"As you have probably figured out, Mistuya, I am not from your world. I'm not even from this 'other world', as you may call it. Listen to my story. The story of why, or how we got here. And why we know what we know. Perhaps, just perhaps, you too can understand.

It started with Sataro. Those countless years ago..."

This prequel game gives background information on Mina, Vatma, and, perhaps, how the mess of Matsumori Days got started. It does not attempt to answer all queries, but it is my hope that some will be answered!

Personal Background:

I can't pinpoint an exact date, but during my stint of making games with RPG Maker 2000, my brother made an unfinished title called Summoner. It was probably deleted, though. What this game does is honor the memory of Summoner. To a degree, anyway.
Some personal touches puts this into the Matsumori Days multiverse (if that's the term for it). I do, however, make references to Summoner near the beginning of this game (as there wasn't much to Summoner to begin with).

The first game in the series (it's a sequel to this), Matsumori Days. Also has a game-thread on RPG Maker Web.

A new download appears! Command?

The upload is done. Arbiters From Another World is

COMPLETE!

Well, okay. There's probably going to be a bunch of things that could probably use some fixing. Grammar fixes, probably. Particularly at the end-game, as I was in a bit of a rush to push this out. However, there's no more story that I feel a need to include in this game. Which is "complete" enough for me! So, let's celebrate this frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

Anyway, if you have old saves from the last demo, they should, in theory, be compatible with this version. I've never really tested this, so I can't really say one way or another. I won't go as far as to say that saves from the original demo, from whenever it was ago that I released it, would be compatible with this. However, it would be somewhat humorous if it were true!

Happy gaming and I shall see you when I get around to Uchioniko!

Huh. Didn't even notice that. Happy playing regardless!
999 downloads? I'm playing just to get it to 1000.
I finished this a few days ago, so i wanted to leave some of my random thoughs here:

- First thing i see when starting is a test, dang it! Glad the game answered the questions for me cause i totally didn't study for that.
- I like the new world map, is pretty neat.
- Combat is all about mages now! There are no physical abilities, and the basic attack is pretty much useless, though skills like poison, stun etc. seem to be more effective than in the first game (actually, they might have been useful there but i didn't really use them all that much)
- Grinding wasn't as present as it was on matsumori days, i only felt the need to do so at one point where i was a bit underleveled, and even then i think i could have avoided that by making better use of my skills (like sleep, which was pretty damn useful)
- Shirai is back, and this time he gave me a run for my money, not to mention he earned my hatred in the process.
- On a side note, we should have that one bull fist monk girl take care of saving the world considering she almost beats the crap out of my entire team the first time we fought.
- When fighting Vatma I actually though i was supposed to defeat him, so i was a bit suprised when he started moping the floor with me, luckily i didn't restart the game or anything so i realize it was a fight i couldn't win hehe.
- I liked how in the end you tied stuff in with the first game.
- Overall this was an upgrade from Matsumori Days and also the one game i liked the most from the matsumori trilogy.

I also finished Konae's investigations, so i'll probably leave feedback on that later too. :3

That's what the download button's for!

I'll take that as a yes. XD

Just keep in mind that I don't have access to VX anymore to fix any potential bugs/issues that you may come across.

I understand, and there's no need to worry. I doubt the said bugs will ruin the game for me.

Mostly because I've had horrendous experiences with other things, and whatever's in this game can't compare to them at all.

Anyway, being something of a passing reference to Star Control 3 and the Exquivans, I'm gonna say that "Test thine metal" is totally on purpose. Also, it would fit the way she speaks. Thanks for that anyway!

Oh! I see! Post-Battle Jenova dialogue reveals sense! ... That Rasuna music! So different! Nice!

OMGWTFBBQ! Rasuna looks so OP! I read the Walkthrough, but just looking at her skill list makes it so much more, wow.

Also, at the Vatma battle, you have the Korn Elder saying that (he?)'d deal with them, then you go to Vatma battle? Should it not be the Korn Elder battle? Wait... So, Vatma is the Korn Elder, I guess, it's just that we don't get him name until the battle...

A subscriber should get notifications either way in regards to blogs/comments. Not that I'm against writing blogs (I'm like, in the top 10 with that stat), but it just didn't seem necessary? I dunno. You're right about not getting notifications about an old download getting updated. A new download would generate a notification (and randomly make this game capable of being voted/nominated for this year's Misaos), but, I feel no need to make a new download.

Game updated! Thanks again to Malandy for the spell-checking and bug report! Hopefully, things should work a bit better now. I'm... somewhat assuming Malandy will move onto Matsumori Days and will find things I'll need to fix there? The issue of getting VX working on my current machine is still up in the air either way.

Yep! I'll move to Matsumori Days after I finish playing this! ... Might be better to use blogs to announce updates, as posts just say "Marrend made a new post..." which doesn't tell us subscribers that we should download the new version, since updating files don't give Notices.

But I remember seeing one... Fake Memory? Unless that file update Notice only happens if the game is Incomplete?

Typo:

Did you intend Jenova to say 'metal' when she says "Test thine metal"? That is, instead of 'mettle'? 'Cause I sorta-justified it as her being weird/ancient.

Unless I find more bugs, I'll do a typo-list once I've finished the game.

EDIT: While it would be nice for Ichiro to get dialogue in the Ishino Ruins, that's just my idea for an Easter Egg.

I'm not sure if players can skip the Fire Spirit? I might have set it up so that the exit would send players back to square one unless they defeat it. I'd have to look into the game to be certain.

Be aware that the monk in the training room "levels up" at various points in the game. There's hopefully helpful strategies (depending on which version you're fighting) in the walkthrough, if you're interested!

