This page is for discussion of the technical side of content creation. If you have a technical issue or question with regards to a character or story you are creating, talk about it here.
(The old Custom Content thread can be found here)

Helpful things:

--> Medium build girl, the .psd that was used to create the built-in characters, is available with layer names in English.

--> Kudos to SparkleFox for finding us a male tachie generator, authored by "彩 雅介" (Aya Mayabaikai?)! This one is put together as a program, but has PSD files with layer-names in Japanese. No "fan-translation" available at this time.

--> You can use any of these images for making new custom characters.

--> Notepad++ with syntax highlighting for Heartache 101 can be a big help with story creation. To set it up, go to the View menu and set User Defined Language to HeartAche. Then close View, go to the Language menu and select HeartAche. (If you already have Notepad++, here's userDefineLang.xml by itself)

--> Mr. Help File has, regrettably, forgotten to mention certain locations! They are as follows:
Beach (sunset), Grounds (sunset), Roof (sunset), Bedroom (Morning), Downtown, Studio Room.
Note that these locations must be specified via a PLACE command. To the best of my (ie: Marrend's) knowledge, they cannot be obtained via the generic "School" or "City" code.

SHIFT + F5 -- Adds 10 to Looks
SHIFT + F6 -- Adds 10 to Athletics
SHIFT + F7 -- Adds 10 to Personality
SHIFT + F8 -- Adds 10 to Mind
SHIFT + F9 -- Adds 10 to Soul
ALT + F5 -- Adds 1000 to yen
ALT + F6 -- Active speaker's affection decreases by 100
ALT + F7 -- Active speaker's affection increases by 100
ALT + F8 -- Advances the calendar by 1 day
ALT + F9 -- Advances the calendar by 7 days

A small thing, along with me getting waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of myself here:

- Can you change #124's name (Ishida Tomoe) to "Shimada Tomoe" on the ID list? She suddenly became Tsukasa's older sister a little while in development.

- Can I make multiple possible endings for one given character, or am I limited to one? I'm thinking of having a base ending via the plot along with one or possibly more depending on the supporting characters' affection values and/or whether or not other events are completed.

You can write as many possible erndings per character as you like. There's no inforced limit.
(For example there's a total of four different possible endings for Mayumi if you enable both "WingGirl" content packs.)

One thing to keep in mind is that the game would not allow the player to choose if there's more then one active ENDING story by the end of the game; he can choose the character but not the story. As far as I know the game would pick one at random in this case.

So, if you DO write multiple ENDINGs for one character you should take extra care to allow not more then one of them at a time.

why i mind THAT one game? Fire R...i think you know...
As a shameless form of self-advertising I'm planing on a short piece of content, ominously named "crossover".

I'd like to reserve IDs for the following characters for this:

Kojima Daishi
Hashimoto Chiyo

and of course Hina would be part of this, too (she already has an ID).

NOTE: of these only Chiyo will be pursuable ...

So, me and Garage have been doing a little back-and-forth, and the topic of the ID-list came up. There are numerous characters on there that don't have any content whatsoever, with the author nowhere in sight. The question that came to my mind is: should we call those characters "cancelled", and free up those IDs for other content authors, or should we leave it as-is because there is no theoretical maximum for this list (that either of us is aware of)?

Ahh...well, I'd say that you should declare those characters cancelled if there's no way to contact their authors.

With that in mind, it seems that a lot the characters (with content) may not see the day where they're finished.

Agreed, especially since some seemed like they had immense potential. :\

BDFalcon's characters seemed especially...interesting.

Hey, I was feeling nostalgic today so I decided to look at the RPGMaker forums for the first time in years, specifically to find this game. I remember this game really fondly, so I'm really glad it's still up and running with a community far more active than I would've expected. I think it's nice if more people want to create content, but I'm most likely never going to finish/update the content I'd planned to make all those years ago. My original user was RukasuWYZ, although I have no way to prove it, but I can distinctly remember a criticism that I had written Tsubasa's character badly when I included her in my content once if any of the moderator team can remember that (it was a totally justified criticism). Resultantly, please feel free to free up the IDs between 92-96.

Welcome back to this little corner of the forums. I'm sorry to hear that you have no plans of completing your content.

If you ever change your mind about that, I'd be very happy to revisit your contributions once you feel you'd like to share them again.

As there's no immediate need to recycle "your" IDs, I'll mark them as "probably abandoned" for the time being but keep the reserved (if that's OK with you).
Heyo~! my NEP creator friends, it's been 2 years, anybody miss me~?

ffpt.. I doubt there's anyone even recall me posting here.

But man, as usual, there's many created contents here that are still in unfinished state.
Well, mine are also in the same state, maybe even worse, far from finished.

Here I want to ask something regarding game technicalities.
But first, am I allowed to flex my project here? .. ehm, I mean, my Never-Ending Project.

As a perfectionist, I was never going to be showcasing project I have yet completed. But it's been 7 years, since I started this in 2013. Seeing all the other creators showing their creations, I kinda got fed up, and just want to let it out a bit. Also, I saw someone using the name "Shika" and "Ryoko". Someone using straight long black haired girl model. And after the thing with Robin Clark. I kind of wanna claim my spot a bit.
