen up and be a man! OK. Laine is the man in this relationship. But, still, grow up already. What does Laine see in him, anyway? Nonetheless, I feel kind of bad leaving without him. Am I not supposed to find him?
Any idea when 1.2 will come out?
