A well polished game to have fun with

I just remembered that i haven't reviewed this game. I finished this game a month ago or so, so i might missed some details.

Intro
Enelysion:Redux is a quite long game (around 12+ hours) which revolves about our heroine, Laine and her companion to takes her throne back and defeat the evil which harms her family.

Story
The story in this game is quite straight-forward. It's just your usual story about the hero who are going to save the world, in a different style and with some twist. Note that i don't really mind about the story like that, but it's just repeated too much on the dialogues over and over until i am getting bored about it. The only thing that entices me is the interaction between characters which is somehow interesting (and funny). It's also what makes the ending to let me smile a little.

However, although the interaction is quite good, there are some scenes which i think is too exaggerated, like on how Laine dwells about what to do, and her conflict with the priest. I don't meant those things isn't necessary, but i think that those can be presented better.

Battle
The battle system is like your usual turn based battle, with some spell and attack to battle with. Sadly, i must said that magic user is quite at a disadvantage in this game, as it's quite hard to recover MP in this game. I myself have to let that party member to defend everytime to let him save some MP. Note that it could be because of my status assignment's fault too.

Talking about status, Enelysion:Redux lets you to assign your own status point. You can shape your character in any way you want, either to pool all the stats to attack, or maybe balance it out. Make sure you don't screw it up though, because you can get into trouble if you did it.

Dungeons
One thing i like about this game is how there is no random encounters. I don't really like random encounter because it tend to distract my concentration, so it really helps. You can choose either to battle the opponent or not. Note that there is some aggresive monster so be prepared to be chased if you choose not to battle it.

There are puzzles on the dungeons. It's not that easy to solve though, so be prepared. If you are stuck (yes, it is that hard), there is a guide to help you with, although it's not complete.

With so many hidden areas in this game (with maybe some hidden items in it), i must say that it is quite hard to look for all of them, considering there is no guide. I ended this game without completing it 100%, but i am satisfied enough to leave it as it is.

The only thing i complained about the dungeon is the one-way path in the cave (i forgot which, but i think it's the one which connects the top left cave with the bottom left cave). I don't really know why it is made like that, and it's kinda annoying when you accidentally forgot to open some chest on the map before you or maybe you just want to explore a bit more.

Side-Quests
Besides the main quest, you can look for side quests. Some side quests can give a unique weapon (which is useful up to some point). However, there is no way to track ongoing side quests and the available side quests. I suggest that it's being kept as a record like how it did on the main mission. The other unfortunate thing is, it's quite hard to track the quest giver as there is no special marking to it.

Graphics
If you have noticed the screenshots already, you should know that this game graphics are no joke; They are made beautifully and placed accordingly. The mappings are done in a great detail and you can see the effort in doing it. Each area has their own charms and matches with their theme. The lighting is being done greatly and i must say that i like it very much.

Pros:
- Amazing graphics
- Difficult puzzles
- No random encounters
- Free status costumization

Cons:
- Can't track active and available sidequest
- It's difficult to recover MP

You didn’t do what I did the first time and forget to balance out your magic stats initially and got absolutely ass-whomped at a certain dungeon regarding a certain boss fight that starts with the letter “A” and decided to bring that up in the review because of it, right? Lol.

I mean, yeah, thinking back to when I first played Enelysion for the first time through and decided to review it a few years back, it kind of sucks that when you initially have a party member first join you that you get to spend all of these points on upgrading them in whatever category you wish but if you happen to not balance out one stat over the other that it can come back to bite you in the ass and there’s no way afterwards to just start all over again and re-balance a character again from scratch. *sigh* Oh well.

Well, Luchi, I guess you know what your next side project’s gonna be when you get the chance. ^^

Good review, aquatorrent. I was pleasantly surprised to see another review of Enelysion posted up today and I thought I would comment on it. Good job. Yeah, it’s a bit on the short side, but at least it’s to the point.
Thanks for the review, aquatorrent. Admittedly, I haven't played this game of mine in a while, but I'm glad you enjoyed it. =)

@Addit: Hey, Avinchii is my favourite boss. I had to nerf him three times because he was too difficult in the earlier builds, so be happy for that. =) I will write a walkthrough. Eventually. After I've finished Tristian.

Although i want to deny it so much, i did have a trouble in that boss, and i almost give up playing this game because of it. Luckily i didn't do it and somehow ended up defeating it (i still can't forget the feeling after beating it, lol). After that i make sure to balance my stat well. I actually love glass cannon build, but it doesn't work well in most games. I think i didn't screw it up that much up to the point to restart it over though, so i guess i'm quite lucky, lol.

And thanks! Somehow this game crossed my mind when i am thinking about something to review. I am still new in review making so it might not be very good, but i'm trying my best. Glad you like it though! :)

No problem and thanks for making an awesome game! I'm also glad that you are planning to make a walkthrough though. It could help the perfectionists to 100% the game. :)
