I bash thyself.

Really, I don't know what to do with this game anymore. I lurk a lot on these forums, and I was actually quite surprised to see this game on a list of possible future Featured games. But in all honesty, if I am brutally honest with myself, this game doesn't deserve it. I am my own worst critic. I don't find the characters engaging anymore, the story is slow, gameplay is a bit monotonous. The only stand-out features are the visuals and the music, and that's about it ( and the world-building ) but... that alone doesn't make a good game.

I don't know about the rest of you guys. It was just rotten luck I uploaded the Completed game during a lull season ( September/October, then there was the Halloween event ) and it could explain the severe lack of feedback so far. But I know you guys have lives. =)

I don't regret making it though. Its just... the passion I had for it way back in 2011 has died ( and it seems that the game's fanbase has taken a dip as well ) and it means I will never continue it. Ever.

It's good that you're being honest with yourself yuna21. Personally, I think your game is quite engaging and features a ton of custom art and assets, and a lot of care has gone into making the game. Granted you may not be pleased with how the gameplay, story, characters have come along, but many others don't feel the same way that you do. This game has a lot of fans and you should be proud of that.

That said, don't feel the need to continue with the project if you don't want to. Do what makes you feel good. Either way, you've created a grand RPG that many, many people have enjoyed and for that very rare achievement you should be proud. Perhaps start a clean slate and make some more amazing games, or just do whatever you like. Treat this as a stepping stone to something greater.

And yes, you are bashing yourself because this game is by no means a bad game. I mean I'm not going to pity you but all I can say is be encouraged that you are a lot more than you think of yourself.

Regardless of what you feel about Enelysion, it's probably a good thing to let go ... unless you need to squash some reported bugs. You tried your best, pouring your heart and soul into it, which is what counts. I, for one, appreciate the effort you put into it, even if I haven't gotten around to playing the final version to determine how it ended up.
It's pretty normal for artsy people like us in RMN to look upon their old works and think "How did I produce such crap?". Don't think it's emblematic of a much larger personal failing. You just need to be a bit more forward thinking and positive about your improvement.

Heck, I'll even bet 5 years from now, you'll think "What was I thinking with Tristian : LotL? My current project is so much better."

What Dyhalto said, it's a sign of progress ...
I am very happy with the progress I've done so far ( or how far I've come since I started RMing in 2009 ) and I tend to bash myself because I set really high standards for myself. But I suppose my standards differ from the average RMer.

And yes, maybe in five or so years, I will laugh at LoTL as well. I still want to make that love letter RPG to the early Phantasy Stars...

Maybe, I'll squash the bugs for EHD, upload it for the very last time ( end of the month ) and... that will be the end of it. =) Unencrypted, so it will be easier to patch if there are any errors.
While this is just my opinion, I find the story of Enelysion to be one of the better written I've seen. While some of the major plot points do tend to come in later, the world building you set up made it worth while to experience. Every area has an air of life to it, and the character interactions you set up are believable and interesting. I actually really like how you handled Ralph's pacifistic characteristics when he left the party. You handled the archetype well, and I really enjoyed the decisions you made in his development.

Enelysion is a wonderful game, I believe. Keep up the good work in your next project.
