Disconnect is the story of Will, a sophomore psychology student attending college in midwestern America. He's a reliable guy with a gamer roommate, a few good friends from high school, a likable psych professor, and decent grades. On a whim, he purchases a subscription to Crimson Horizons, the latest MMO. How he chooses to balance the two will be everything.
The gameplay of Disconnect is split into two portions. The first are the MMO segments in the world of Crimson Horizons. Will and his guild members embark from the flying city to take on campaigns on eight continents. Will can meet and interact with his guild members and a variety of NPCs as he advances through a skill tree system to reach the master classes.
A variety of quests in each area will add depth to the gameplay and allow players to gain levels and power at a meteoric rate - if they so choose. However, some of these quests will be a little...tricky.
Combat will be handled via a turn-based, row-oriented CBS. There will be lots of loot and treasure chests to find, as well as a plethora of quests, skills, and dungeons! Specifics will become available as development continues.
Offline, Will must spend his time on studies, meetings with friends, and exploring the campus. A smartphone helps him stay in touch with real world friends as well as guild members through a system of instant messages, emails, and texts. What happens to Will depends on both segments of the game.
Rising video game composer (and veteran RPG Maker user) Happy will be composing all the music for this game. Expect samples in the near future!
Disconnect is a joint project with mapping by Deckiller, art by Dudesoft, programming by psy_wombats, and music by Happy. The project originally began as a mini chain game.
