The attack animation is set to Auto Start so you can't move while you slash your sword. But the slash lasts approximately 0.2 seconds so you can still attack and quickly move away if you're in a pinch.
Anyway you won't need to move around much while attacking because the swords' charged attacks cover a lot of ground. You just have to learn how to use each one of them efficiently.
