I know this game's over and done with, but man this was good.

This is actually my first review of a game, ever. This probably will be really annoying. Anyway, 3, 2, 1, let's gooooo!

STORY

At first, the story seems to be pretty cliche at the beginning, with Laine's power executing scenes at the beginning and scaring all those bandits away like a boss, but then again, it only turns out to be a job she was doing and getting paid for. Nothing bad, though. Though, what tends to be really cliche about the beginning part of the game is when that random hooded guy goes to warn you that Laine is obviously in grave danger and that if she doesn't do something soon all will be lost. Something along those lines. I mean, good for foreshadowing, but it's also cliche because it seems to have been done so many times in both games and anime. And the hooded guy goes away like it's nothing! Laine, take off his hood! Don't watch the guy go! Then you can find out all the secrets. Anyway, later on, she tends to meet Patrick at the church, a fellow close friend of hers. I swear, it's like yuna21's telling us that they'll become a couple with the way they tend to interact with each other. They heavily remind me of FF13's Lightning and Hope. I guess Laine is basically quite motherly to Patrick, and smothers him with love. Hence this picture:

I mean that is clear proof right?!

Anyways, overall the story tends to be cliche at first but unravels into its own original story to mess up and bad guys! No, I'm joking. Let me restate that. Overall, the story tends to be cliche at first which may turn off some people who live for both unique story and characters which are what make a game, including gameplay. I do love unique stories as well, but I also don't mind cliche stories that tend to unfold into their own original story, or execute their cliches in quite and unique and unpredictable way. A bit cliche, but who the hell cares?! This game has good track picks and it's awesome!

CHARACTERS

Surprisingly enough, I liked most of the characters in the game, and it has good characters for an RPG Maker Game. I'm not very good at criticizing characters therefore there is no point to putting this category up, is there? But I'll go for it anyway. First review is best review, right? No. No it's not.

Anyway, I'd definitely say, and this is pretty common, that my favorite character is Laine. Firstly, I love how she's not a complete Mary Sue nor is she an Anti Mary Sue. (I think this was mentioned before. In the beginning, she demonstrates her powers which is good, and at the same time, she isn't invincible. Gameplay wise, that is.) She feels like a mix between Cloud, Lightning, and the American Leon. And some other Final Fantasy or even Fire Emblem Characters who are similar to that. Though, at times, it 'feels' like she's a bit too perfect, going around and helping people and such. I mean she's a mercenary/soldier... or something, right? (I wasn't paying attention to what job she has. Low attention span?)

Another one of the characters I like is Patrick. I like how he, firstly, isn't a pussy and isn't afraid to fight others. He reminds me of Hope being matured in FF13. He, IMO, grows from a pussy to a man. I still like his old name, Rolf, for some reason. That just sticks to me instead of Patrick, for some reason. He should totally get his own game--- okay, no ideas. No ideas... Enelysion is over, Blast. Enelysion is over. Anyway, Patrick is a pretty mature guy, and once I even thought Patrick and Laine were a couple at the beginning of the game. I don't know why, but it just seemed like it to me. Though, at right times and in right manners, seems to be anxious/worrysome of some of the events that have appeared to be repeating itself in the game. It looks as if he doesn't want to be a part of anything bad. Ah, poor Patrick. TOO BAD YOU WILL.

I liked the other two characters, as well. I feel like there's not much to say about them to me. Then again, Laine and Patrick are basically the characters that stick with us to from the beginning to the end of the game. It wouldn't be quite far to suddenly spoil the other two characters who are going to be joining your party, right? Right? I didn't just spoil, did I? Alright, bad joke there. Onto gameplay.

GAMEPLAY

Now, this is sort of where the game tends to fall short of. Though, don't fret; every game has its ups and downs in their battle systems, right?

I really like how, if you're low on HP, Laine/Rolf/any party member's Wrath activates as soon as you get low HP. I'm not really sure if that's to increase your attack force when you're in a pinch, because I often don't pay attention when it comes to instructions in a game and I get stuck and go, "Wtf"?

Heck, I even liked some of the beta screenshots of Enelysion I found across the net. Thank Google, now.

Though it does heavily remind me of Adela Isra, (seriously, where did that project go. WHERE DID THE CREATOR GO?!) the Fire Emblem and sprites, as well as the regular battlers from the program do look great. Heck, this would be beautiful if Marimo did the ar--- er, sorry. Well I mean overall the art is done well, drawn pretty good and with smooth lines, too. I think someone did the smooth lining. I'll learn to draw too, and possibly make fan art for this.... Yeees, fan art. *manically laughs*

Also, I do like how you are given the ability to skip a cutscene or not. It saves time and gameplay, so you don't have to sit through and watch every cutscene if you lose the battle and get straight to it. Though, I DO wish there were arrow graphics to direct you at wherever you go, though it is pretty obvious for most of the maps in the game. I guess it'll be a better directing as to where you can and can't go yet.

