The continent of Tairngire, E.C 759.

But the respite has been brief compared to early days, and a shadow of unease begins to steal over Tairgire once again.

Regrets and Desires

*peeks head in to check no-one is around, then sneaks in*

Wow... it feels almost alien for me to sit down and write another blog (No. 198 as of writing). Not to mention the last blog for this game was written more than two years ago. And because Icebound is still pending, I'll probably just write the blog here.

So you'd probably be asking me why I'm writing another piece for a game that was completed in November 2014?

Well, thing is... The commercial evil is calling out to me. Like most hobbyists, I do dream about making a full-time living out of doing something I love so I can quit my dreary, soul-sucking 8-5 job.

It can seriously stifle the creative spirit and probably one of the reasons why my game-dev passion just vanished a few years ago. But now, having reached the ripe old age of 30 and forever leaving my twenties behind, I figured that:

1) I can't take life too seriously (most of my games have been pretty serious)
2) Let go of past grudges and
3) It is about high-time I decided to make the life I want to live and not be slave to a dreary job where getting a double bonus at the end of the year makes it bearable (it isn't).

I've also decided to buck-up on my art skills so that when I do go commercial one day, I can at least save myself a few hundred bucks by not hiring an artist. zero-project's (my music-muse) music is free for all commercial work, so that's one less problem to worry about.

Hello Laine, my old friend.

I'm also feeling a bit overwhelmed at trying to familiarise myself with MV. The engine has enormous potential, but all these plug-ins... Yanfly is seriously on a roll. To someone who has been using VX since late 2010-early 2011, to me it feels like the equivalent of going from paddling around in a baby pool, to diving off the 10-metre springboard. But I know it will pay off in the long-term. But I'll probably end up making a few short games in MV before taking this huge step.

It's exciting, but also terrifying at the same time. I need to let go of my innermost fears and just release all that pent-up creative energy. What is my innermost fears, you ask?

Well...

It is the fear of failure. Also, the fear of letting down people who expect great things from you, who expect you to be at the top of your game no matter what. But worst of all, for me at least, is when someone (whether in real life or on the internet) expresses immense disappointment in you. That... has always struck me hard and always sits like a lead balloon in my chest.

As to what happened about a year-and a half ago...

I regret it, and bitterly. I lost a few good friends that day, and I still it to this day. Every time I thought about RMN during my hiatus, that was the first incident I thought of. But I guess I'll have to learn to live with it.

So, here's to a better and more productive 2018! No more fears, no more past regrets, and no more looking back.

This is Luchi, who is now officially back from the dead, signing out.
Blog No. 198 written.

Also, the blog title is totally not a reference to an episode in Granblue.

Why bother even making the 1st game if you do not intend making a second to finish the story - it tends to leave players up in the air and disappointed -especially when the game is a great game-
Vol II will continue. =)
Thanks for the answer but I have been back and checked every pot chest etc but no key - all pots are now empty - even checked the bodies - any help would be appreciated and I am glad that vol 2 will come out
Ah my bad. Try this map fix. ( incidentally, the chest that contains the key event was set to Below Characters, which explains why it isn't popping up ).

Just drop it in the Data folder. =)
Many thanks works now - will the key open any other chests that may be found
No, it will only open the chests in the Raider Cave. =)
About time I updated the game page's CSS...

I predict it will something very nice! :D
Still messing around with the correct colours and stuff. XD

Added the Development Art page.
Initial impressions after first 15 minutes of play. Excellent choice of music and interesting characters so far. Almost everything I examined had a description. You certainly put a lot of thought into each house. Glad to find to another game using the AP system. I appreciate the flexibility this gives me in character development. I only wish I could subtract ability points in case I make a mistake. Legionwood Tale of Two Swords had a system like this.

I'll try to remember to write a review when I finish the game.
I would say that the audio is the strongest aspect of the game, and the current version of the game should be alot easier ( and more fun )to play through ever since the enemies got a severe nerf ( bosses can still give the player a run for their money, though ).

But I do look forward to your review ( the full game hasn't got a single one since it was released in September ).
does the game work on windows 8 ?????

The enemies in the caves near Ogham village are actually providing a decent challenge.

I've run into a small problem. I searched the caves and I can't find a way to get further into the dungeon. Most likely I'm just missing something.

I pulled both levers and the bars over blocked section were removed. I haven't found anything of note in that section though. I was a bit tired so it is very possible I missed something.

I was able to find the door way I missed. Currently trying to figure out what is the trick to the knock puzzle in the abandoned shrine. I have tried different combinations and none have worked so far.

EDIT: I'm officially stuck at the abandoned shrine. I have tried every knock combination I can think of on the panels and nothing has happened.
Updated the Hints page with solutions to the two Shrine puzzles ( since I know players will get stuck XD ).
Congrats on the hidden gem!!! You deserve it after all your hard work on the game :)

You weren't kidding about the Eos Temple boss being tough. He wiped out half my party in the first round.

Before I forget there are four bugs I have come across.

After the scene at Rikard's grave I re-entered Landen and am immediately taken to the Dirty Dog. The bar tender then reminds to go speak with the two knights. The problem begins if you try to re-enter the dirty dog before speaking with the knights.

If you re-enter, the dirty dog the bar tender acts as if Laine never told him about leaving. When you are taken to back room the screen darkens and stays that way. If you pull up the menu it says you are in the dirty dog back room. You can move around but you can't see anything. If you exit the back room you will be invisible and behind the bar counter. You also can't get out from behind there.

The second bug also relates to the cut scene where Laine informs the bar tender (I can't remember his name) she is leaving. I tried to skip the scene and the error "
*Bitmap* :Graphics/Characters/$lucius." I pulled the error from the missing log. Its worth nothing that this happened after I re-entered the Dirty Dog after being reminded to speak with the knights.

I'm not sure about the third bug. When I was first asked if I wished to join the hunts I said no. The second time I said yes and was told to speak with Lamfada (spelling?). When I speak with Lamfada, all he does is ask what brings me to the eastern part of the continent.
Its worth noting that I only tried to sign up for the hunts after visiting the village in the forest.

The fourth bug occurred when I went to check the sell price on the Gauntlet at Trader's Inc. This is the first bug I came across. I was trading with the chubby trader outside. When I select Gauntlet in sell mode, The game brings up an error and then crashes. I didn't write the error down and I can't recall what it said. Sorry I can't provide more details on this one.

Bugs aside this game has been a joy to play. High marks for storyline and music.

EDIT: This game is certainly worthy of the title hidden gem. I wouldn't have found it if it hadn't been highlighted on the front page. Thanks Kentona.

Ah, the usual bugs. >< There are always a couple that I happen to overlook. But as long as they don't cause the player to rage-quit, I'm happy. XD Those are the worst sort of bugs. But I'm happy that you're enjoying it so far. Then again, after three years of development, players should be getting some form of joy out of the game.

As for me, I'm working on EvII now.

This screen basically sums up what will happen in Vol II.

And there is a cheap trick to defeating most bosses in the game, including Avinchii ( he's my favourite boss so far, and the Eos Shrine was my favourite area to design )

Long live Avinchiiiiii. XD
I'll be taking another shot at the Eos Temple boss later today. Going to try and silence him using Patrick's staff.

Do you know a way around the possible glitch I encountered with the hunts sign up?
The hunts will be available after a sequence of events once you finish up the Eos Temple. =)

Oh, and Avinchii can't be Silenced, but he can be Poisoned and Wounded.
