There is now a website you can use to share your custom content with other users! But you're still welcome to use this page to share and discuss content.

Below is a list of finished custom (user-made) content. To add these characters, in most cases you can extract the downloaded file to the game's main directory and you're set. Depending on how the author has organized them, it may be necessary to move files to the appropriate directories. (Custom content has not been tested by me)
Note: After new content has been added, old saves won't be compatible.

If you have posted custom content in this thread, I will (eventually) add your link to the list above, along with a small screenshot if you have included one. Be sure to test your content in-game before posting.

Helpful things:

--> Medium build girl, the .psd that was used to create the built-in characters, is available with layer names in English.

--> Not feeling artistic? You can use any of these images for making custom characters.

--> Notepad++ with syntax highlighting for Heartache 101 can be a big help with story creation.

--> If you are writing story content that includes the appearance of existing characters (built-in or custom), the following list may be of reference:
ID 0 = The Player
ID 1 = Nakajima Miki
ID 2 = Ikeda Keika
ID 3 = Onishi Tsubasa

My biggest problem is that the audio files I chose have lyrics in them. So you can imagine the madness of hearing a rock song for 10 seconds, then going to the default music's jazzy tunes for 10 seconds and then a completely different rock song that has nothing to do with the scene at hand.

Oh I can imagine all right! During the first implementation of the quad-tech's introduce events (before the game told me that introducing more than one character was "bad"), it was like:

So, like, we're all in the same grade, and everything?
# The rest of this event is inconsequential.
Okay, that should be doable.

In other news, I've got something brewing that will make creating characters a whole lot easier.
That new profiler tool looks sweet.

I have yet another scripting query! Ok, so my custom toon has scenes with Miki and Keika. The story test plays out fine. However, I can't seem to get them to play out during a regular session.

Clean mode eliminates default toons from the equation, so that could be the reason why those scenes won't play out. However, even with clean mode off, all generic encounters off and priority high these scenes don't want to play. I keep getting scenes like "Is anybody I know here? Guess I've exhausted all possibles excuses for not studying...for now" several days in a row.

Any ideas? Or should I just be more patient and hope I get my next story scene?
The "Is anybody I know here?" scene should only happen when there are no valid candidates for a story to play. And you should only ever see it when clean mode is on. Are you telling me that you see it when clean mode is off? If so, something is wrong.... (unless you've edited the built-in charaacters?)

Also check the introduce events for everyone that appears in your scenes since all characters must appear in an introduce event before showing up in other events. If things still make no sense, send me your script and I'll be glad to take a look.
Ok, I think I know what my mistake is. Since playing clean mode on wouldn't introduce Keika or Miki, then my scenes wouldn't be unable to play and since I have random encounters off for testing purposes, that would explain the "Nobody is here, guess I'll study".

Now I have to think of a way to test my toon without clean mode. In theory, if I delete all default stories except introduce ones, then I should be able to test my stories uninterrupted.

A little tip to all content creators: Custom toons and default toons don't play nice :)
Yup, that's one of the reasons I don't recommend mixing them.

But don't delete the built-in stories. Some of the built-in introduce stories have other built-in stories as their conditions, so you could run into problems trying to selectively delete some of them. If you really need a character to appear in a story without her having been introduced, there is a workaround--make her appear in a branch. Miki, Keika, etc can still appear in branches even with clean mode on.

That graphic looks oddly familiar! In more seriousness, that program looks exceptionally helpful. Would it be available as a separate download, perchance?

It's tricky, because one is limited to testing with Clean Mode off, but possible. If the custom character works off of someone like Miki, it's practically a non-issue, she all the other "default" characters seem to require meeting her first (Maybe that's just how it feel like, though). If it's someone more "specialized", or even crazier, another person's custom character, then one can run into some problems.

Wait, what? How's this possible if one references an ID#? Does the game not check to see if the built-in characters have been introduced in Clean Mode?

If the file size isn't too large I'll probably just bundle it with the main game.

Which could happen, huh? :) Since Masako is the first finished custom character, she probably has the highest likelihood of showing up in future content made by other users.

The introduce restriction doesn't apply if it's a branch. The documentation does mention this but it's easy to miss. And really, I don't want to encourage people to be putting built-in characters in their stories. Sooner or later players are going to be tired of seeing Miki and Keika all the time. Clean mode should be useful to players for that reason.

I'm not going to lie: I kinda wanna see this happen! See how other people write Masako, you know? Even if it's just a cameo appearance...

I'm not quite sure why, but I'm queasy about this idea. Though, it encourages the creation of custom content. Which is good. And players who could care less can just ignore that program. I dunno. I guess we'll see how big it is, huh?

