My last blog was...almost 3 years ago? Sorry about that :/
I gradually stopped coming by for a while because I had become too anxious to post anything, kind of lost interest in rpg maker after MV, and somehow wound up getting into the ME3 multiplayer and modding scene as some sort of makeshift exposure therapy. (Who knew that shitposting about turians was the key to get myself to talk to people again?) And there's been a user on here who has been ripping off a lot of my work in my absence and not stopping after being reported a long time ago, so that's pissed me off enough to return.

I've been refreshing myself with old notes to figure out where I was going, knocked out a bunch of old to-dos, and cut one scene because it was no longer needed. I'm also planning to reduce the scope further because some sidequests are a pain to test, and the light exploration I had in mind a long time ago no longer makes sense with the characters being forced to go into hiding due to plot reasons.

Looking at this project with fresh eyes, I realized that the status screen totally clashed with the other menus. Before, its description box was on the top and HP/FP was on the bottom, while the description in all other menu screens was on the bottom. But now they match! I also redrew Moshi's portrait to add more belts and make her look a little older.

After that, I drew a couple quick pieces of concept art for one of the oneiroi, an inhabitant of the astral plane/dream world. He already has a name and some dialogue implemented, but had no portrait until now.

I'm currently working on coloring his finalized waist-up ingame portrait which uses elements from the two drafts. Although he's not a party member, he'd be a major contributor to Moshi's storyline, moveset, and the title of the game as well.

OMG! I am SOOOO happy to see an update!!!
This was one of the first rpg maker games I played, which got me even more interested in game developing! I loved the game, and I was kind of sad seeing that there were no updates on it. I like the new version of Moshi! Apart from looking older, I think she has a "particular charming face"? I don't know how to explain, but her new expression is quite the serious/mysterious one, and I like THAT! Anyway, good luck with the game! I hope you will enjoy developing it again! >u<

Also excited to see this making a return. Here’s to hopefully seeing it completed!
Happy return! We all find our way back eventually.
I'm also excited to see you working on this again. The new status mock-up looks really neat.
Great to see you Back and at it again. The new art looks good.
Wow, new updates! Glad to see you continue this project. Hope all the best for you.

During the period where I stopped posting for a while, someone put up a gamepage that (last I checked) ripped off the location names of mine, part of the tagline, a character, and even tile & sprite edits that could only have been obtained by cracking the existing demo. And they did a pretty bad job of making it not too obvious also.
They probably thought I'd never come back to notice, but I reported the page as well as sent them a pm along the lines of "I know what you did" but they never replied, haha
I KNOW WHAT YOU DID

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I mean, names, ideas, and edits of public RTP resources are not proprietary. Anyone can use those if they want, you don't have a right to stop them. That's not how copyright works. Those aren't yours. The RTP belongs to Degica regardless of anyone's minor edits, and ideas can never belong to anyone.

Plus, this is a community and we are all working our hardest at making each other's games better. That's why we're all here. If someone wants to use your stuff, you should absolutely let them, and be proud that what you made was good enough for someone else to think it would be useful to them.

Shitposting is life. My first forum posts ever were shitposting about FF6. It's what brings us together. Welcome back!

What a bad take. Melkino didn't claim the other game was breaking copyright law, just that it was treading all over their work. It's one thing to create an homage to a completed game, but it's another to snipe stuff from a work-in-progress. It's pretty disheartening to see someone take work you put a lot of love into customizing and rush it out the door in their own project before yours is even released. If they wanted to use Melkino's stuff, they should have done this thing called "asking permission".

worst take ever.

Oh, LockeZ! You never disappoint in that you always disappoint. If I make RTP edits, those edits are mine and it's not anyone else's right to use my effort as their own for commercial OR private works. Copyright law or the original creator of the art I changed is completely irrelevant. It's a product of my efforts now - look up transformative use.

By the way, nobody here owes anyone the use of their own efforts.

This person had never even spoken to me before, much less asked permission, or even bothered to alter the series of copypasted things a bit to make it less obvious. If there were edits or something I had wanted to share with everyone, I would've done so on the resources page with credit to the creator.

No one should be "proud" to be stolen from. Then again, I'm not surprised at this coming from someone who entitled himself to rip the CSS I worked on for this gamepage over to his own a few years ago, nearly verbatim to the point where my commented out notes were still in there, and then trying to justify it afterward.

CSS can't be copyrighted either, you dip. Reuse of CSS and HTML is an industry-wide practice in web design. That's like accusing someone of ripping you off because they took the same directions to work as you.
As evident by like, everything done in the RM community ever. No one here gives a shit about copyright law. It's mainly down to the community and culture to deem what's proper etiquette and what's not.

That said, getting bent out of shape over edits is silly IMO, but if it's literally a "yeah just change it up a bit so it doesn't look obvious you copied" project paste without any honesty or humility, then yeah I can see the problem. Even if using straight up rips in your project it's poor form to claim them as your own or be very obtuse on how exactly the project was made. Not due to LAWS OF THE LAND or anything, but just general decency and street cred.
