"I think I heard that voice once before in a dream long ago."

Made in less than a month for RPG Revolution's apocalypse-themed game-making competition, Finding Eden is an action/adventure game set after the end of the world.

Being two of the last survivors of the collapse of society, you and your friend must struggle to make ends meet while your remaining lifespan ticks away - and the only way to recover it is to scavenge life-giving mana from the pockets of vitality that haven't already been picked clean.

No idea who's responsible, but it seems that some Korean fan translated the game. Very cool!

First of all, why did you have to make those stairs to the final boss look like a rock. It was a nightmare to find her.

Sorry about that! The entire game was made in a month and there were a ton of maps to make, and I was making them on top of writing and doing the scripting, so the mapping can be a little subpar at times.

Second of all, damn did that ending piss me off, but in a way that I can truly appreciate. Thank you so much for making this game, it was just PURE atmosphere and emotion.

Thanks so much! Those are my favorite types of endings. I'm happy to infuriate!

Thanks for playing and for the video! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Having had some time to let the story really soak into my brain, I can say I enjoyed this game quite a lot. Well...not gonna lie, I got a bit lost during the actual playthrough. Darn caves...

Anyway, I made a Let's Play of it, so...yeah...

Please have patience with my supreme duh-ness. It may not seem like it during the video, but I did enjoy the game. :) Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the video :D Glad you enjoyed this title as well!

Great game! I loved the art, and the story!
There's a second person you need to find. Search the caves.
What do you do after beating the blonde haired guy and giving the crystal mana? I've run around the world like 5 times trying to figure out. The door says "it'll open if I give it mana" but i also don't know how to do that.

Sailerius, you are not, by any means, to expand on this.
It would just completely ruin the ending...
The thing about this game, its good because it makes you think, if you expand on it and give away all the answers, people aren't going to have anything to think about, so they'll just dismiss this game as a normal game.
I would really like to know what happens, but please! Do not expand on it, it would simply ruin all of it!
P.S Another reason this game is good is because its simple. You focus more on the story than on the actual gameplay mechanics. If you were to make a load of complex gameplaying thingys, you'd be diverted from the actual story, which is what most games now do.
This game is the best EVER as it is!
Normally, I have to deal with people insisting that I continue a game's story; this is the first time I've had someone insist that I don't! But I do agree. The story was intended to be self-contained and although there are more answers than you're given, I thought it would ruin the atmosphere of the game to give it to you.
Honestly, I think the problem is that we have too little explanation to speculate on currently. Everything's very much in medias res; we have no idea how the apocalypse happened, what mana actually is, the characters' backstories, how everything functions... It does create a healthy atmosphere of mystery, but too little information can undermine that as well. It's a difficult balance to get right.

You focus more on the story than on the actual gameplay mechanics. If you were to make a load of complex gameplaying thingys, you'd be diverted from the actual story, which is what most games now do.

Hm, while I mostly agree with this, would it not be more beneficial if the gameplay mechanics were integrated with the story mechanics, instead of in separate worlds? One of the few things The Void got right was that -- it had quite possibly the best melding of gameplay and story I have ever seen. When gameplay and story are developed well together, it can bolster the experience rather than hinder it, in my opinion.

I think part of the problem may be that it's so short. It's kind of difficult to do an in-depth review for the game.

Wait, one question: How long does a person's mana actually last you?
And is she does find the mana, it would only last everyone for something like a generation, what with all the people and all. So therefore, even if she does find the mana, then she's only prolonging earth's eminent destruction...
^.^ I'm confused, maybe I should just get back to my game...
I'm familiar with The Void, but I haven't actually playd it yet.

Mmph, as interesting as it is, I can't recommend you buy it on good conscience, since it means supporting the disgusting marketing tactics it uses. It would be a good idea to watch a Let's Play when time allows, though.

Currently, there are no plans to expand or continue the game since it was just a one-off, but you never know. I wasn't expecting it to get nearly the attention it did, so we'll see.

I see. The game does have a very interesting concept and story, so it would be a bit of a pity if it was never explored further. I suppose time will tell.

Very interesting, I loved the atmosphere. The gameplay was pretty simple, but I suppose that's to be expected, given the time constraints. I liked the mana system, it helps to contribute to the feeling of survival and just barely clinging to life. It reminded me a bit of the Colour system in The Void, which I also really liked. I found it pretty easy to accumulate mana, though; I barely needed the bits and pieces scattered around, since the Harvesters are so plentiful and easy to kill.

Are you planning on expanding/continuing this in the future? If the mana system was expanded, it could make for a really interesting game. (Perhaps kind of like The Void, only without all the sexism and creepy fanservice and ugh.)

(If you don't know about The Void, you should probably check out its Wikipedia page. It's actually very similar to Finding Eden, though much more surreal and with a heavier emphasis on the fantasy elements. Also, with the aforementioned creeptacular portrayal of women, which unfortunately ruined an otherwise-awesome game for me. :|)

Question: How does something this awesome get some 300 downloads and no reviews?
