Here are some early videos of my work in progress. The first video gives you a little behind the scenes look at how my levels are built, but it was the first capture I made for this project, so you will notice some stitching errors that let you see through where the walls should be connected.

This second video is a brief preview of the first couple minutes of the game. The idea is to start slow and build a little atmosphere while the player learns how to get around. Black rectangles = open sliding doors, by the way.

Awe-fucking-some. I can't wait to play this.
One issue I usually have with these games though is getting lost. Including a map is a good thing, but I often think there should be some sort of mapping hints or indications that let you know where you are, like room or area names and specific furniture.
What is your take on this matter?
Well, right now that empty white outline on the map was filling in for the player's position. I'm going to make icons for the different directions, as well as indicators for known objectives.

I'm planning on throwing a little display up when you enter a new area. At first it will be stuff like "Unknown Location", "Abandoned Office", and "Hallway", but after the player finds an info kiosk (for lack of a better term at the moment), the proper name for areas will pop up. From that point on, visiting new areas unlocks their names on the map screen, so it should be pretty easy for the player to get their bearings... I hope.

I don't really like feeling lost in these games either!