*Edit: To the best of my knowledge, players don't need to rest before meeting with Mina. Though, again, I would have to double-check this against what's in the game.

From what you're describing about the monk guarding the entrance of Order of the Bull Fist, it does sound like a move-route bug.

Oh, yeah! I just reset and did it again, and the guy does move to the right.

I assume you mean after doing the Rite with the Earth Spirit, and after returning to Yokoki? Or, maybe, you mean after being booted out of the school, and needing to change clothes. I feel like the latter event is the less obvious one, and would cause some head-scratching.

Yeah, but even in the very beginning, you have to go rest before you get the assignment to go to the ruins, I think.

I don't recall how much inns cost, so I can't really comment on the "Unwinnable By Insanity" quip in regards to not having enough money to pay for inns. Though, if players ever get to the Order of the Bull Fist (you were SO CLOSE!), there is free resting there. One of the many reasons to "Set" a Beacon there, to be sure!

The inns cost 10GP. The Sassa and Port Hideki ones are 10GP.

On that note, sorta, the training monk in the weapons' sales room is pretty tough! ... I guess we get to buy those Elemental Attack Gems, (Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald, Turquoise.), on the second Bull Order Upgrade event?

Also the Desert has free recovery too! ... Can you skip the Fire Spirit, I wonder... I don't have a save far enough away to check, but that's just idle musing.

As for fixes, I seriously doubt it's as simple as copying over the files? I mean, I have the game-files, and VX's RTP installed on my current computer. Just not the engine itself. When last I tried to install the engine, the program was looking for a 25-character-long validation key. Mine, being nine (or so) years old, was, like, 5 characters short. Anyway, I send a support ticket, but, there hasn't been a response yet. Though, I would admit that I was trying to do this back when MV was brand-spanking new, so that might have gummed up the works a bit!

*Edit: Though, in all honesty, I might tend toward doing fixes on my old 'puter, and transferring from there. As long as I have this option, I might as well use it!

Rambling...

(Assuming you have Windows here...)

I mean like going into where the RPG Maker VX program files are like in Program Files/RPG Maker VX or whatever, and just putting that on a jump-drive or something, and moving it to your new computer.

There might be some registry things that are needed to be done, but then you can use regedit to look for registries that say "VX" or "RPG Maker VX" or whatever and replicate it on your new machine.

Perhaps ask on the RPG Maker Web Forums, or the forums here, about this stuff?

It's not like you're pirating or something... And it seems to work for most/all of my programs. Using registry entries as registration checks doesn't seem to be a common practice?

It's not like the program will lock you out if you try and copy it. But, I'm not you.

Taking out the hard drive and plugging it into your new computer is also something that might be done, if you feel up to it... But, I'm rambling here...

Well, I haven't finished the game, but I'll make some notes here since I found my first bug...

If I talk to the Okoko Mountain Monk from the right, the monk on the second screen, the dialogue plays, and then I can't move, presumably since the monk is supposed to move to the right, and I've blocked him.

Typo:

Kido: "Aoki being so found", 'found' -> 'fond'

Notes:

After doing the Summoning, there are no hints that going to bed is what's needed to advance the plot. I think...

Could you trap yourself by running out of Geld-Pasil and so you can't pay an inn to heal you? Although, that's Unwinnable By Insanity... And not expected to be fixed unless you want to Think of Everything...

It's not bad, other than the balancing issues, which you've already noticed, but that's not a deal breaker for me. Given that this is the prologue of a series it's not that bad... Wow... That's feels like It's Not Supposed to Win Oscars... Sorry... Well, I guess I'll agree with Muninn's review by the end of this.

Perhaps you can move VX onto your new computer? Just copy all the files over, maybe?

Sataro's skills should be a straight-up replacement. Also, while I'm thankful for the spell-checking, would you mind compiling a list and PMing it to me instead?

As for possible fixes to the game proper, while I don't have VX on my current computer (I don't want to get too much into this story here), I can still use my old computer (it's about one year older than my RMN profile!) to make corrections. However, I'm not sure how long I can afford to hold onto it!

I swear I allowed comments to be made on the walkthrough? Nope, I didn't. FIXED!

Anyway, while the skills Student-Sataro may look like that...

There's very little chance anyone would have the patience to grind hard enough to see him get any new abilities. Though, I think he manages well enough with what little he has.

Yeah, but it's basically an Easter Egg that only hackers or hardcore grinders will see. But, then again, that's pretty normal.

Does Summoner!Sataro have the same skills as Student!Sataro, and you just listed the new ones? Or is that a replacement of his whole skill set?

Well, I guess I'll find out once I get that far!
Oh, total replacement... Well, that makes things more difficult, with that lack of elemental versatility... And confusing, as I don't see why he'd forget his spells...

Then again, don't I say in the "Final Thoughts" section in the manual that nobody reads...

Oh! HEY! A Manual! If my icon made it look less like an ini file, I would have noticed it... Maybe...

Manual Typos:

"refelect" for "reflect"?

"reffer" for "refer"

If you want to hack the game, even going so far as to fool around with the editor, go for it. I might not be able to support errors that occur from a hacked game, but I support any action that allows players to have as much enjoyment as possible.
Umm... Why can't we comment on the Walkthrough Page?

'Cause I've got a sadness and a typo to report:

Sadness: Student!Sataro's skills aren't used anywhere else, so in order to see them, we need to grind lots. ... Unless the same animations are used elsewhere, or this game can be opened by other peoples' RPG Makers... But, it's got that .rvproj, so I guess it can...

Typo: "Adept" as "Adpet", unless that was on purpose, as Adpet is perfectly pronounceable...

Before I randomly forget (again!), I came across an interesting thing some time ago. The way the video is titled is a tad weird to me, but, it puts a small smile on my face.
