I've been doing lots of stuff on the game the last few weeks, including adding three exciting (?) new features:
First, I've revamped the battle system so rather than having your allies divided into either active or support roles (acting like skills) they can be either. Talk to an ally outside of combat to either put them in your active party of 4 or put them in a support role. Support allies can only be called a limited number of times in a fight (the stronger the ally, the less times they can be used) but are safe from harm, while active allies can be equipped with armour and weapons but once they're dead, they're gone permanently. Healing items will be in very short supply, so if an active ally is critical you can put them back into support to keep them alive.
The second thing I've added is a script that actually makes night time dark, and you need to use your flashlight to see anything (it automatically comes on when the sun sets). This means it's much harder to see if there are other students around, unless you have the gps device. It also makes it much harder to escape from Kiriyama if you're unlucky enough to come across him. Plus it makes the night time scenes more tense.
Finally, I've added an achievement system. This game is going to be very open-ended and there will be lots of stuff the player will miss out on if they're not in the right place at the right time. By looking at the achievements the player can get an idea of, for example, which students it is possible to save. Of course, it then becomes a bit of a puzzle as to how exactly you save them. Hopefully the achievements will act as a bit of guidance.