Um, do we (as in the beta-testers) have to beta-test that character maker too?
First a little update to my testing idea. If you delete the profile for default toons from your custom story, then you can test your custom toon in clean mode. Just instead of seeing keika and miki, you see their number ID's instead. The beauty of this is, you can always replace the profile for default toons in your custom story and then run a story test to ensure you have the right characters in every scene.

Second, is another scripting question! In game stories 1, early on in the story you get to race her. Should you take a shortcut, the game uses a jump command to story 5 so you can meet another character. My question is, what's preventing story 5 from playing before story 4? I only ask because I need to do something similar with my custom toon.

Hmm, that's kind of how it already works. If the game doesn't have a profile to match ID=2, for instance, it will assume you want to assign the active speaker as an NPC whose name is "2". However, commands such as FRIENDLY and AFFECTION UP will produce warnings on startup. I think it's important that the game produce those warnings because it's quite common to accidentally write invalid commands when you've set the active speaker as the player or an NPC.

CONDITION = 5 DONE
The above line prevents the story selector from selecting Story 5 until Story 5 has been played. In other words, it can never select Story 5. The only way this story can be played is through a JUMP from another story (JUMP ignores conditions).
Gawd, I must have been tired, because I looked over that file like 10 times trying to figure out how it worked.

I was also giving some thought as to making a Masako cameo or interdependent characters in general would work. If I write a story involving Masako and the user hasn't downloaded Masako, then my story wouldn't be able to play because of the missing profile and INTRODUCE story.

So how can we avoid this problem? if I copied Masako's profile into my toon's profile, I could BRANCH Masako into my story and bypass the INTRODUCE issue. But what if the user already had Masako? Would a double profile result in two copies of Masako in game or create some other conflict?
Hi everyone, I've been lurking around for a while, and I wanted to introduce myself <3

I'm in the process of developing a new custom story called {Heartache 101 ~ Exchange of Heart}.
It revolves around three exchange students & one teacher from <players>'s "sister school program". All will be datable, including a male character. Yaoi FTW!

I don't want to give away any spoilers, but once I hammer out the basic storyline, I'll share more with everyone.

I will definitely be here often to ask for help whenever I come across a problem, and also to share when I come across epiphanies (if any :P)
Welcome to the custom content board wickedlady. I can say from experience that flowerthief provides excellent support for answering scripting/random problems and thoughts issues. I'll look forward to hearing more from your content, the exchange teacher has me quite curious.

I'm inclined to agree, reading through the thread has helped me a lot so far.

I felt this story needed a cougar (rawr) :p
I'm considering making her character story-line more "adult" as far as content goes. We can't have all these Japanese themed stories without an inappropriate Student/Teacher relationship, now can we? lol.
***Custom Content Release***

Description
The Rebellious girl next door, 21 Ways, is now available for download! Follow the link to media fire, extract the files and put them in the corresponding directories. I've tested these files several times, so they should be relatively bug and typo free.

Warning!
This content includes mild language such as h*ll and d*mn; minor drug reference.
This content will not work in clean mode.

Miscellaneous
This content is mostly complete. Future Updates include:
A) Bug and typo fixes if needed.
B) Unlocking remaining songs that conflicted with default music. (This is if we get scene music update to the game engine)
C) Possible Masako story (if I can figure out how to get her to appear without complications)

Don't forget that I've extensive experience with the creation of custom characters! I mean, how many times has Masako been updated because of random, stupid issues?

Possible Masako story (if I can figure out how to get her to appear without complications)

I'm normally not one to use emoticons, but this calls for a "o_O", a ":O", or a ":)". Or all three of them!

*Edit: Looked through 21 Ways' resources very quickly (I'm terrible like that). I don't like these music choices (they are loud and obnoxious to me), though I guess they make sense for the character. As for her story, it's pretty interesting. I caught a small-ish "typo", though:

During her ending sequence, one of her lines has her ID# listed, which would display her internal name of "21" rather than her "real" name.

Yeah, the music isn't for everybody, but as soon as I heard "She's a rebel", I knew I had found my theme for her.

Due to 21's aggressive personality and Masako's stoic demeanor, I think there are interesting possibilities. My story idea revolves around 21 picking a fight with Masako and getting outsmarted and frustrated.

Well, one of the things I want to do with Masako (after I get more experience with game development in general) is to give her the Predict skill very late-game (Yes, I'm talking Matsumori Days, not this game). Now, what that does is allow her to dodge any incoming damage. Even ones that would normally target the party, and not her specifically!

The general idea is that players would have to fight a specific boss with Masako as the party leader. There would be this sweet-ass cutscene where Masako manages to gracefully dodge what can only be described as a furious flurry of fisticuffs. After the cutscene, the skill would unlock, then boss fight would happen.

Anyway, how would that idea translate into this game? I shall allow one's creativity to answer that.
