Big Update

I have uploaded the latest game files from the last year. I plan on having this game completed shortly after my promised release date. If you were to play this game now, its about 10-15 hours long. Any constructive criticism on the game is welcome.

Right now it is mostly focused on the main storyline. It is essentially a storyline storyboard. I plan to add in dungeons and obstacles after the initial story is complete.

Thank You,

I remember this game. Empire of (the) stars, right? It had some cool concepts but I remember the graphics and dialouge wasn't fantastic. I'll give this a spin and get right back to you
Yes it used to be Empire of stars, but I got inspired for a new beginning to this game and so I have shoehorned it in. I plan on finishing this time and I think I can develop the story a lot better. This will be updated as I add more. Excited about this project.
I am surprised that anybody remembers my old game.
So i've only played for like ten minutes and I'm stuck; there seems to be a problem with the teleporters in the colony; I can't get in to the administrative district. Going into basically any other door teleports me right back outside the presentation room.

Anyhow, I like the storypremise so far, even if it feels a bit rough around the edges (everything happens so fast). The dialouges are a lot better this time around, although still seems a bit weird at times. I am pretty sure I recognize the music in most areas but it's nice nonetheless (even though original/non-game music is preferable). What I'm not sold on are the graphics - most of the maps are just longwinding, empty passages that doesn't seem to have any purpose, and on top of that, they all look kind of the same so navigating is pretty hard :S.

I'd be willing to make some suggestions on how to improve here and there since I do think the game's interesting enough so far. I might even have some pretty cool facesets that might be of some use to you.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Yes it is rough around the edges. I plan to polish it out as soon as I have the basic story down.
Administrative district was not completed yet in this release. I am accelerating production on this now and I am trying to get the baseline story down first. Then I am going to go back through the game and improve all the graphics (more details, less empty space.)

Any chipset, faceset, and character set suggestions are greatly appreciated.
What you are playing is the storyboard version of the game (all the storyline compressed together). I plan on spacing it out and fleshing it out more so after I have completed the main story. This game is on the fast track now.
Updated the game files tonight. updated version now posted.

I see. Well, you're actually doing a pretty decent job then. Does this include the visuals?

Apart from the obvious, single-winding hallway mazes, Some areas look decent to alright (and there's actually some detail here and there. however, there's still room to improve!) but I believe the problem stems more from the resources you are using, as some of the chipsets are miscoloured or seem only half-done. I would direct you to the resource folder of my old game, solar tear, but when I saw your game, I noticed that alot of it (not all) was kinda shitty too... but even then, they might be better. There's also an issue with clashing styles and sprites.

You seem to have a marry mix between final fantasy 6, the rtp-styled ones and abyssdiver. neither of these, I think, mix very well and picking one of these styles should be pretty important to give a coherent visual.

I don't know if I have any decent facesets but i'll look through my folders a little further

anyhow, imma follow dis gam
I plan on making the graphics look better but I consider it the least important part for finishing a game, I can go in at the end, and make one chipset file look really awesome and then it changed the whole game. Graphics are meaningless without a good storyline and gameplay. I need to work on the gameplay aspect as well but i have to wait until I finish the story otherwise it will need constant readjustment.
Gotcha. I'm kind of the opposite - i usually make the visuals first and then forget to make the game. I bet your way is a little more efficient when it comes to product development :)
I would love improved visuals though. I am not the best at it and there are almost zero futuristic RPG maker games, so it is both a blessing and a curse to make this game in terms of graphics. In any case I always appreciate feedback..Thank you!
Just downloaded but good lord dude 300mb of music is a bit overkill. I'd be more understanding if you had looped them instead of just dumping entire songs in there but most of them just fade out. Anyway I'll check it out in a bit.
For anybody who has played this so far, what do you think? Do I have a good starting point here? Also keep in mind, if you change the games starting point to the map that says "prologue" you will encounter my old game "Empire of Stars" which I plan to merge with this game. It will be a massive Space Epic.

I agree, before the final release I will open the tracks in Audacity and modify every single one, but it takes a bit of time, so before that point I am just focusing on getting the rough cut project done.
I got an error where its missing a file called "2003strike" or something. Better double check how you managed the rtp independency or w/e.
I think it does need the RTP at this time, or just the default rpgmaker 2003 install. Is there any way I can avoid any RTP issues in the future, is there any way to check for that? Or will it work if I just throw all the RTP files in the main directory?
Also the game is still progressing smoothly. I have a basic overlay of the story I am going for. I will release another build when space/ships meet mars.
All Errors have been fixed (I think) please let me know if there are any problems I want to fix every single one! ^_^
