The game is based on the manga storyline of Hiromu Arakawa's manga, Fullmetal Alchemist, but the plot is set 5 years after the failed transmutation of their mother and Ed has finally accomplished restoring his brother's body.

Ed's life seems perfect with a happy life in Central, living with Al and being promoted to Colonel and secretary of the Fuhrer and with Roy as the new General. But life soon takes a new turn...

Now that all the holiday cheer and events have settled down, we’re back on working on BBI: R! Thank you all for playing and giving feedback about the project.

I have updated the progress tab but for a more in-depth explanation of where we are at:

Day 2 beyond is when the player can finally begin to make choices and affect what endings they will get. Hence, we will not be releasing any demos from this day forward to avoid future issues.

We are attempting to convert BBI:R to 1080p instead of 720p. We will give more news once this is finished.

The battle system’s Alchemy has been completely redesigned to follow the same gameplay as the GBA games such as “Stray Rondo” and “Omoide No Sonata.” The UI is currently under production.

An inventory display has been added to give the player a chance to glance at the items they will get. The UI is currently under production.

All of the UI has been completely redesigned. This is to follow modern standards for Visual Novels and give BBI:R an identity that is different from its predecessor.

The cursor has been updated to display Alphonse’s glove.

The map system has been updated to display which character is currently on an area. This is to avoid repeated save/load if you managed to miss the character you are aiming for.

There’s still a lot of work to do but we hope that you will still follow our progress to the creation of this game!

Really looking forward to this. I saw some voice acted versions on Youtube and was amazed and intriguied, so it'll be nice to play it in its intended visual novel form.

You're thinking of the original anime. Not only is this based from an alternate plot that deviates from the manga at about Volume 7, the original anime had a plot all of its own.
FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (the anime remake, 64 episodes) follows the plot properly. In the actual canon scheme of things, Ed's world is the only world rather than that weird split, and alchemic energy is confirmed to come from the tectonic plates rather than what is stated in the 2k3 anime.

And for the record, the Pride, Sloth, Wrath and Greed you're used to are different in the canon plot.

sorry if it seems like I'm ranting or anything! I watched Brotherhood in three days and I've had a frustrating day today, heh ^^'

@Brent, it would be hard to appreciate the game if you haven't seen the show (brotherhood) or read the manga. I supposed it *might* work as a standalone but I wouldn't recommend it.
