Shinji Mimura update! Testers needed

Hi

I've finally finished the Shinji Mimura update, meaning that he will now be a playable character in the BR rpg! I've tested it as much as I can but it's a lot of work for just one person, so before I release the update to the general public I'm looking for some volunteers to play test it. If you're interested please send me a pm and I'll add you as a tester. Thanks and I hope you like it!

Battle Royale forum

Recently a new Battle Royale forum has been made at Battle Story. It's a small but growing community dedicated to all things BR, so if you love the movie/book/manga as much as I do please check it out!

Also, you can find chat, tips and bug reports about my game there too!

Next update and feedback

I've started working on the next update, which will add boy #19 Shinji Mimura as a playable character. I'd also like to incorporate feedback from the game so far - any changes, additions, balancing issues, good points, bad points etc.

So it'd be great if anyone who has downloaded the game could let me know your thoughts! Thanks!

Ver 1.2 Bugs fixed - please redownload!

I've found and fixed a number of minor bugs as well as quite a major one where the game would freeze of Shinji and Shogo were in your party and you entered a house with a computer. Please redownload this new version! Your save files should still work ok.

Thank you for your patience!

Game Starts: Day One 3:30 am

I've finally produced something playable! Yay! There will probably be bugs and crap I missed! Boo! This game is complete except you can only choose one character. I'd like to get some feedback so I can make any changes before I start work on the other four character stories. So any suggestions, complaints, praise, bug reports etc. please, please let me know!

Gameplay instructions are in the included readme. If you ask me a question which is in the readme then I will mock you. So please read it first!

Demo coming soon!

I'm finally almost ready to release a demo ^_^ All I have left to do is the battler and weapon stats, which I've been putting off til last since I hate making and balancing battles.

The demo is actually the complete game, except you will only be able to play as Shuya Nanahara. Depending on feedback I will make any tweaks before I work on and release the other 4 playable characters. The core game and events are all there now though, so hopefully it won't be so much work to add the other characters.

I dreamt of Battle Royale last night...maybe I need a little break...

Mitsuko unlockable costume suggestions!

Now I have achievements I thought a fun way to reward obtaining them would be to add unlockable costumes for Mitsuko (she already has one change of clothes by default). I have a couple of ideas already but I need 4 or 5 more. So, who would you like to see Mitsuko cosplay as? Any anime, film or video game character suggestions please!

Progress Report

It's tough when friends die on you, but hang in there!

I've been doing lots of stuff on the game the last few weeks, including adding three exciting (?) new features:

First, I've revamped the battle system so rather than having your allies divided into either active or support roles (acting like skills) they can be either. Talk to an ally outside of combat to either put them in your active party of 4 or put them in a support role. Support allies can only be called a limited number of times in a fight (the stronger the ally, the less times they can be used) but are safe from harm, while active allies can be equipped with armour and weapons but once they're dead, they're gone permanently. Healing items will be in very short supply, so if an active ally is critical you can put them back into support to keep them alive.

The second thing I've added is a script that actually makes night time dark, and you need to use your flashlight to see anything (it automatically comes on when the sun sets). This means it's much harder to see if there are other students around, unless you have the gps device. It also makes it much harder to escape from Kiriyama if you're unlucky enough to come across him. Plus it makes the night time scenes more tense.

Finally, I've added an achievement system. This game is going to be very open-ended and there will be lots of stuff the player will miss out on if they're not in the right place at the right time. By looking at the achievements the player can get an idea of, for example, which students it is possible to save. Of course, it then becomes a bit of a puzzle as to how exactly you save them. Hopefully the achievements will act as a bit of guidance.

Tadaima...

Well, following a too-long absence I'm back and after being re-motivated (thanks Dyhalto ^_^) I've decided to return to Battle Royale. I'd actually done a hell of a lot of work but other commitments led me to slowly drift away. Anyway, I've started adding to it and hopefully this time I'll get a playable demo available soon. There's a few things that I'm not 100% happy with (such as the maps) but if I can get feedback from a demo I can work on those. Any other suggestions or ideas are welcome!

Sorry for the delay...I can't believe how fast a year goes o_O
