Life is inherently meaningless.

After having resigned himself to that cold, altruistic statement, Jared has locked himself within his apartment and lethargically awaits death. His seclusion and complete and total withdrawal from society is short-lived, however, when he realizes his pet cat, his sole companion, is out of food. Jared can allow himself to wither away from starvation, but certainly not an innocent animal; besides, he's not sure how much longer he can stand her annoyed meowing.

Following six days of complete isolation, Jared emerges from his apartment to find the world is a different place from when he left it. It's not an apocalypse, but rather a twisted nightmare eerily reflective of his own insecurities and inner-terrors, old memories return to haunt him through vague incarnations of orphan children, subway tunnel ghosts, mannequins that move, roaches that talk, and three cruel little girls who rule them all. The new world is full of menacing denizens all with their own demands they'll place on Jared's shoulders, and he'll have to submit to their every whim if there's any hope of unlocking the riddles to this new nightmare. Has the world really fallen into such chaos in such a short time, or has he simply gone insane?

It is promised to him that once he fulfills the dreams of the forgotten children, the world will be as it was.

Jared doesn't care either way. He's bored and miserable and wants a way out of life.

The world is madness no matter which way you look at it.

ATTN: The game is cancelled, but there is a download available from what was salvaged out of a demo sent to my boyfriend. Thank you.

Demo Available

Hello, thanks to a demo that was still on my boyfriend's computer at the time the game crashed, some of the game is still salvageable, meaning that perhaps at some point in the future I can finish it.

Unfortunately, I am not at a time and place where I have enough time or energy to devote to it as I once-could. I am currently attached to a newer project with a community of people devoted to creating a truly terrifying game. They're a talented bunch, and I'm honored to be allowed to work with them as we all try to tell the best possible narrative with an unsettling atmosphere.

Please enjoy the demo.

Thank you again,

-Dorian

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

This sounds exactly like my sophomore year of college.

This game seems slightly awesome.
Woo! Existential nightmares! Sign me up!
Looks really interesting.
Looking forward to this.
I'm loving the idea. I can't wait to play this game :D
This looks magnificent in every way. Big props for doing Silent Hill right.
Kumada, thank you for the words, though I think I'd like to stress that this game, while having a brief similarity in the desire to create a nightmarish environment for the protagonist based off his own fears, is a far-cry from anything Silent Hill-related.

This isn't me "doing Silent Hill" it's...dear, Lord...I feel sorry for anyone trying to categorize just what this awful things is, haha. It's weird humor, odd imagery, I've got a masked man feeding floating heads in a sewer like they were ducks on a river, the mothman is a primary character, a cockroach in an apron, a child-eating plant, and a "Dead-Meat Circus".

If you were to put an adjective to describe all that, "Silent Hill" is not what comes to mind...in fact, the word "special" does, in that sort of, let's put this thing in the corner and hope it goes away.

Regardless, I'm glad you're looking forwards to it, and I sincerely hope that I can deliver an immersive experience, and at the very least an engaging story, which is all that anyone can hope to do. I just hope nobody goes into this thinking they're going to be fighting monsters with a crowbar or running away from Pyramid Head, as they might become very cross with me when they find out it's just a simple adventure game with some pretentious whining sprinkled throughout.

I don't want to get any nasty letters, "WHERE'S MY SEXY NURSES?!"

You can understand my aversion to creating the wrong idea in anyone's head!
Whoops. Good point. I should have clarified. I meant more the essential idea behind Silent Hill than the franchise itself. Or, at least, what I see the essential idea as.

As for worrying about whether you're going to deliver a good game to the fans, don't. It's gonna be a good game. Put aside your doubts about that until after you've finished the creative process. It's way, way more efficient than having to fight your inner editor's voice every step of the way. :D
...but I thought this project died.

Where did this download come from?
This game looks very weird. In a good way.