The enemies tend to be a bit too hard at the beginning of the game, and sometimes even frustrating with the amount of losses I got within the game. I don't want to sugar coat my words, but they seemed broken, and you could only go on 3-4 battles before you have to hurry and find a save point to recover your health. Though, it's probably just me. To put it bluntly, first of all, the enemies messed me up in the beginning of the game, for example, the wolves in Pan Forest. For some reason, I don't ever use healing items in an RPG Maker game. I don't even know why.

I shouldn't be whining and going, "WHY ISN'T THERE A CONTINUE BUTTON?"

AESTHETICS

The aesthetics of this game tended to be quite well put together. The segment between powerful scenes of the game were not pampered, but beautifully well done. Sometimes I would just chill in certain towns to either listen to the music and admire the maps in the game. The lighting is also quite well done as well, as there was nothing that seemed WAY too bright, or WAY too dark, it was just done right inbetween, which is good. The art of the games were done well, even for someone who did the art with a mouse. Can you believe that? All that art. Done. With a mouse.

Okay, enough of my jokes. Either way, I love how some of the art scenes were done in the final version, although I admired some of the old art scenes in the images panel more than the final, like this one:

Though that IS outdated, it does look beautiful. To me at least. If you try practicing with art more every now and then, that'd look alot better. Don't get me wrong though, it already is good.

Anyyyyyyyyyyyyyway, overall, I really enjoyed the game's arts, cutscenesery, dialogue, and characters/story, though some of the characters and certain parts of the story felt? cliche, but who the hell cares, I mean we all base our games/stories/characters off SOMETHING, right?

STORY = 4/5
CHARACTERS = 4/5
GAMEPLAY = 4/5
AESTHETICS = 5/5

As a whole, this game gets a 4/5 for me.

Pretty good game, though the battle system tends to have a couple of flaws with its difficulty in it. Otherwise, I liked almost all of it! Now then, get going with Tristan: Lady of the Lion. Definitely waiting for that one.

Well, that's the end of my first review. I tried, trust me.

Haha, thanks for the review anyway, Fury. Looks like you avoided those cutscene bugs that poor Neok ran into. And I'm glad you brought up Adela Isra. That game heavily inspired my level design and general aesthetics for the game. I was sort of bummed that there hasn't been any updates at all in ages. ;_;

And fan art, eh? XD I always welcome it, lol. And you earned yourself 50 MS too. ^^

Poor Laine. Keeps getting compared to Lightning. Maybe she should be called the 'Lightning of the RM scene'.

I actually don't really understand the comparisons? They're both tough ladies, but Lightning is more gruff and rude, while Laine is actually pretty nice, if still a little prickly. She's more efficient than anything, and super focused on her goal.

Lightning is like... very bitter and angry, and she kinda mellows out as she goes. Laine's rages aren't really HER, at essence, while Lightning's are SUPER a product of her internal conflict.

IDK I COULD THEORIZE ABOUT FAKE PEOPLE FOREVER OTL
Nah, I think its more about the overall resemblance. XD
Holy shit, that beta shot, lol.

Why Rolf, though? And what made you initially change it to Patrick?

Because no straight man in their right sense of mind would want to p*ss either one of them off. They’re too scary.
Rolf just makes me think of Rofl and that whiny archer brat in Fire Emblem as well ( who also had green hair ). And Pat, well. Saint Patrick, of course. :D

Haha, no problem Yuna! I really like this game anyways. And yeah, I seriously wonder where the creator went... he said he's been having financial issues but that was YEARS ago the last I checked.

When I get good enough at fan art, one day. One day...

I dunno! She just feels like Lightning, though they are heavily different in personality. I agree with how Lightning acts, punching people all over the place and shit like she's the boss of Pulse. Laine is better though, Lightning can go gtfo cause she's got nothing on Laine. In general, they're both wonderful characters! And both hot as fuck. Hurhurhur

THAT. Was probably what made his name memorable. Rofl. "Rolf! Laine! Rofl!" Sorry, my corny jokes are going to infect you now.

Exactly! If we piss of Lighting, we'll have a high risk of dying. Laine, however... if we piss her off... we're dead. All of us. Every single one of us.

See and here I am, totally okay with a badass lady like Lightning or Laine stepping on my neck or something.
