Warriors of the Sword (WotS) is a strategy game, made in roughly two weeks for a secret santa game making thing. You control one of five factions as you do the usual faction stuff with expanding your army, invading other factions, managing resources, etc., with much more simplified gameplay compared to other strategy games (very akin to Gemfire if you've played it).
Gameplay:
All regions are assigned a random order at the beginning of each season and each one then plays their turn in that order. During this the owner may choose to send or request resources to or from neighbouring provinces, train troops or use them to attack a neighbouring region, or develop farmland, mines, infrastructure, or fortifications of the current province. Training troops or attacking regions, as well as development will end the current province's turn. At the beginning of spring your province will collect taxes, while in the fall it will harvest your crops allowing you to feed your population (and possibly sell the excess).
When attacking or raiding a region, the game will go to a battle map where the amount of troops you have will be divided over 5 units (the exact types depending of whether your defending or attacking). To help with your battles you also have access to a powerful creature unit. Each faction has their own creature and while they are powerful and can be used anytime you're involved in a battle, you may only use them a limited number of times each year.
At the end of a season you have the chance to offer or break alliances with other factions (only one per season) as well as save your game or load a previous one.
Read the readme.txt for more detailed descriptions.
Controls:
